  10. The reason broods are used in race horses etc is that sometimes they are injured or not made the grade, and as they may cost 100k or more they take a foal from them to male a bit back or bring the foal on, and with greyhounds having big litters makes even more sence, but I shouldn't imagine they wouldn't even try a mare.or bitch before breeding just in case they missed a world beater. That don't mean it's the best way to go ,with £200 Lurchers, just the money involved with horses and top notch greyhounds makes it uneconomic to just pts an injured investment of thousands.
  11. my russell does what he want when it comes to recall, and shouting will just make him realise you aint fecked off home yet. i tend to just walk the opposite way,and he comes, the more and louder you shout will just make him realise you are still about, whistle so it looks up the walk the other way,and keep doing it when it gets 10 feet away, keep at it ,
  12. I doubt I'd buy a 1/2 cross of breeding. I'd rather buy one that's been bred for a few generations and utilize all that hard work that's been put in by someone, Just makes more sense to me , and before someone says it's not the breeding it's the owner,I'd rather have the odds in my favour and at least start with a well bred pup where a bit of thought has gone into it ,than a retired greyhound to another pure bred they just happen to have.
  13. To be fair ,I don't think it s that simple as,coursing dogs have different styles ,then adding some bull into the mix, will change that,so it will an individual thing regarding running style, Also the quality and qualities of the parents will come into play. Just hope to get one off top notch parents, where both do the job their cross is bred for, and hope it clicks that's all you can do,or get one of a tightly bred mating that you like if you can find one hopefully taking some guess work out of it...atb Roy
