  1. having seen some good fell hounds on open country and farmland i would be stunned if a terrier kept up for any length of time, then stunned you would be ................lot of the good fell packs used to do it fair do's to the little tykes that could keep up with a fast fell pack for an hour plus,
  2. sorry to hear that mate, but as you have said he had a long working life in a good home, the most important thing

  4. My worry would be if £300/working pup becomes the norm, you are making money - good money. That would encourage people to breed more purely for profit rather than for themselves and friends/associates. Quality would drop off and it would be to detriment of working dogs overall. I have no problem selling surplus pup, especially to long term, known members of a hunting forum but personally feel more comfortable with a lower price. JMO
  5. This is an excellent show. Well attended, good classes of workers, top judges every year, lovely food in a beautiful setting. I would recommend to all.
  6. they might be working dogs but that's not a working man's price
  7. horses for courses, hounds for grounds
  8. having seen the terrain in question, these aren't bushing or mooching lurchers - they often need to draw huge areas before knocking one up or finding him in - so nose, stamina, feet and marking ability needed - i can fully understand the need for a drop of hound blood if your lurcher may need to be 2 miles away from you sometimes.
  9. who needs terriers LOL - fair play you have some fun with those mate
  10. i wouldn't fancy bushing with a terrier on basis it could easily drop in and you're stuck there then.
  11. lovely sort Treehands - hours of fun I'll bet
  12. I find it strange they'd even want to publicise this, if they did take the decision it would have been easy enough to say it was an accident.
