  1. I do normally but I wanted that little pricket cooled and frozen as soon as possible for a couple of reasons ? The bucks are just warming up now and getting noisy but also getting stupid and just wandering about a bit aimlessly at times. So just making it a bit too easy☺ Give them another week and they won't be standing still long enough to get a shot off

    Goshawks

Anyone ever seen one in the wild?
  3. I am very lucky to have this permission it really is a good spot
  4. Take your point about it being unlikely for a wild cat to be near a busy property. But not impossible. Just think of urban foxes for example. Melanism is one of the commonest colour morphs in all species so I don't think it's surprising to find a black puma just surprising it's the first one! The head size compared to neck length is puma and the tail staying the same thickness not tapering at the tip says big cat as well. Best footage I have seen just a shame it's in the puma's natural range not taken in UK ?
  5. Gnipper does yours have border blood as well or just beardie? I know one or two people who have had first cross beardie grey and I get the impression they can be quite hard work. The mixed collies seem to provide the best if both worlds in some ways it would seem
  6. Some good heads there. The lechwe we looks especially big?
  7. Best dog I ever saw was bred this way. Just as bright as the border cross but a little less intense but still high drive. And some of the best feet you will see come from beardies
  8. Not many of that bloodline about novice. If you are anywhere near epping g forest they are worth a look
  9. Three more bucks from the black herd this morning. It was a bit misty early on so I wasn't sure if I would get a shot or not but as the sun rose it cleared enough. Left the truck and walked along one side of the valley , seeing a small group across the other side. Dropped the pricket with the 243 from about 300 yards and the rest ran up to the woods on the right. You can just see him in the landscape picture.I knew there was a meadow beyond and they might come out there so I crossed the valley further down and as I came to the tree line the first buck was staring straight at me from about y
  10. I have seen some very good dogs bred from putting mixed blood lurchers back to pure collies. Very few have enough pace to be out and out coursing dogs but they normally are versatile good all round hard workers without some of the hyperactive qualities that sons first crosses can exhibit
  11. Mr Jones which is in hancocks yard now, I was talkino about
  12. Best I have seen was a border/beardie from hancock, his owner used to be on here, saw the dog take around 100 fox in a winter, decent on rabbits, loved fallow deer,he was a machine.what sort height was he then .atb bunnys. He was 25 or 26 inch mate,if the owner is still on here under another name he might chime in,this was around 25 years back, the dog was frequently worked across Essex and Hertfordshire back then, the owner was from the north-east but used to travel down weekly.I think back then the dogs from there were not to bad I had a small bearded border bitch for a bit ,nowadays I'm wonderin
  13. I have now warning Only click the link if you want to see http://templeton01436.blogspot.co.uk/2017/10/2017-las-vegas-mass-shooting-things.html It's been pointed out that all the casings sitting on top of that thick pool of blood behind his head are all clean? Has that scene been contrived? I would suspect that after the body fell to the floor the blood flowed out and soaked undress the cartridge cases?
  14. I'm not old enough for golf.... ....I can go for a long walk without a stick
  15. Good work to end the suffering, men. A mate of mine had two rutting bucks tied together with electric tape and managed to shoot both but with great difficulty. Think he had some pictures I will ask him

    Anybody

So the lazy f@ckers in nick decide to leave their rubbish lying around everywhere and we should feel sorry for them? Wow.
  17. Yeah it was a small caiman and would have been recently dumped BGD is right.
  18. It's an interesting question novice. These are not weedy or poor doers they are fithe muscular and healthy just slim and gazelle-like. The original root stock is of similar type and I have read that other herds from this bloodline are too. It's a bit like saying that whippets are smaller than greyhounds because they are inbred rather than because that is how they have evolved. Apart from size inbreeding will manifest as things like low fertility or minor deformations like bent tails bug we have none of that here. I believe that these deer have gone through the genetic bottleneck many gener
  19. The best dog I ever saw in 35 years was a border beardie cross grey. I have spoken about that dog before on here and of all the dogs I have seen it was the one I would dearly have loved to own. Each to their own but if you can understand the primitive qualities that collies possess and the way in which their obsessive nature can be trained to your advantage then you will never want a dog without some collie in it. But if you don't understand them then they are not the dog for you.
  20. Nice buck. The wild bucks round here lol like that?
  21. Yeah up in Ashridge near us they do too. It is the herds which have been bred down from the eppingreat herd which have the stick like antlers
  22. There are proper feral herds in Epping but also the encloved der which have supposedly been genetically isolated for 500 years or more. I can't remember the exact story but I think they came from Denmark as a gift to one of the English kings. Whipsnade have had a herd from this group for about 50 years and they too have the same characteristics.
