  1. Valboskie best bet is to ring tony wall at SFS and ask him what works carried out in his stage 2 tune! He is a closely guarded chap and rightly so, so he might not tell you everything but you'll get an idea. Just tell him your looking to buy a second hand 97 that you believe he has previously tuned. He's a true gent and will help you out I'm sure. Suffice to say though I already know his work involves more than taking out original components and putting in replacements! Mawders
  2. Cheers for the comments lads. Oh and timmy we are going to have to meet soon and have a shoot!
  3. I've heard many people really rate a vmach kit in their tx and their 97's but never shot one myself! I can only vouch for Tony's work I'm afraid mate which is spot on! I think your leaning towards the tx from how your posts have come across. They are brilliant out the box and I don't know one person that hasn't given them a glowing report, it is cheaper as you stated which will save you money and if its for plinking and light work it will be great but if you ever want to take the sport to the next level and get serious about groupings, target shooting, entering competitions the 97 s2 tune
  4. Couldn't agree more mate! Having shot the stage 2 tuned 97 and having owned a .22 tx200hc mk3 the 97 wins hands down but hey each to their own I guess. Variety is the spice of life. Phil
  5. No problem Si anytime! Oh and yes it is physically impossible to make some of those groups any smaller even with a pcp! Tony's work in my book is as good as it gets! Phil
  6. Hey mate, I know its his go to rifle, it means alot to be leant a rifle as previously discussed mate. It will be treated better than the wife and kids, lol. Si's a top bloke as you know for lending me it. lets hope it doesn't sense a change of ownership and refuse to shoot for me! Phil
  7. I'll second that, witnessed it myself! The clarity and balance of those scopes is astonishing! Well worth every penny if you can afford it! Mawders
  8. Just a quick post all, Today I was joined for a shoot by a man I consider to be one of the best shots out there and a credit to the sport. Unfortunately though my new rifle is still being tinkered with which meant I was loaned a rifle from this person I mention above. A couple of pictures of the rifle I was loaned. Most of you will recognise its a HW97KT in .22 Cal but this ones just a little bit special indeed! I had seen this rifle in action for about 9 months now off and on and have always been pleasantly surprised at just how accurate it appeared to be. Tonigh
  9. Think mr pittaway has that scope with same reticule mate.
  10. Yep 100% accurate. Look on top of the loading port on the blueing it should have a black and gold sticker if its been tuned by tony.
  11. Superdomes are well cheap, try them, you might be surprised, I used some in a hw35 I borrowed recently and it shot lovely little groups at 30 yards.
  12. Hw35, the others don't come close!
  13. The HW97 everyday of the week mate! I would snap his hand off at that price as well because it would cost about another £200 to get the same rifle with the same stage 2 tune brand new from tony and you'll also have to wait 4 to 8 weeks for the pleasure he's that snowed under at the moment! Forget the tx mate. Mawders
  14. Mate, Where to start! My wife just doesn't get the whole shooting thing full stop! She doesn't understand anything I NEED to buy and accuses me of wasting money! When I go shooting which recently has been few and far between she texts me after I've been gone 2 hours and wants to know if I'm coming home yet, what you have to realise is it takes 50 mins to drive to my main perm which she's fully aware of! Lol She just doesn't get the whole thing, must say though she's getting better recently and being more understanding but will never truly understand!
  15. Get in touch with Sheffield custom stocks on the net, they might be able to do a stock for your rifle and I reckon it would cost in the region of £160 but it will be walnut and just like the original stock.
  16. Lovely dogs the jack Russell's, when I was a kid I remember going ferreting with my uncle who owned two jack Russell's, used to love watching them go down the holes!
  17. Awesome fun! Certainly makes the dog walk more fun. Great vids guys.
  18. Well played lads, some awesome shooting Davey! Good narration as well mate. Keep up the quality vids. Phil
  19. I WANT one! That rifle looks damn sexy mate! You lucky plucker you!
  20. Fry they don't come with a walnut stock, the hw stocks are hardwood that get stained to look like walnut or beech effect. You'll need a custom stock from Sheffield custom stocks, they are walnut and lovely to boot!
  21. Regarded by most as the best break barrel springer! Essentially a mighty work horse. John darling was a master shot with his! If he were still around I would be willing to bet he would still use his to this day.
  22. Lewis that's a nice rifle, just wondering why you want a tune, get some lead down her breach and enjoy her. They are solid built to last rifles them!
  23. And there in lies the problem with some gun shops, they are stuck in their ways, don't shoot and don't keep ontop of current airgun affairs! They are usually old and set in their ways and will argue the toss with customers which is NOT good for business! They deserve to close if they act in this manner, I don't care! The Internet allows you to have what pellets and stuff YOU want without having to have a discussion or argument about it! I thought Allsports was a one off as the most unpleasant experience anyone could wish to have but it would appear there are more shops out there willing t
  24. Amen to that brother! Allsports is my local shop to but I would rather burn 30 quids worth of fuel and visit sandwell field sports for my hobby and sport! Says alot about the attitude of the staff at allsports if I'm willing to burn 30 quid over about 1 quids worth of fuel! I wouldn't care less if that shop vanished in a massive black hole!!! They make business selling over priced rubbish to foolish or new people to the sport who don't know any better! It still makes me chuckle that the bloke dared argue with me about pellets stating that a wasp pellet is just as good as AA fields lol. I
