Nasty dirty aggressive things that need a serious cull. My old Ma moved to the south east English coast a few years back and her town is plagued by them and every year they get braver, when they've got nests and young they'll dive off the buildings at dogs that come past leaving some with nasty injuries and the council still refuse to do anything about them they just warn dog owners to stay away from certain areas during nesting season!

Plenty of kids have been dragged up on estates by junkies and become good respectable young adults too, were their parents not failures either? Just because a kid can grow up into a decent adult in spite of how they were raised doesn't excuse the parents.

Smacking as punishment isn't needed and I think if you have to resort to it to control your brats you've failed as a parent but if your kid is say reaching for the hot stove or about to pick up something dangerous the short sharp shock of a clip round the ear is very effective... We don't smack our dogs when training them because we know it usually does more harm than good so why resort to using violence to "train" our children? When you say 3 hours walk do you mean 3 hours pottering round the park on lead, 3 hours pounding pavement at a jogging pace or 3 hours looning about off the lead? It might not be the amount of exercise he's getting so much as the quality. You need to stimulate his mind as well his body, take him to new areas finding interesting smells to sniff and trails to follow etc or playing games with him that make him use the old grey matter.

Brilliant pal, it can't be said enough how much you should be admired for sticking at this when so many others give up when the rspca start to drag it through the courts as slowly as possible. Have you noticed any signs of trauma in the way they've been acting since you got them back? Get some good grub down their necks and make a real fuss of them (sure you don't need to be told that ) hopefully any psychological effects from their ordeal will be short lived now they're back in safe surroundings.
