Tallies with what I am reading Allan they seem be an in between of a cauli and broccoli looks like I better eat it at the weekend. They look great and a bit of a novelty shame they weren't the size of a foot ball. My daughter is looking forward to see it because apparently its a fibonacci number anyway she can count it and I will eat it -

My first romanesco heading up it is only about 4 inch round at the moment not sure how big they get I will look it up. Thought I better get a pic before some thing goes wrong with it The slugs are running riot at the moment my tomatoes that have now all split with the rain are getting drilled. My beetroot I was leaving in the ground are getting ringed. My nice row of recently sown turnips I have about 3 left. Been putting pellets down and a nice row of dead slugs down my turnip row but they are unstoppable. You can only put so many pellets down before it starts getting bit ridiculous. On -
people seem to use it as a mixer but its a complete food ?

Never mind terry you win some you lose some.I have not grown sweetcorn that often to be honest. Some of the blokes on the plot hand pollinate their plants will you give that a try next year? Yes I think so John all so plant much more. As I say it was windy so I thought that would do it but in hind site I probably just pollinated the guys 400 yards away -

I think my sweet corn suffered from a lack of pollination I did plant them in a block but let them get on with it as we had lots of wind so I didn't intervene and manually do any thing. We will try again next year -

not much else to be done at the moment just pick what ever I fancy and all winter veg is in so thats it really. Just keep on top of any digging as stuff comes out so I don't suddenly have a whole plot to do. Bet you have some dam nice yokes on the them eggs lovely -
Sounds like you done well on your own and a tidy start to the season do you have a pup in the wings then ?
-
Was reading an old article in the country mans weekly about maybe it made sense to start a pup a bit early so it could find its feet when chasing stuff and less likely to be so full on. Rather than show a 12 month old a dog a rabbit for the first time so it goes hell for leather straight into the wire or what ever.

This was my tom back in the eighties great dog and lovely nature. Cracking on the lamp but unfortunately took a terminal fall one night in his third year Don't have any decent pictures of him. He was a lurcher to lurcher no idea of the mix but workers
-
My best ever was a terrier the main reason was he could enter any cover and track the rabbit till it went to ground. So once he scented a rabbit it was game on . Obviously wouldn't catch a rabbit on the run but that didn't matter. A lurcher physically just can't enter the same cover but they have there own advantages and this day and age with badgers every where a lurcher for me would be the way to go. and here he is

Bought up by the grand parents and grandad had zero patience if you got under his feet you got a clout. Wouldn't change a thing though and it taught me to move quick
