And a good yeild with them. http://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=3&ved=0CCwQFjAC&url=http%3A%2F%2Fapps.rhs.org.uk%2Fplanttrials%2FTrialReports%2FOnion%2520globe%2520bulb%2520types%25201995.pdf&ei=3ivQU4HBCsbe7Aa26oCQDw&usg=AFQjCNFMvqiVnwBKMeTMqMf
  4. Thanks Allan I will look them up and try from seed next year. Love that cabin John could spend hours in there drinking tea and admiring the crops
  5. This years onion harvest sure some were bigger when I planted them not what I was hoping for but learnt a lot for me don't bother over wintering. Don't bother planting too early my mates went in late april and now they are bigger than tennis balls with big green tops. Oh and put pellets down cause slugs like them But should last a few months anyway
  6. Looks nice that Few toms in the back yard though the plants all ways look miserable. Feed them comfrey once a week
  7. did you try paypal and raise a dispute you have 45 days or have you passed 45 days
  8. If you paid via paypal can't you just log a case paypal are pretty good for the buyer now days and tend to get things resolved cause they just freeze the funds or did you run out of time
  9. I am attempting some romanesco cauliflower don't fancy my chances though. I know one thing sharp express spuds are going back on the list next year they make a cracking chip if left to bulk up a bit. Just had some with marrow chutney, beetroot and a slice of beef very nice
  10. He basically ripped people off for millions and pretty much got away with it. Lucky he didn't end up behind bars. I know he lost millions too but I bet his far from skint in his big ranch and apart from feeling a bit unpopular when he wakes up he is sitting pretty On the other side of the coin great athlete survived cancer and raised a fortune to help others job to know what to make of him
  11. Had two like that so far I classed them as a raging success Been getting some nice cabbage lately too
  12. I think it is in the blood or the upbringing. I started running around with a bow and arrow at about 8 trying unsuccessfully to get a rabbit on the fens and then when we moved to wales met some old timer who taught me snaring and stuff and went from there. But I saw some distant family on facebook on my fathers brothers side and there pictures of there kids holding up rabbits and fishing etc so maybe it is in the genes
  13. Picked the bulk of the black currants today glad to get that job done my baking skills are bit rough but I am all about the taste picked my first chioggia beets today thought it was a dam big raddish I has missed and nearly threw them on the compost but thought sod it can't waste them so took a bite then dawned on me I had mixed the chioggia with the normal beets
  14. Your getting way too technical lately jj be setting up live camera feed next
  15. this might help you http://www.realseeds.co.uk/Monthlysowing.html
  16. Bloody hell jj thats all looking very pristine and healthy I like the black pipe round the bottom of them plants too
  17. Mine were the same both of them I started at one end and sliced the top off with a spade and piled it up out the way then dug it over with a fork and planted as I went so i least I could see stuff growing behind me. Just worked along like that. Hard graft but I like to get my head down and get stuck in but you can go at what ever pace you feel like. I didn't have a strimmer but that would have made it a lot easier too. I would give it a go nothing to lose For the first year you can also pick up plants from the garden centre to give you a head start sprouts and cabbage and stuff
  18. Terry if you cut the fruit baring stalks off the black current bushes, strip them then put in a bucket of water they will root and are viable but will take 2 years to fruit. They fruit on second year growth so should be pruned out after the second year to allow room for this years growth to fruit next year. keeps the bushes compact and gives a better crop the next year. Another tip I was given for fruit trees when preparing a bed for them fill the bottom of the bed with feathers, they break down very slowly and release nitrogen over a period of years. TC Thanks Allan I didn't k
  19. Every thing looks great there Millet a lot of stuff in little space. I am replacing my spuds as I go sprouts and kale in here few pickings from today shed load of black currants to pick was hoping to just break the smaller branches off and sort at home but mixture of ripe and unripe at the moment. Could all ways pick them individually I guess I can see a job coming for the kids there
  20. Beltin Marin Terry...not sure about how your bar ends are sighted (wink)....guess we each have our peccadilloes (big grin). They could do with a bit of realignment
  21. Bought this steel marin for 70 quid reliable old thing and good work horse also quite nippy if needs be
  22. carrera subway despite being a halfords bike have a good reputation and go cheap second hand dont get a cheap bike like one of the apollo range or a tesco job they will be complete rubbish and you won't ride it they weigh a ton
  23. Your not alone that was the high lights the downs have been new spuds full of holes, Beetroot not germinating very well so took the module root which works. Endless planting of peas that the mice had before I soaked in paraffin. Caulis that I suspect will end up like marbles and as for carrots no comment But the wins more than make up for it
