  1. Alright mate, i used to love using crucian's, mainly because there was a little pond close by where i could catch a few when i needed them, but i do like to use grayling of the right size, plus i enjoy fishing for them.I have mainly used roach, like most pikers have (i think) and have caught mostly on roach, only because used the most, i used to use goldfish, but caught mainly jack's. Hope your doing well mate,i have'nt been on here much lately, just started carp fishing as the pike are spawning, i fish the same lake for carp aswell as pike and it's good to see some of the pike spawning.
  2. It's great when the weather keeps most people off the banks, just as the big girl's are getting their heads down on some serious grubbing about, i still put a few mixes together but don't use any flavours, i let the oils and csl attract them to the bait but like flipper said you can get some great baits rolled for you now at a good price.
  3. The relax kopytos must be one of the best soft lures out there, all sizes seam to work well.
  4. You can't go wrong with the old shimano reels.
  5. There's plenty of pike in canal's if you put the hour's in, just leapfrog your rod's every 45 minutes and you will find them, the last hour or two of light is when the big girl's should be mooching about, like northern lad said drop a livey in, maybe by a moored barge and get ready, good luck mate.
  6. Put me on the fishing list mate, sounded like a great weekend last year.
  7. They've been coming out the mersey up to 8lb i've heard, that was last weekend.
  8. Speaking to a few lads in other area's they are saying the pike fishing is'nt the same as usual yet, maybe we need it to get a bit colder, it feels to me that were a month behind with the weather, so really it's only the first week of november but it should get proper cold in a week or two then we will see some decent pike, saying that i have heard of a forty and a couple of thirty's of chew, neville f has supposed to of had a 34lber and nathan edgell has had a new river pb of 34lb i think, the pics were great, proper crocs i'd shit myself so anyway let's get out there and catch them
  9. I hate to just cast out and then wait for a bite, i like to keep active, like you said everyone has there own way, i've seen my mate set his traps and then just sit there till the alarm goes off, not my way, i like to keep topping the swim up, always looking for sign's of fish, try a few floater's, have a walk around with a stalking rod to a few baited up swims, i don't worry about rig's or bait's as i'm happy with them, as for having a walk around there's not many that can refuse a big fat lobworm on a size 4, oh i can't wait for spring i put my carp gear away on wednesday after having a b
  10. Great fish gibbo and your right the tutti's are still a great bait, i don't use them as much as i should but i did use them a few times through the summer and did ok, not as good as you, by the look's of thing's.
  11. That's what it's all about, just being there, some don't enjoy it as much because there to worried that they might blank or they haven't got the latest pod, rod's, bivvy etc. I've done the tarty thing myself the all stainless shiny set up, weighs half a ton in scrap but i've carried it half a mile to my favourite swim, it all look's great with my stainless indicaters to match, i don't care if i blank coz my set up look's great you should use whatever tackle you have, them fish will still take a bait if your rod is'nt worth £250 and how daft you look when the local farm lad comes down with
  12. You've got to enjoy your time on the bank, whatever your after, i don't compete against anyone, i just try to enjoy as much as i can and if i get a few, well it's a good day. But i still have a few secret rigs and baits. Just get out there, it's better than that box in your living room.
  13. You spend all your money on lures and then they go on snatching feeders
  14. Small black spider is a good fly for grayling, brown sedge fly and a pheasant tail nymph.
  15. Well done mate, i bet that's put you in the mood for a few more session's, hope your season is full of big fish.
  16. He is cool by the looks of it, great to see young lad's trying the fly, too many of them go straight out carp fishing so it's a good thing that he has taken to flyfishing, it's a great way to learn how the fish feed and what they are taking, good luck mate.

    The Booze

Like a few watching the match but nothing big, the hangovers are not worth it for me, maybe a few on a saturday night.
  18. Nothing worse mate, i hate it when i see that type of thing, like you said you've got to find somewhere that they don't go, which is hard to find, good luck.
  19. Tried a new place yesterday, there's pike in there but i fished for carp and had a 10lb 8oz common, nothing special i know but i usually blank first time on a new water so it made a nice change, i will probably have a couple more week's at the carp, then pike fish it through the winter, i love the feeling you get when you start a new water and i have another two that i have never fished yet, so the winter hold's plenty of new idea's for me, i hope with a few fish, good luck to everyone who get's out there and be careful through the winter.
