  1. Good find Fry, I believe the Marksman pellets were only any good for low powered rifles they certainly didnt group well in full powered rifles I used to shoot them in the 1950's onwards untill better stuff came along, the progunner ammo if my shaky memory serves me right was lead ball pellets like BB ammo. again not very accurate in good rifles.
  2. Lewis, for most of last century British air rifles in .22 were made to use pellets of 5.6 bore instead of the European 5.5 . Wasp still make pellets in 5.6 plus 5.5 for other makes of rifles. Try a tin of 5.6 Wasps they might be excellent in your gun and the one good thing is they are much cheaper than the expensive European imported ones.
  3. Andyfri is correct, some of the Theoben springers had very short barrels 8inch if I remember but fitted with their own moderators to ease cocking. Pre charged rifles are more efficient with longer barrels. Springers, as pointed out as long as it has the muzzle and crown done correctly and running at the same FPS as a longer barrelled then there is no differance in accuracy or range. If you believe you need a longer barrel to hit the target then you just have to step further forward (JOKE)
  4. If your scope was OK before then you might have disturbed your barrel alignment by your gun falling over when rested, or have you clonked your gun at any time? as your gun is recoilless your scope hasnt been subject to recoil forces. Slack off your forward barrel support then retighten and start again to check your zero.
  5. I have found for pigeons rats and squirrels around farm buildings the red dot sights are just the job for quick target pick up I found out years ago that trying to adjust a scope down to the range of the quarry meant often losing the chance of a shot obviously the quality varies from make to make but Hawke make good ones keep away from the ones being offered for uder £15.00 as they are a waste of time.
  6. Its possible the hammer spring has lost a little power, At the back of the spring there is a threaded cup which is for adjusting the power output. If its still under 11FPE its worth adjusting to put a bit more preload onto the hammer spring to your preferance.
  7. Its possible the hammer has been lubriated with a thicker oil than usual, those models need a very small amout of lubricant something like WD40 is ideal ordinary gun oil is too thick and with the very cold weather we have at the moment it thickens up gun oil, creating drag on the hammer which affects the velocity. make sure though first that the tiny O ring on the pellet probe is not damaged or even missing as that can lose you 4 FLBS easily.
  8. If you are sure the Scorpion is a T10 then its a 10 shot rifle plus it has a regulater fitted. plus it has more shots per charge! If its a single shot Scorpion then again has more shots than the S200. Myself I would go for the T10.
  9. For the last couple of days I have been drove mad by a terrific maddening itch on the underside of my foot! My local GP has'ent a clue but I think I know what it is. I think I have "Itching My Toesit!"
  10. Listen to Marksman, he'se got a lot of experience with the top moderators, the telling comment from him is honest. He actually sells excellent moderators! BUT NOTE! he didnt try to push you to buy one of the brand he sells. A lot of stuff being touted as the dogs danglies isnt any better than the lower priced stuff. Well said Dazzer.
  11. Sounds as if the front barrel support has moved when you dropped your rifle. no problem, slack off the barrel support and retighten then reset zero.
  12. Removed as the post was duplicated from above.
  13. No Bud, as long as you still have vertical and horizontal adjustment left on your turrets then you are good to go. obviously if you find you need still more turret adjustment then its back perhaps to another packing slip. if you find you still have a bit extra, then your OK.
  14. Thanks Ozzie. It is appreciated when the asker thanks for information received. Good man,
  15. No, just refit your scope after fitting your back mount packing. then try it at the range you have. you will soon find out if you still have extra reticule movement when doing so. if not? then try extra packing slips to get some kind of central/vertical adjustment.
  16. Hey Bazza, leave my mate Tim alone!! STOP PICKING ON HIM!!
  17. Twas only 2 old goats rattling horns Craig, no point in getting older if you can't argue once in a while. Bloody hell, I even argue with myself if I can't nail someone else. My missus says I can cause a fight in a empty room!! FFS,Where will it ever end??
  18. I dunno mate I think he should calm down and stop causing trouble on the site !!! Theres going to come a time when the barrel locking detent on his Stoeger begins to fail like most do after a few hundred shots. If he keeps being a trouble maker I shant tell him how to repair it !!!
  19. The AA 400/410 series rifles have a brass chamber fitted on the receiver end of the barrel, I have allways used a smear of epoxy resin to secure it to the barrel, this can allways be removed by applying heat to it... If your replacement barrel comes without one fitted you can use your existing one to put on it. Rememember if you are changing calibres from .22 to.177 then your .22 brass chamber will not be any good, you will have to change the Bolt ass, and the brass chamber part. as said earlier it is a simple job to remove/refit. I dont know where you will get a replacement from try Chamber
  20. Sorry for the late reply Tim, I put you on my list not to read any of your posts I have just been told about your reply by a fellow member on here. So I didnt know about it untill a few minutes ago. OK Bud I too am willing to be mates on here if your a mate of Craigs you cant be a bad bloke!.
  21. Hiya John, It is very easy to remove and replace a AA 410 barrel, To do so first remove the magazine retaining clip on the front of the receiver , it is the part at the very front of the scope mounting rails. underneath that there is two 3m/m grubscrews which hold the barrel in place, slacken off by at least 4 complete turns then carefully twist the barrel out. on re asembly make sure the transfer port in the brass bush which has to be glued to the replacement barrel is in a six oclock position when you fit the replacement barrel. as if it is not correctly aligned the air flow will be mas
  22. Hiya Craig mate, I am sorry you are leaving the site I will miss your words of wisdom and acid wit!! maybe we will meet up at Penkridge or Furnace mill you can bring Tim along as well and we will have a laugh! Cheers Craig Mate, ATVB. Ron.
  23. If there's one thing I hate it's people who don't read posts properly or give advice without knowing what they're bloody talking about. It's easy to talk crap and screw up someone who needs basic advice and guidance. Simple advice, given from experience, that's what the op needs. Not some crap that someone THINKS they know and regurgitates just to see their name on a post. You mate talk total nonsense at times, You had a go at me first. I can probally say I have been shooting airguns/ tuning/and such for at least 60 years now, I was in to modifying airguns before you was born. there isnt a
