  1. Hi mate, youve done an honourable thing. Do you know what he is like with other dogs? do you have him outside or is he ok inside?
  2. .......guys guys, what is wrong with you all?? terrier sport has enough enemies without constant internal bickering!! I like both dogs and Im sure Gravel's dog will work..its certainly looks smart. Lumps dog is a proper russell obviously doing the business which is fantastic to see as a Russell fan. I actually knew Brain Plummer so know those dogs were bred 100% for work and the older lines and outcrossed parallel lines dug and ratted so if the modern ones have half their ability you will have a mega dog Gravel. Just on the raggin rats thing it is true almost any half decent terrier at 5-6mont
  3. Cheers guys. gonna get out to a local range soon and get some practice in then out in the field... p.s. mine is .177
  4. Thanks mate, they did say 'it will settle down after 200 pellets or so put through it' and yes I see your point on the mechanical noise next to cheek/ear. Really looking forward to getting it out in field.
  5. Hi Chaps. Ive just treated myself to a Weirhach HW97KT with sythetic stock. It is also fitted with a Hawke Panorama 4.9 x 50 scope with the red or blue illuminated crosshair thingy? After many years break I am ressurecting my once very active fieldsports activities and this is first step. The gun looks brilliant and the gun shop assured me it will knock the socks off what i used to have and be perfect for hunting. I used to shoot lots of Rabbits at night on land we ferreted and ran with lurchers at other times so hopefully i will get back into the grove. Im really after sensible constr
  6. Dotty, the dam is the red merle and her mother was a bull/grey/whippet and her father a collie/grey, hence her being a bull/grey/whippet x collie/grey. The sire to the litter is the rough coated grey/white dog which is a collie/greyhound. So I'm not quite sure what point you are trying to make. As for giving dogs away for free, great if you have enough friends/family who want one, on the other hand advertising pups at a higher price is the fastest way to sift out the time wasters and idiots from the genuine dog people. I wouldn't give my dog away to someone i'd only just met who said th
  7. Total sympathy for you mate. Take them indoors for a bit or put them somewhere else. Its certainly not funny.
  8. I wondered the same tbh. Lets hope not and if not I say good luck and defo keep him.
  9. Fair enough for asking the question. Firstly, the fact that a dog is aggressive with other dogs is NOTHING to do with its working breeding etc. Some foolish people that call themselves terrier men think some how agression = working credentials. Rubbish. Some of the best and hardest working dogs I have ever seen were placid and sociable and quite content in the company of other dogs. Its is more to do with how the dog has been treated to date and some agression can be normal if the dogs has, for example, been locked in a kennel and not socialised or exercised properly. Personally it looks a gre
  10. Good to see a different cross. Fair play and real good luck
  11. They look great. Not personally a fan of Bull blood in Lurchers but crossed they way you have I think theyd make brilliant allrounders. I also think the price is fine, ATB.
  12. Why do people talk utter macho shite. "I treat my dogs hard blah blah blah" from my experience usually equates to i cant be arsed looking after them or training them properly. Nonsense. Anyway, bitches for me. More biddable and trainable and naturally inclined to work from the get go, thats a genetic fact.
  13. Brilliant. lovely to see non-typical dogs doing the business and being well thought of. My mate had a collie type that was a great all rounder with endless stamina, she would ferret, lamp, work alongside terriers and was mustard ratting, although from memory her insistence on retrieving the rats to hand was a bit comical...
  14. you wont go wrong with a good Russell. Ive got a Russell x Paterdale who has ben a brilliant dog and very good with kids etc..
  15. superb border/bearded crosses are very intelligent, full of stamina and strength but not always as racey as some other crosses. I had one which caught hundreds of rabbits in the dales and had more brain power than me and my mates.....!!
  16. sorry about your loss..true dogmen have a bond with their dogs and its a sad day when they go..... looked an absolute cracker....
  17. i remember someone putting that up ages ago think it was just a pup lot of lads slated the terrier but on the flip side it never turned and run with its tail between its legs did it Sorry mate I don't think there's any excusing that performance. How old was the dog? i aint making any excuses i dont know feck all about it was just commenting it been on here before thats all In reality, underground, that is often what happens when a dog sees a fox for the first time. When I used to work terriers pre-ban one of my best dogs acted exactly like that on her first fox after
  18. Well done mate, I was the guy with the vetran Bedlington cross talking to you at the ring. we watched you and were chuffed when you got the 3rd out of that big class! I thought the show was pretty good, although the schedules were a bit confusing!
