  1. Last two years I've had very little from my apple or plum; for me it looks like my fruit famine is over. I was beginning to think the trees were having time off. This year my trees have produced tons of fruit - enough for us and family and friends.
  2. And another entirely meaningful thread evolves on THL...
  3. In the end I went for another tasco 6-24 x 42; stuck with what I know! Thanks for all the input everyone

  5. Anyone had a scope by these guys? The price seems too good to be true. Whats your experience of them? Cheers Duncan
  6. i forgot to put the velcro on my stock for the lamp switch, so i was holding that all funny aswell it was really awkward so holding the rifle steady was a lot harder. just glad it dropped and didnt get away injured. Compromised stance then, glad you got a quick, humane kill nonetheless. Happy hunting
  7. My own apple tree is having its best year ever after a year or two off, same for the plum tree
  8. Hawkes are normally fine on springers, as are jsr scopes and many others. Sounds like your scopes fubar'd. In your shoes I'd take the to another gunsmith and ask for a full description of whats wrong with it. Impossible to diagnose without seeing it I'm afraid.
  9. 2nd point first - I've had good experience of hawke scopes with springers - could it be that the scope is broken? Try a different one first, but to me it sounds like the scope is fooked. The - don't know which gun shop you've tried or their reputation, but did they say what has been bored out? Could be they meant the compression chamber, in which case there should be a larger piston fitted. If I was closer I'd have a look, but a second opinion is needed I reckon. ATB Duncan.
  10. If its a powder burner, don't shoot anything skylined. Air power - no problem with skylined quarry as long as you're on a decent sized permission where the pellet is unlikely to leave your air space.
  11. But answered by a decent member so good luck to both of them!
  12. Nice one! Those offhand standing shots are the hardest ones to do accurately. I practise them every day without fail and get good headshot results for it. Practise, practise, practise.
  13. Glenmorangie mmmmmm
  14. Well, its not royal cricket, but not the end of the world either. Has he let the rest of the royals down bhy being himself? Not in my book. You're only young once!
  15. Welcome to the forum Kate - might be an idea to get one dog up to speed before starting another one, but thats just my take. I know how addictive hunting dogs can be. Enjoy every moment ATB Duncan
  16. My 95K in .22 was the perfect break-barrel springer. Unerringly accurate and light, smooth recoil too, always regretted selling it when I 'upgraded' to a HW100.
  17. Hit em between ear and eye and the calibre will be irrelevant. I've been a .22 man for many years but switched to .177 6 years ago - easier to be accurate with at range and with a sub 12 fpe rifle, accuracy is everything.
  18. If I was the type to get violent when drinking, I simply wouldn't drink.
  19. sometimes a touch of alcohol saves relationships, or prolongs the agony?
  20. I don't drink. I comfort drink. Like the wife comfort eats
  21. Just been granted my .243 on top of other calibres, says I'm allowed expanding ammunition for use on deer. Thats in Thames Valley area.
