3/4 Greyhound 1/4 Deerhound. She's a cracking bitch and I'm happy enough with her. Doesn't miss much, jumps well, retrieves live to hand, very intelligent and very loyal.

. If the lad who passed away was mikey (aka Chesney ) from Darlington the dog he had was off Craig Nuttal one of his coursing dogs and gwp first cross No it was a lad from West Auckland, my pal knew him from college.

I reckon one over a coursing type would be good x . Coursing Grey maybe.. Not a fan of Saluki's myself. All the ones I or friends have owned have been daft as brushes and nothing spectacular in the field. Not seen a saluki do anything a good fit lurcher cant.. Cue the Saluki lovers hate mail... haha

I had a night out with a lad local to me a few years ago who has sadly since passed away. He had a first cross GWP x Grey who was a cracking looking bitch, she seemed to do alright on short runs on rabbits but lacked the pace when running bigger game and would yap with frustration. After a tight turn she really seemed to struggle to build up speed to get back behind it, and by the time she had it would turn again and get quite a bit of distance from her. What she lacked in speed though, she made up for with her nose. She would be alert to where game was before we'd even turned the lamp on an

Years ago when I was out my missus was getting stick off 2 traveller men in front garden ,they wanted something of mine which I wasn't getting rid of,so she told eldest to let Maggie loose from kitchen, they still stood there till Maggie came racing down the house and round the corner,Maggie was a 9 1/2 stone rotty ,apperently they jumped back an shut the gate real quick Pmsl . We also had a big german shepherd bitch a few years ago which my sister let her 2 year old daughter name... 'Margaret' of all names! She got Maggie for short, lovely bitch from some decent breeding and very protect

It is beyond belief that people still read The Daily Fail haha.

Well just keep reporting them until they're forced to get rid of them then.. I know I'd rather use a shock collar on my dog than be forced to get rid.

Was speaking to a woman with a litter of pups when I took mine to the vets for their jabs, they were French Bulldog x Shihtzu. 'French BullShits' as she called them. She was asking £1500 a pup as she said she paid nearly £7k for the French Bulldog apparently. She was astounded that i was charging so little for my Patterdale pups in comparison. It's rife up our way people breeding these 'designer crossbreeds' and charging a bloody fortune for them, but its the fools who buy them who allow it to keep happening!

I've been wondering if there's anything I could use to try bring my dog in to season also. She's 3 1/2 now and hasn't had one yet, been to vet about it who proposed scans and ovary biopsy (at a ridiculous price). Im not convinced on breeding from her completely as of yet like but would be nice to know the option is there. Has anyone had any similar experience of bitches not coming into season at all? My dad said he had one years ago who was barren and never came in at all throughout the 11 years he had her. She used to be kennelled with a bitch who cycled regularly up until around a y

Same with my old dog, was dew-clawed as a pup before we got him then one of the buggers just grew back! Couldn't believe it, at first it was just like a stub without a nail then after time the nail came through and it looked as if it had never been cut off. Most people just presumed he must've lost one out working, not grew one back after having the pair cut off

Had a lurcher that wouldn't even let anyone stroke her once, just didn't seem to like being bothered with at all to be honest. Found her impossible to bond with and train and subsequently rehomed her to a pet home as she was no good for what I needed. My Deerhound Greyhound on the other hand is like my feckin' shadow! she's a kennel dog but when allowed in she literally doesn't let me get more than a metre or two away from her and even follows me to the bog! It's frustrating but I'd rather her be that way than like the other. Thinks she's a lap dog too and tries to lie on top of you, if im lai

Very concerning especially as its only a couple of minutes away from some of my permission! Quite a few of the farms up that way have been having break-ins recently too, with my permission being hit a couple of days after Christmas.. W@NK3RS! Hope Andy is recovering well and keen to get back out, also hope that these scumbags are caught soon! People like that need locking up! (and a good flogging themselves)

I don't know about the RSPCA Dan but the ISPCA have already prosecuted someone for docking a litter of Jack Russell pups and in the letter of the law it's classed as mutilation which sounds bad, especially for something so simple. You can pierce a 6 month old baby's ears but you can't dock a 5 day old pups tail. Silly. I'd been told that there have been a few done in England for it too so was advised to have mine done by vet and not a terrierman this time. Luckily, the vet is a friend of a friend who I trust and had vouched for him wholeheartedly. I'd always want to hear from previous

I only run one myself at the minute but seeing as ive picked up a few extra bits of permission this year I'm thinking of getting another. I'd only ever run as many dogs as I had enough work for personally. I'd rather have one that gets ran quite often than a few that just get the odd day or night. I can tell you one thing though, I've found it easier to walk multiple running dogs than my one Patterdale pup, little bugger is game as fire and full of beans!

Had a litter done in March, £25 a pup, docked with certs, first jab and microchip. Pups were docked on day 3 and I must say he did a spot on job, although no better than the terrierman who did the previous litter for a case of beer. I've heard that the RSPCA now do spot-checks on advertised docked litters and if you don't have the paperwork then they take the bitch and pups and sometimes go for a prosecution! Anybody experienced this or knows anyone who has?

Ive heard from a few people that their have lasted years and years, not sure if that's with frequent use or just the odd day out like. A bloke I know swears by them and says they're much harder wearing than the Le Chameaus.. As long as I get a good couple of years out of them i'll be happy, which I assume I should seeing as though my muckboots lasted 3 years and these are of much higher quality. Cheers for the advice though, I do give them a quick wipe off and store them properly so hopefully they wont perish, if they do i'll be contacting Aigle and demanding a new pair! haha

I've got a 3/4 Grey 1/4 Deerhound bitch just gone 3 years old. She only stands 26" to the shoulder which I think is quite small myself. She does fairly well on the rabbits and doesn't often miss a decent opportunity, no world beater by any means but she's an outright pleasure to own and run and catches enough for me to be happy with. Always kept the ferrets fed and provided me with game for stews and pies!

I'm an Estimator for a Structural Steel business so deal with the pricing of steel on a daily basis. Seems the whole situation is being blamed on China (which I agree are a big part of the issue) but it's also a lot of other European countries manufacturing and supplying the steel at a fraction of the cost of UK alternatives.. Maybe something the EU should be looking at?? The steel which we buy in has come down in price around 20% over the past 12 months or so, which on the scale of things is a large amount. It would be good if UK businesses were supporting local steel suppliers and doing

Went for the Aigle Parcours 2 ISO in the end, pretty happy with them so far but will have to see what they're like for a good night out lamping or a days beating. If he has any of the Le Chameau's still kicking about in my size in the spring I may get a pair for summer willies as they're a bit lighter and probably cooler. Unfortunately even though they're going cheaper than RRP I still couldn't afford both haha, he's a Scotsman so as you can imagine his prices aren't that much cheaper than RRP even though he told me he paid next to nothing for them in the scheme of things!

The Worst Person You've Took Lamping
DanRaistrick replied to bob84's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Once planned to go out with some mates, ended up about 6 of us with only 4 dogs as some just wanted to come see what all the fuss was about. We only went and bumped into another big group of lads we knew, in the end there were a team of about 11 of us out lamping. Daft buggers never shut up and couldn't have made any more noise if they had tried! fair to say we saw absolutely feck all that night over the 5 hours we were out. Also took a mate out with the air rifle and lamp one night on a bit of my permission. Lamped up and about 6/7 rabbits were sat approx. 90/100 yards away, the lad kept -
I've got the choice of 2 different pairs of wellies going pretty cheap as a bloke I work with bought out a closing hunting shop's stock. The 2 I'm choosing between are the Le Chameau Vega (non neoprene lined) and Aigle Parcours 2 (neoprene lined). Now I know both are supposed to be real good willies, as a few friends have vouched for the Le Chameau Vega and Vierzonord and I've heard good things about the Aigles, but which pair should I go for? Ive heard the Le Chameaus last for ages and are really comfortable, just I was concerned about them in the snow etc with not being neo lined. Ha
