  1. Hi Darren, just spotted your PM. Yes mate we'll definately sort a shoot out. I think the best method is going to be a natural hide where we know the rabbits frequent.. the 13th looks perfect. Very difficult to stalk up to the rabbits on the course, from what I've seen they tend to like the bunkers near the greens which are quite open for 100m+ Look forward to meeting up pal and getting to know the place a little better
  2. Well, I was up at 4am and out the door for 4.30am this morning to head to the new permission. I saw 6 rabbits in total, 5 of which didn't allow me to get within 60m and the one that did I missed from a standing position at 30m (schoolboy error). The rabbits are definately a bit more twitchy first thing in a morning and seem to know the difference between a golfer and a shooter. Must admit, thought I'd see more but its early days yet and I'm still getting to know the hot spots and the lay of the land. Took an opportunity to have a brew on the 5th tee at 5.30am and have a go with the panoram
  3. Cheers Mike. Was driven around the course this afternoon by Colin who pointed out all the hot spots where they seemed to be having trouble. Colin explained the course was 100 acres and there are three areas in particular where the rabbits are scratting the bunkers and burrowing into the soft land. It was a georgeous day and the course looked idillic. We spotted in excess of 15 rabbits in the 30 mins I was there and that was at 12pm in the afternoon, all of which allowed us to approach within 15 yards or so. After the tour I handed over my insurance documents and was informed that I wou
  4. Cheers lads its a permission made in heaven by all accounts but I'll know more about any restrictions, if any, tomorrow. If all goes to plan you'll see more posts, pictures and hopefully videos from me in the near future Will take some snaps of the permission asap
  5. Had a call today from Colin, the Head Greenkeeper of my local golf course telling me they had a shooting vacancy to control the rabbit numbers! I'd spoken with Colin several times over a period of a couple of years to try and get permission on this fantastic coastal golf course but to no avail My regular running route down a bridal path passes the rear of the course and there's always loads of rabbits darting around. Unfortunately it had always been regularly shot by the same group of guys and there has never been room for anyone else..that is until now! I'm meeting Colin tomorrow lun
  6. That's correct, whatever air rifle calibre you use in FAC they have to be under 1,000ft/sec for stability reasons
  7. Now that is what they call precision shooting, well done! Loving the MFR too, lovely rifle!
  8. Nice one Buster, looking forward to seeing the MFR
  9. This looks great! Be interesting if you can get equal grouping to manufactured pellets! How cost effective is it apose to buying pellets?
  10. Had a shoot with a 95' at the range last week. It felt lovely but boy did it twang! Bet it would be an awesome tool after being fettled by Tony
  11. Thanks chaps I really enjoy writing it up and taking the pictures Ha ha, that was a picture my dad took of me with the HW100KT just before I shot a rabbit on the railway embankment opposite. The land dips quite low so you can only see my top half. Lovely little permission that one, only around 12 acres but has an abandoned railway track on one side and a golf course on the other.. plenty of rabbits
  12. Very impressive Jamie, great shooting. Can't believe you have that many rabbits on your permission! What are you going to do with them all? ATB
  13. The father-in-law to be came up from London on Friday afternoon and after 24hrs I was already feeling the urge to escape from shopping and coffee shops to a more stress free environment out in the fields where everything seems to make more sense. What is it with the materialistic nature of people today, when did we feel the need to spend upwards of £12 on three cups of coffee? Maybe its just me. Anyway it got to 6pm and I couldn't resist the temptation anymore '"I'm off out for a walk" I said, Sarah knew I was referring to shooting. I recently purchased a Hawke Digi Nite Eye which I mounte
  14. Spot on that chaps, excellent shooting! Si, what mounts are you using they seem to keep the scope really low? Is it a 50mm scope? ATB
  15. So has anyone seen improved grouping on paper
  16. Cheers lads, they are a great bit of kit. Thanks for the kind words Mike, but I can't help sense a bit of smugness there from you Must be lovely! Yes Si, loving it mate, couldn't help but be impressed with your long range rabbit shot though. That takes some doing and is testiment to your rifle and shooting ability. Simon, I'll keep on the lookout for a left hand stock for you. I do like the look and feel of the HW77K in the HW97K stock. Will be using this rifle solely as my main tool and hone my shooting skills so keep on the lookout for futute posts
