  1. Oh yes, mainly sites throughout the south of england. But a few mates were up the midlands way, horsey lot. Always used to make me laugh at the cross section of people at some parties, hippy travellers, cheesy quavers, old punks, yardies, kids and loads of dags
  2. I spent alot (too much) time through the early 90's at free festivals and parties all over, never into clubs really just the great out doors events or warehouses which were FREE...Circus Warp, DIY, Bedlam and of course Spiral Tribe as a few of my mates all lived with the Spiral lot.. Put on a fair few events myself with a few rogues, then ran club nights for 3 or 4 years...great times. Summer of 92 it all went mad, Letchlade festival in early May was huge and then a few weeks after Castlemorton Common with 35'000 other nutters it kind of all went tit's up after than BUT WHAT A PARTY ...and
  3. Looks like a lighter brindle version of this little bugger of mine, whats the breeding of the bitch mate? She's quite similar mate BUT totally differently bred, Deerhound, greyhound, collie with a touch of Saluki and whippet.
  4. This bitch (not mine) was one of the most natural rabbit catchers I have come across.
  5. Yes mate know/knew a good few folks who live with horses and wagons, even had a open lot myself for a couple of years as it goes and my dogs were the same, they just knew when to guard and wouldn't let a stranger near my wagon when i wasn't there. .Most site dogs are the same and have allways let folks know when someones about but some are sure better at their jobs than others Being on sites a fair bit sure learnt me a thing or too about dogs, and people for that matter.
  6. The orders a bit weird recall comes first and is the building block for the retrieve, along with the pup knowing its name. Then I use a WATCH command, as if the dog isn't watching YOU it's harder to progress with sit, stay, leave, blind stay, retrieve, wait etc. I suppose we all do it different and expect different things from a dog. There are so many variables also, is the pup food motivated, toy motivated, basically what makes it tick? The real art is assessing the dog and using the appropriate training plan in my opinion, there is no one manual that suits all. I dislike any physical contact
  7. Assuming your dog is of good health, it could well be, but its not usual of short sprints like when you are lamping rabbits. Some dogs that have a grueller in cold weather seem to get a cough, and I have had one years ago that used to whollop down water(even though I would try and stop him) then throw it back up.
  8. Very sad, If like say she had a fit its a tragic accident and no more. It's not unknown for a epileptic fit to trigger reactions like this. I am sure the media will 'spin' the hell out of it. Condolences to the lad you work with, it must be terrible.
  9. This thread is a wind up
  10. It wont be long till he's doing the fosbury flop
  11. I agree mate, just steady away..... Bit of this that mainly collie, grey and dash of whippet.
  12. Took the youngling for a quick educational outing with the longnets and ferrets, no big session just an hour or so to bolt the odd one into a net and introduce him to his future work place. All went well, no overexcited reactions with the rabbits, and he stayed on the warren or at my side while the ferrets were in, so I am happy with that. Had the obvious, pup in longnet, pup tripping over longnet, pup eating longnet which is always expected. I must say I forgot how much I really enjoy training pups. Good Hunting Sirius
  13. A friend of mine has a bulldog and apparently he sends off samples and they tell him the best day day. That's correct, that how I have seen it done, so you get the peak days.
  14. I have seen it done several times with several different breeds. Get some frozen it's not costly and worth doing IMO. The trickiest part is getting the bitch on the right day.
  15. Thank you for the input people. The classic 'fur in the throat' never helps the cough, usually it gets hacked up like a mucus furball .
  16. Interesting stuff, and I agree fitness must play a part as the dog when it has happened has not been at the peak of fittness but in no way unfit. It does always seem to be more likely with the onset of the colder weather. Regards Sirius
  17. I have had the lower canine removed on a dog after it was split longways. Nasty operation as it can effect the Jaw bone. After surgery and once its all healed no problem at all.
  18. I have had a couple of dogs who have suffered with a 'dry hack' after hard runs, this develops once the dog is rested post run. The dogs are in good fit condition with a good bill of health, no kennel cough, lung worm, heart worm etc. This usually passes after 24 hours. Does anyone have any tips of things that they have used that may help relieve the symptom of a 'Dry Cough'? I have been using Honey and found it gives some relief as well as being useful after a hard run. I would like to here of what others use? Regards Sirius
  19. She's a really nice looking bitch you got there lofti.
  20. If you use those cigarette (cigar)connections a lot they fail or at best give dodgy unreliable connections. If you do a lot of lamping you will find this out in time.
  21. What kind is it mate?No idea, it came from a mate who works on the water. They call it a tea spoon.
  22. Best spade I have owned, had it over 10 seasons Folders or these little things don't hold a candle to this sort of spade.
  23. Sadly these lamps are not made for what WE want. The connection(cigar) are crap. I chop these off and wire straight to battery. Just use spades to connect the wires and then use sleeving or gaffer tape. I have found this to be the best way. The connection that goes into the battery could be better IMO as overtime the lead twists up and the housing becomes wobbly. I had a moan to Deben about this and got sent a few spare wires which rather than come out vertical from the battery come out at a right angle which maybe better. Really the battery would be far more robust with a decent connected
