  1. Was a good night here but I didn't go. I too don't get going in heavy rain, the rabbits are never out! Light showers maybe.

    Few Pics

Some tidy snaps mate, smart pack, youngsters really filled out now very nice.
  3. No not related hot meat, both bitzy mongrels to be honest :-)
  4. Just the right weather for a walkout in good company. After netting a good few, we let the dogs have a run...can't beat bolting for the dogs. Ended the morning on 19. good hunting Sirius
  5. I have a single one of those made by Mr Jackson, no spring just a pin inside a brass barrell, more reliable than the springs IMO.Nice bit of kit, used to use it a lot when we were coursing before the ban. For lamping I use a gun dog rope lead, that way you can run them without a collar. ?? look further up the picture did not post with the quote A dog lead, err ok, same as I mentioned.

  8. Start doing retrieve in a ally or smaller area! Keep it fun and don't over do it!
  9. Tidy looking pup , nice width of chest! Out of interest how big is she roughly?
  10. Maybe there's a element of making this easier for the owner. If truth be told how many take a pup lamping as they don't want it sat yapping in the house or kennel when they go out with the other dogs? I can't see any other benefit taking a dog from 8 weeks and I am all for early socialisation. Train them first, let them grow and enter when ready, each ones different! I don't see the rush, not worth the risk IMO.
  11. That bitch is a robust thing, lovely! You can sure see the collie, look at that gurt big bushy tail! Good luck with her!
  12. It's more than likely a upper respiratory infection as dogs don't catch colds the same as humans. Usually a course of Antibiotics are used for upper respiratory infections, best to see what you vet says if in doubt.
  13. http://www.andersonmoores.com/services/orthopaedics/cruciate_disease_tplo/?gclid=CPKf08n_u7sCFTHLtAodikoAzw I used this place once to sort out a 'local vets' poor surgery for a toe amputation, luckily the dog was insured, but the team and kit they have is superb.
  14. It wont be the first time Seriously I have recently had a pup who has been brought in a kennel since 18 weeks old, and within two weeks he's near enough 100% house trained, I didn't have to slap, kick or 'tap' the dog to do this. Just praise and timing, a few times I forgot to take him out side, he peed in the house it was my fault.
  15. Its a nice knife without doubt, but that shape of blade is better as a small skinner than to paunch rabbits.
  16. This is basic stuff! Seriously, do people really hit a puppy for peeing in the house still ?? Next they will saying to rub the pups nose in it!!
  17. I can't say I would want to drag a just jabbed puppy out lamping sounds a pain on the arse. I don't believe it benefits a pup much, if at all. Not ideal for a young developing pup physically either. Yeah maybe tagging along for a quick 15 minutes look see around 6 months, but even then they just get frustrated watching other dogs run. I want mine to work free of a slip and be steady not be a whining pulling steam train. I do some training at night, with the pup solo as for gates cars ditches etc they learn that daytime. But hey call me old fashioned lol each to there own.
  18. The operation has a really good success rate for most dogs with the correct care after the surgery. For a terrier I don't see a problem, it maybe different on a hard worked runner. I would always opt for a referral to a specialist vet (especially if the dogs insured), unless your vet has alot of orthopaedic experience. I have used specalist vets in the past and it can make a huge difference rather than your average local vet (but costly)
  19. Most chickens are so young when there killed its no big problem at all, its like Giro says bigger older beasties that usually cause problems.
  20. It's not all about percentage of catch rate? So many other variables. Every fecker wants a dog that catches everything in front of it, goes without saying. Bit more to it than that.
  21. Plenty of lads look at buying a dog as they would a car, but sadly when they get it they can't read the Haynes manual. Lol Nothing to do with the so called 'standards' they have read on the internet they just don't know the basics to even be able to try for that standard. So they end up with a succession of poor dogs which get sold on, one owner from new, spares or repair lol
  22. Lads chop and change dogs all the fecking time, from observation it's usually young lads who don't really know what they want from a dog in the first place and maybe don't have much experience either. It doesn't help IMO when they hear lads saying 'high standards' 'not making the grade' 'jacker' etc, as these lads often don't know what the grade is as they have little experience to work on it so sadly get shot of the dog or even sell it!! This stuff really influences the new comers to our sport. The other discussion is nature or nurture and it's a bit of both and a fair bit of luck. But w
