Jess is an 8 month old Grey/Deer X Whip, both parents work so I thought she might be a bit more savvy. I couldnt bare the thought of her getting seriously injured as me and the family have completely bonded with her.

Hi Guys I thought I would share a thing or two that have happened to me recently. While out walking in the woods my springer and lurcher were both running free, I had lost sight of the lurcher and was looking forward towards my springer when I felt a massive bang on the back of my right leg and the last thing I remeber was floating through the air looking up at the trees. I came round almost immediately, I think, but I was lying face down covered in mud and god knows what with the lurcher doing circuits around me. I wasnt sure if she had collided with me until a few days ago she ran in to the

I cant really add anything that hasnt already been said but I have recieved several pieces of advice from Penny after posting a few questions. I have had my 1st lurcher now 6 months and found it a little trying at times to say the least, the advice given has been straight forward and easy to implement, gleaned from years of practical experience. Thanks very much Penny.

Hi Guys, I have asked for so much advice I feel guilty asking for some more! Hope you lot dont mind? My 5-1/2 month Grey/Deer X Whip has had a change in her behaviour patterns in the last week or so, I was going to ask a few days ago and then we had the wasp incident and I wanted to see how she behaved after, she reverted back and is still acting the same. I think something has changed in her attitude but I am not sure what, She has started taking a real interest in balls and toys and is retrieving them with or without much prompting as well as tossing them around and giving chase, something

ok, so I have given her some piriton liquid, a lot of attention and she seems more settled now. She does have a fairly big swelling under her front left armpit which seems to have stopped now. I think she is just playing on it for a bit of fuss, yes, she is that sneaky! Thanks for the advice and comments, much appreciated.

I just went out for a mooch with the Springer and Lurcher pup and the pup followed my springer in to cover. The spaniel comes out no problem but the lurcher has come out squealing like a stuffed pig, I have run to her and realised she was covered in drowsy wasps!!! I managed to brush them off, at least seven or eight that I could see all over her apart from the neck and head. I took em straight home and the lurcher is pretty subdued and keeps yelping randomly. I have brushed her down and given her a thorough inspection and cant find anymore stings, though she seems to be concentrating on her f

The amount of knowledge on this forum never ceases to amaze me, once again thanks very much for your replies. I can see that it is all part of the growing process and I need not worry and just enjoy spending time with her. Bogger, even if she turns out useless I couldnt part with her for no amount of money, she is a right character........................whats that, £500, SOLD all the best Pat

She is definately used to Fur in her mouth and all the smells that go with it as I feed her a raw diet with the meat side made up mostly of rabbit. she is not nervous around people or other dogs at all, thats why I thought it was strange that she legs it from birds and cats. Pat

Thanks again, some really constructive and sensible advice and experiences, just what I need to hear. I was told to start her off around end of November/December time on the lamp when she will be 8-9 months, does this sound about right? as if not I am in no hurry and would rather take my time and give her the chance to develop properly. Pat

Yes mate, had dogs all of life but only recently discovered lurchers, will only ever keep these from now on. Thanks for all your replies lads, thought it was probably nothing to worry about. I will try and find a way to build her confidence, any ideas? Pat

Hi Guys, My GH/DH X Whip is now coming up for 20 weeks old and is coming on well with her training but I am worried about her lack of prey drive. I took her for a mooch a couple of days ago and she flushed a pigeon from the undergrowth, she put her tail between her legs and ran back to me at speed and hid behind my legs! Then this morning out in the middle if nowhere a cat ( no idea where it came from) was sitting out in front at around 50 yards away, she pricked her ears half sat down and then barked at it. When the cat turned tail she did start to chase but stopped when she got to where he h

Lovely kit, I shall order mine from him as soon as my pup stops growing. I think both dogs look great. -
She is beauty mate, a real credit to you. Keep us updated on her progress. ATB Pat

Thanks she is definately a live wire. Any idea what sort of size she will finish up at? and will she always be slinky or will she fill out and when? Thanks Pat
-
Thanks, yeah her feet seem to be able to handle all terrain no problem.

I have added pictures to my gallery of my deerhound/greyXwhip at 16 weeks. I put her on BARF about a month ago and she seems to have blossomed on it, everyone keeps stoppimg me and asking about her and especially her coat. She is just under 18tts although I havent got a clue where she will stop, any idea let me know. I have noticed she is starting to over power and out sprint my springer but she is still fairly clingy when she is out for a mooch and likes to stay near me. I have finally got her to sit and lie on command, the recall is fairly good aswell. I just need to stop her nicking the kid
