  1. OK mate Im convinced, Deer/Grey X's only. Love em all, especially the Platts dog, right up my street. Pat
  2. That is a great looking dog mate, that could tempt me away from the black stuff. Pat
  3. Hi Matt, she is currently 22". I think she has pretty much reached her height, not sure if she will bulk out much more either. The only thing still growing is her coat! Northern Lad, thanks for the positive comments. Pat
  4. Well Pat, thats something you can't train them to do, they've either got bottle or haven't. I wish you all the best with your cracking bitch, please keep us updated with her progress. Yours in Sport Geoff Thanks Geoff, I will keep my fingers crossed. She seems to have suddenly found her bottle. I will keep you posted on her progress. Gafer, I cant see me coming away from a deerX now to be honest, they just seem to suit me if that makes any sense! Saying that, bullx's seem to be more useful a lot quicker, could it just be that there are loads around? Pat Pat
  5. I was told that when Deer x's mature they are evry bit as willing and able as a bull X but its good to have it confirmed from someone with some first hand knowledge. I definately think Daves dogs are pleasing to the eye as well. I often wonder if the bulls are just flavour of the month.
  6. Fair enough mate, I have a bushing springer who thinks she is a whirrer! I want to get my own crew together as I mentioned, a couple of well bred patts and a bigger running dog. Everything was heading in the right direction until the wife and I discovered we were having another child! That was a shock I can tell you. Things will have to be put on hold for a little while.LOL
  7. Why not get a pup now Gafer, is the 3 leg getting on a bit? and what mix% is she? Pat
  8. Thats a great story sowhat, I hope my girl will tackle teeth in due course as her dam does. At some point I will get another dog and one of Daves big crosses would be ideal, either that or a nice bull cross from solid lines Pat
  9. Thanks mate, I hope so. She comes from the right stuff, if she doesnt it will probably be down to me and my skills.LOL. Pat
  10. lovely dogs, great scenery. Mate, you must be in heaven Pat
  11. I know mate, but if anyone knows of somebody outcrossing to a whippet he will I would have thought. You are right about her speed though mate, she is very fast. I am constantly worried she will end up hitting a trunk, she has had a few close calls already. Pat
  12. Thanks mate, that would be appreciated. If I dont keep it tucked in she will find a way to destroy it! Pat
  13. The Dam was a Dave Platts cross mated to a working whip privately down in deepest, darkest Kent. I am not sure if he breeds anything like this himself although I think he is close with Dave Sleight who breeds top quality whips, so may definately be worth a phone call. Pat
  14. forgot to mention the Strongstuff kit, cheers for the collars and leads Aaron. They are great, proper craftsmanship and a pleasure to deal with. ATB Pat
  15. She should be in great nick, she has a good varied diet with plenty of BARF. I run a lot and take her on and off road at least 30km's a week, she is always ready to go again, never tired out!
  16. I thought I would finally add some more pics of Jess now she is a little more mature-ish. She is coming up for 9 months and as from my recent post it has been tough, she really seems to have turned the corner and is responding to all the work put in. Her Dam is a Dave Platts bitch and Sire is a working whip, she is finally showing some prey drive and has started to take an interest in the local wildlife. She is also slowly changing from a smooth black to wiry greyish in parts. http://s821.photobucket.com/albums/zz132/redpat1/ Let me know your thoughts Thanks Pat
  17. looks a cracker mate, whats the breeding?
  18. Thanks for all the comments, really appreciated. She has now shamed herself this morning and eaten my daughters Library book. ATB Pat
  19. Cheers KL, doesnt feel like a success story just yet. Still a fair way to go but like I said, feeling like I am getting a bit back now. I think guys dont realise the work, patience and time etc needed in trying to bring on a young lurcher, especially when it is their 1st one. All the best Pat
  20. Thanks fellas, yeah I know his details are in EDRD, I just wanted to get a feel for the club and to at least know a few names before I go along. I am still new to all this and they might think I am a bit of a numpty, I am learning as I go. Pat
  21. I am looking to go along to the Kent WTC and get to know a few of the guys. Are there any members on the forum as it would be nice to not feel like its the 1st day of school when I come along. I know where they meet due to EDRD, do they get a good turn out? are there many knowledgeable people in this area? as there dont seem to be that many down this way. I only say that as all the books I have read are normally based in Wales, Scotland and the North. Any help and advice would be appreciated. Pat
  22. Defo more of a whip in size and build, her coat is becoming more wirey and Grey by the day in certain areas though. She was black and smooth with a white blaze as a small pup, not sure how much more she will change. She destroyed everything from furniture to clothing then moved on to kids toys, books and electrical goods. Then she just stopped although she continues to wreck the garden, lawn is a mud pit and I am constantly getting an earful when she rips up the plants.
  23. Hi Matt, I will put some pics on next week when I recieve her Strongstuff Collar. When ever we are mooching people stop me and offer to take her off my hands and ask all about her, if they new the stuff she has destroyed they would run a mile.
  24. Thanks Rocky, I couldnt see the light at the end of the tunnel for a while. I think that I have learnt a lot from having a b*****d pup this time around. Right, now to find a couple of well bred Patterdales and a Bull X LOL
