  1. Thanks for all the help and suggestions so far, much appreciated. I think the best thing at the moment is to just take my time and see what comes along. Best not to rush in to anything.
  2. I know mate, I meant a couple for just digging to and one specifcaly for bushing
  3. Already have a working springer who will jump in to anything, just want some terriers for earth work and possibly another to pair up with the spaniel
  4. Mate, already have a DH/GH x Whip, looking for a terriers to dig to that will live side by side with a lurcher a lot of the time sorry mate must of read it wrong No worries mate, thanks for taking the time to reply Pat
  5. what other options are there realisticly apart from Patts and JRT's as it appears all the others like lakelands, borders and the like are no longer a decent working prospect due to diluted bloodlines
  6. What about Borders, are they now extinct as a working breed?
  7. Mate, already have a DH/GH x Whip, looking for a terriers to dig to that will live side by side with a lurcher a lot of the time
  8. A couple for digging to and one for above ground for the days out walking
  9. I am sure there is the risk of jacking no matter what type or breeding but if it comes in to it at all I have to admit that I like the look of the black'uns most of all, but I have heard that they are the hardest to come by for true working specimens.
  10. Thats funny Gafer as I am defo an 80's child and I have DH X's. What was the fashionable terrier in the 80's? LOL
  11. Thanks again FTB, very constructive as usual. I am constantly told black dogs are the way forward but a decent working dog is like rockin orse shite apparently!
  12. Cheers L D's, there just seems to be a lot of shite out there with a lot of dodgy fellas only in it for the money£££. I really cant afford to get my pants pulled down and spanked by some dealer who knows all the spiel, like I said this is all fairly new to me.
  13. I have read DH's books and read EDRD regulary and patts seem to have the best rep these days, but is that like bull X's and them just being the flavour of the month?
  14. Yeah sorry ideation, I didnt want to be to graphic as I am never to sure if digging offends some people in the lurcher section. I wouldnt mind a few terriers for digging along with one that will mostly work above ground for long walks out
  15. Thanks gafer, I really fancy a patterdale but I cant afford to waste my money on shite and I am worried I will end up with a lemon! I know there is always that chance anyway but I want to try and stack the odds in my favour
  16. Thanks FTB, you truly are a ray of sunshine.LOL. The sad thing is you are probably right.
  17. I should have said that they will mostly be digging dogs, great suggestions so far
  18. Thanks FTB, Yeah I should said they will mostly be for digging
  19. I think you are right Ideation but I want terriers that will do ALL terrier work and I have been told so many different things, one of them being that there are hardly any decent working bred JRTs left. Dont shoot me down as I am not sure how true any of it is, which is why I am so confused about it all.
  20. Also posted in the Earthdog section, be interesting see how the advice compares.
  21. After only discovering lurcher and terrier work about a year or so ago I decided to give it a go myself, I have now been totally caught up in it all and have made adjustments with family and work to dedicate as much time as possible to learning the craft, not that I think I will ever stop learning! I am now seriously thinking about getting my own terriers and building them kennels to live in, I have almost talked the wife around!LOL I have read all the terrier, lurcher and hunting books I can lay my hands on but I cant seem to find out if there are any particular terrier breeds that work best

  23. Thanks everyone, I hope she matures sooner rather than later. Not wishing her life away I just dont want her (or me) to get seriously injured. I might invent some kind of lurcher crash helmet, What do you reckon!
  24. Gutted for you mate, RIP Grunt Oznblue = top bloke, restores a bit of my faith in people Pat
  25. Sighthounds have got a wider field of view than other dog breeds due to the positioning of their eyes. It also means they tend to have a blind spot right in the middle. I have heard that said Malt but her vision is perfect when the kids drop a piece of food, she is greased lightening. LOL
