  5. Nice dogs mate. Slightly off topic but bloody lovely merle dog that mate
  6. It was the same for me a couple of years ago. I went away and had a think of country roads and places that are out of the way - that no one else had thought of asking. I found that farms that are close to towns or main roads had nothing much on them which is probably because everyone else has thought the same as you. I went for a drive down loads of country lanes just to see where it brought me out and stopped at farms along the way. Now, some of my permission holds good numbers compared to the amount of rabbits around here (apart from this year due to the low numbers in general). I'm
  7. what size did those pups make marty? The tallest outthe litter was 29tts. A fawn dog. Bitches are around 26 mark. Rest varied between those sizes. Cheers lads Love the look of that pup mate Sam
  8. Have a look on our website mate. If you can't find the info you need then give us a ring. We do Borax, Alum etc. etc. if you don't want to spend that much but these tanning kits are the easiest way to go. http://sportingcutlery.co.uk/tanning-kits/one-bath-tanning-systems/cp0502.html If you need anything else then pm me Sam
  9. Hi Ian, If you haven't found anyone you could try Bob Reid - Snowdonia Taxidermy Studios http://www.yell.com/b/Snowdonia+Taxidermy+Studios-Taxidermists-llanrwst-LL260HU-5786137/ . He is very good. He doesn't do that many private jobs any more but give him a call - let him know that I gave you his details. As it happens, he's my Granddad ATB Sam
  10. None of the above will cure a rabbit skin mate. Drying out will literally....well....dry it. Salting just helps to dry the skin out too. Either method will only last a few weeks. Have a look at these tanning kits if you're looking to do a few http://sportingcutlery.co.uk/tanning-kits/one-bath-tanning-systems/cp0502.html . We make them ourselves and they're really easy to use. If you only want to do one then give us a ring on the telephone number thats on the website. The company was started nearly 50 years ago by a taxidermist so what someone at our place can't tell you ain't w
  11. I was just reading the ad as I clicked on this thread. I thought the same. Don't know the guy or his dogs but all the advert talks about is what shows the sires and dams have won in too If it said, "outstanding worker, X amount of seasons under his belt with proof. trial welcome etc. etc." then fair enough in my book but £500 stud fee and the caption underneath says that the dog was 2009 British supreme Lurcher champion of champions at Peterborough..... Good money if you can get it
  12. I had a 54 plate D22. Never let me down. Me and the missus loved it. Only got rid because she got a job an hour away and we needed something more economical. We will definitely have another one when she manages to find a job closer. Tom Terrier, I've not even been in the newer model but I thought the D22 was a solid machine. Good enough for a days hunting and then take the missus out in the evenin. By the way, The lad I sold mine to didn't want the roll bars so if anyone wants a set of silver roll bars for a D22 crew cab PM me and you can have them for free. Bolts and all. I'm in N
  13. Hi Bobby, pm sent mate. You're a good man
  14. This guy is a good man http://www.gamekeep.co.uk/category.asp?categoryid=1 I've spoken to him at many game fairs and he's a good guy. Never bought from his website but I've bought from him at shows. My first rat trap was from him. Had countless numbers of rats and squirrells in it over the past 9 or so years and it's still as good as new
  15. ask on the hunting with hounds section mate. Maybe someone can help you out there Sam
  16. Just thought I'd add something a bit different. I know theres not much to do with lurchers directly but credit where it's due, she has some stunning pics on here and reasonably priced too http://sarahfarnsworth.zenfolio.com/p686557985/h556e332e#h556e332e Enjoy
  17. Like it! I might try that and see if I get a better rate
  18. Good to hear a bit of first hand experience rather than people going by what they've heard. I do like the sound and look of deerhound crosses. Really like the look of yours lapin
  19. Oh. I didn't know that the older ones measure the depth better I'd have thought they'd have improved things with newer models not gone backwards
  20. Mines the same mate. I've worked out that it reads wrong wher I'm using it around dense ground but I don't think it's a problem as long as it tells me to dig in the right place Also, keep in mind that the Deben locator is the cheaper alternative to the Bellman one
  21. Very nice! Sounds like a good type! How long does this type take to mature compared to most other types? I've heard that deerhound crosses take longer to mature but is there a noticeable difference if there is 1/4 deerhound or less? ATB Sam
  22. Nothing against whippets mate but I have a 3 year old whippet and a 14 month old beddy whippet x whippet greyhound. The difference in speed is unreal mate. Very, very handy for bigger fields and he can also do the smaller fields like the whippet can. I do love the fun that the whippet gives though ATB with your choice mate Sam
