  1. I think that's the case, you have to keep your cool, my bitch went through the same (her recall is usually spot on), i worked out if i stay still where I was or whistled (got her attention) and walked the other way however she were never gone that long just 10 mins, she did once or twice when lamping last season, she'd hop the fence and then take off to what i thought she was doing laps of the field , one time my mate caught sight of a rabbit in the distance when she took off so I assume she has and didn't want to wait for the lamp, she has calmed down a lot over this year and will be 2 in S
  2. Seems like its a common thing to do they call it reinforcing sets, surely this is still illegal as its still interfering? Check below link and scroll down. http://wildpro.twycrosszoo.org/S/00Ref/bookscontents/rspca-problems_with_badgers/4_ProtectingAndWatching.htm
  3. It is a truism that almost any sect, cult or religion will legislate its creed if it acquires the political power to do so. after a victory, sharpen your knife. You cant fix stupid.
  4. Last three posts say it all, I'm too young to know what the CA did back then, but I'm now old enough to bother about the politics and my freedom to hunt legally, I dont follow hounds, but I've been into field sports forever and when its under attack and the organization that's to defend us presently seems to shun my particular sports while seemingly protecting mounted hunts and then ask me for money to do so, I wont do it, I've sent my emails to my MP and CA but what else can one man do? I would happily pay a £10 a month to CA for some lurcher and terrier campaigns but they don't its just houn
  5. +1....Nail meet head ! I looked at the NWTF its something id like to get into but couldnt get in touch with anyone from the lancs area, if anyone can PM me a contact number for my area it would be appreciated.
  6. Few better pics here Ant, let me know if he wants me to come up Friday night/Saturday morning.
  7. The thing that pisses me off is IF the LACS have 5000 members that pay £2 a month and the CA have 100,000 members that pay £4 a month how do the the antis shout louder than the CA and what the F*** happens to all that cash? We could just do what they did pay a million to the conservatives instead of Labour to use the parliment act, because its certainly not being put into campaigning for the hunters that don't ride horses, my numbers may not be bang on and i don't know whats going on behind the scenes, this is just a laymans point of view which is why i wont pay them for the right to an opin
  8. Thats my question will it be suitable for the dogs? As ive never used one for the dogs, i looked at the nightmaster looks very good, but the thing that stopped me was i couldn't find a red filter Im going to try the Orlight, probably place the order tomorrow, i'll post back on here when ive tried it let you all know how it is.
  9. What would you do if you didn't have access to quarry? Jump the fence mate use a long line if your unsure just don't do it at lambing time, public footpaths' are useful tools as well
  10. I seen some like that but dont like the idea of swithcing the LED but this one you can get a filter http://www.taclight.co.uk/collections/accessories/products/olight-m3x-sr51-colour-filter#.VdSkrflVhBc
  11. Spot on rabbit hunter, like I've said before, CA will not get a penny out of me until I see some lurcher & terrier based campaigns, i don't trust them the slightest now
  12. I think i'm going to try the Olight M3X Triton, with the RED filter and Lit-Ion batteries (+ a Spare set) with extended handle for the batteries, total would be about £140 but if it works and lasts it will be well worth it. Thanks for the input chaps. http://www.taclight.co.uk/products/olight-m3x-triton-tactical-flashlight-t6#.VdSfYvlVhBc
  13. This happened to me, but the pup should not get the treat until the object is delivered to hand, that's what the pup needs to learn, it must drop it in your hand to receive a reward. So when it drops it on the floor just ignore it or gentle encouragement to pick it up and bring it, It will take patients mate but should come good,, funny thing is when we started hunting and she caught a rabbit she wouldn't let go of it until she new i had a firm grasp, she'd bring it to hand and i had to tell her to leave, good luck im sure it will work out. Micky
  14. Way before my time mate haha, I'm trying to get rid of the separate battery altogether, I bet it made for some interesting nights though

  17. Is that the £45 one? I looked at that, not bad price if works, has anyone on here tried one? I was looking at £150 budget for a good lamp, the night master ones look good but I'm not sure about them being right for the dogs, I want to get away from the wires and separate batteries.
  18. Do you use one of these Moggy, what's the battery life like on them?
  19. Never used one but I've read that the free running ones are better as the dog creates its own work rate, be interested to know views from people who have used both
  20. Yeh been looking at them not a bad price either, I'm interested in the gun lamp types so you can just drop it in your pocket whether its suitable or not I dont know. £120+ is a lot to blow if there not lol ive got one of the cree LED torches I use on the rifle mate, you can have a play with that when you come up and see what you think?Cheers Ant, I'll be up at the end of this month for the big BBQ bring it and I'll take a look. I've rewired that halogen but you can bet it will fall apart in the field again if I use it a lot ? Ps. Remind me nearer the time I'll bring that harcomb book for you
  21. That's the kind of thing I'm looking for, like with fishing when I was a kid I'd take as much gear as possible but now I just take what I can get away with. what model are you using, how do you find it in the field ?

  24. Its time to invest in a new lamp for the coming season, I want to go down the LED route and keep my halogen as a back up, has any one tried these new gun lamps that are coming out? are they suitable for running the dog? Who's using what and how do you find it to use, I've been thinking of spending a good few quid on one to keep for a while but is it necessary?
  25. My two, lurcher coming up two in Sept, and the terrier is 5/6month he'll be doing a bit of ratting/bushing, I can see me doing a lot of lamping with the lurcher this season though. ATB for the coming season chaps Micky
