  1. Done...its a sad state of affairs when people are scrambling for signatures just to keep something that happens every year going, good luck and I hope its still on come Christmas
  2. If I don't have my brew and a smoke and that chill out moment after I'm in and catch sorted, doesn't matter how long I've been out I just cant sleep!
  3. it has always been a legal requirement for greyhounds to wear a muzzle in public places Is it? All the UK or just Ireland? Never new that one, thank P. just Ireland i believe, i also seam to remember the number one person can walk at the same time is 2 or it might be 3 Its two max. In public area that's not a track or similar place, just had brief read on it
  4. Do you really believe that? Or are you just using your own form of sensationalism? Yes lurchers do get bad press but trying to compare them to pit bulls and becoming a banned breed is a little OTT imo. Bulldogs becoming a banned breed is ridiculous, your telling me we don't have ridiculous laws and potentially more ridiculous laws to come? That's how the breed ban started because of articles like that.
  5. Complete bell end letting the dogs off near houses no need for it get out the way or keep them on.. The guy probably is a belend but articles like these tar us all.

  8. The fact is chaps, lurchers are fast becoming the next pitbull, just type hunting dog in a search engine, 'pet killers' with 'what if it were a child' quoted every time, there has never been a greater need for this organization to help put a stop to this scare mongering and sensationalized stories by shit journalists and anti scum, everybody on the forum should be backing this regardless of what you think of the people steering it, I read one thin in an newspaper article that its a legal requirement that greyhounds should be on a lead and muzzled in public places
  9. Yes, just avoid cooked bones mate they dry and can splinter
  10. The dog needs to be as keen as me, I'm quite opportunistic so the dog has to be as well but with the brains to know what's NOT on the menu even if I'm not in sight to confirm, I'm not bothered about catching loads of game as there's not loads to catch as long as she gives it a run for its money its a day/night well spent, but saying that I might have very low standards and my dog incredibly crap haha
  11. Thanks for the update TF, sounds like its really getting going now
  12. That's a cracking looking animal, how old is it Marshman?
  13. When ever you have put that pic she always stands out to me, looks like useful animal ATB with her during this season mate
  14. its certainly cooling down at night now and with the apparent el nino on its way we may be in for a cold and dry winter maybe our quarry knows more than us! I have struggled to come to terms with much game so far this season and i don't think its a lack of numbers they just don't seem to move far from cover at all locally regardless of what time im out. ATB Mick
  15. My 'petty' criticism was just that, in many cases more than one running dog is used on a quarry, without it being terrible and immoral, and would I find myself contravening the 'COC' by going bushing with my little pack? I called it 'petty' because its not a major point, but one I wished to question, as it is through questions that we come up with good answers. I agree that the 'committee' needs to be squeaky clean, but I just question whether it may ultimately lead to a greater division amongst lurcher folk. Because I am certainly no moronic idiot out to 'smash' everything and 'fun da ban
  16. I wasn't calling you sad directly, like you said in an earlier post that your issue with the code was petty, I was pointing out that the negativity directed at these guys who are doing something good for lurcher work, and its not just on this thread, my point was if a member was to get caught in the wrong (illegally) they shouldn't drag the club into it, the committee should be squeaky clean imo wells as clean as possible. I made my position clear at the beginning of this to the people involved im happy to help in any way I can, if lurcherwork is to have a legitimate future in this country
  17. Well said and very good analogy using the Highway Code. Most of us get our toe down late at night if the roads are quiet. But you don't say "I'm not doing my driving test, I want to do 40mph in a 30 zone". Lol. As said it's a guide. And we all must stay within the law. As we do when driving at all times I think that's the way to go about it Gaz, it just requires a bit of common sense which unfortunately its not all that common. You mean like the time when I posted pics of "shot and retrieved hares" in the lurcher section. Which my lurcher legally flushed and retrieved. And I got

  19. I hope the people moving this forward are ignoring the negativity from the people who are doing nowt and continue to push this forward we will see once it starts to build membership who actually gives a shit and who doesn't. Taking digs at the ideas and people moving this forward is sad considering that their the ones using their own time to help hunting with dogs for all of us.
  20. Most people who get caught poaching or hunting 'other' quarry do so because of there own stupid actions, however it can and does happen to the best of us to some degree or another, and if the police/media are involved then any member of this group worth their salt would NOT draw any attention to their membership, you hold your hands up and accept the consequences, running to a club for help after you have f**cked up is not the way to go, you would just be drawing unnecessary negative attention to it. I totally agree that an official association cannot be seen to condone law breaking of any
  21. Good to see you post again IWW, atb and keep them coming
  22. Running dog maintenance is a good one, always good to look back through as well pal ATB Mick
  23. Not been out for nearly a week, clear skies at night here for the past week, quite warm too! Dew was frozen on the field this morning so it might be getting colder, hope for a bit of rain this weekend and i'll get back to it or the dogs going to put up an ad on here for a new owner if i don't get my act together
  24. Seems the same as last year locally there's a few about enough to get a few runs a night, but to catch more than 4/5 I got to travel, bitch is always ready to run whether there's two or twenty, no glass cuts this year touch wood
