Op Fg - Finished! (Finally)
thursodog replied to AR177's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
What a brilliant job mate, that looks stunning, thought i was looking at a new gun. Atb Chris. -
Hi folks. I'm looking to swap the above mentioned gun for either a .177 Ultra multi shot or AA S200 .177 multi shot. My Scorpion is in .22 and in as good as new condition. Shoots deadly accurate and has a Parkerhale steel moderator which renders it very quiet. Pics to follow soon. FTF unless i already know you or a mod or anyone i know can vouch for you. Atb Chris.

Over The Moon With My New .177 97Kt.
thursodog replied to thursodog's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
Cheers lads. Villaman, its nothing too difficult mate you just strip everything down including the trigger and polish everything to a mirror finish, the piston liner is measured and cut with tin snips and given a polish too. I just chuck the piston and compression tube onto the lathe and polish up with very fine emery paper then wire wool. I use a bit of garden bamboo with a lump of steel wool taped to the end of it to polish up the internal surfaces as they are spun on the lathe, saves a lot of elbow grease and achieves a really good mirror finish. The barrel looked clean when you looked -

Any battery jobs left? -
Got my new 97kt through the post and stripped it within the hour, i half cocked it and it sounded like sh!t, rather rough and not smooth as my .22 97k. I ordered a service kit from SFS and proceeded to polish all parts of the gun whilst waiting for my kit to arrive. I found alot of rough edges. 3 nights of hard work and got everything gleaming like a new penny. The last job before assembly was to strip the trigger and polish all the faces with a very fine hone till they shined with a mirror finish. I then made a piston sleeve from a piece of nice shiny stainless sheet robbed from a travel

I was pretty done in when i posted my light hearted reply. It really does come down to common sense though, Away out now with my knewly tuned 97kt (SFS kit and a couple of bits of my own inside it, SWEET!!) and i'll be shooting into the trees and rafters of barns tonight minding that if i miss there's no danger to anything other than my prey. Safe happy hunting folks. Chris.

My head hurts after reading this thread, i need to lie down. If i was standing on top of a set of steps instead of the ground when i fire at angle of 63 degrees with my .177 doing 720 feet per second would i be better buying a euro lottery ticket or spending the money on a bigger set of steps to increase my shooting range or velocity

Konceptus Tuning Kit?
thursodog replied to BenjaminCadd's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
Aww shucks thats very kind of you mate. Away to pick up SFS service kit from the po this morning ;-) Many thanks pal Chris. -
Glad everyones ok and al bet he never does that again I've a nice little .22 hole in my garage roof from when i was adjusting my trigger on a 97 3 years ago. I had it set so light that when i lifted the gun into the vertical postion for a moment it went off without touching the trigger. No more trigger adjusting in the garage. Atb Chris.

No worries.it really is a piece of cake. Tuning it though is more involved and can be a disaster. Davies vid is all you need to diy it. Good luck.

If you are near Aberdeen soon I could do it for nothing mate. Let me know. Would have done within an hour while you wait.

Konceptus Tuning Kit?
thursodog replied to BenjaminCadd's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
Had a look at the 97 kit and agree it looks like sh*t. The top hat and piston guide look like they'd rattle about inside the spring and the liner looks like brass which will wear out quickly and contaminate the inner workings of your gun. I know this as i've fitted one previously and it nearly ended in tears. I like the idea of inserts for the mod but they look poor too, I'll be making a couple when i get time. I'm after a tuning kit and owing to the fact that Simon has just had a kit from Tony Wall fitted by Andy and the feedback is very positive I'll give you one guess who i'm phoning i -
Nice one mate. Plenty of .22lr BRNOs kicking about for the price of a dozen tins of pellets that would apreciate your restoration expertise. Atb C

Cracking scopes at a great price, i've a 3x12-50 on my 97K and can't fault them, i'm looking for another one at the mo. Atb C

Buy a rim fire for the fac then buy a sub 12 silky smooth springer that will make you love it. I've got the lot from deer guns to hmr and lr and they are all piss boring compared to my springers which are all brilliant in their own ways. The other guns are tools and although i love hunting with them nowt beats setting up my targets and getting into the springer zone. Here's a new saying, if everyone owned and shot a springer regularly there would be no shrinks in the world. Jus saying like.

Seriously though the laws too soft on these human vermin and i agree its just plain sad that its happening. I've been doing a bit of buying from here and apart from one hickup i've been happy so far and asked twenty questions before buying. The one that seems to work apart from asking if they have a mod that can vouch for them is asking the seller if they have an ebay account and if positive go in and have a look at there feedback etc. Just did this with a lad selling a 97k and even though i aint got it yet i know that its going to land here around Tuesday the latest.

Perhaps he's just a retard with an evil streak which would validate the case that we could email Charles Bronson (The Actor) and tell him of the immoral goings on. Al bet he'd have a cracking one liner before sending him to his original state before natures laws glued a baffoon out of the spare star dust that was handy at the time, i've had a shandy. Can't find a burp smily

Love tuning the 97k mate How do Darryl? Sorry for the jump on to the thread but just a quick question. I've got a brand new 97KT coming next week and i'm going to order Tony Walls tuning kit for it but was just wondering what other tweaks lend themselves to an enhanced performance of the 97. I'm not going down the road of shortening the compression tube and fitting a delrin ring to the piston (wish i had the lathe to do this) I know you polish up he intenals to but was wondering if you have any other tips mate. Cheers Chris.

I have a brand spanking kt with a simmons wtc heading to me next week and bought Some jsbs .177 to try. Its getting a SFS tuning kit and a button or 2 fitted. Can't bloody wait.

Aa Fields And Jsb Exact, Same Thing??
thursodog replied to lewis collins's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
Just bought some jsb exact for the first time. I hope they perform as well as they look. -
Lol, yer spot on mate they are alot stronger and athletic than Salmon i reckon. My fave fishing, a 10 foot 8 weight rod with a slow sink line and a Falkus sunk lure, hair raising stuff, i've had 2 pounders hitting so hard that they almost take the rod out of your hand. I landed a 6 pounder about 5 years ago that left me shaking like a leaf. It took like nothing i've felt before, i can only compare it to hooking a speed boat and i could see this big solid bar of solid silver muscle sparkling in the dead of night as it crashed about on the surface tearing line of my reel and shreaded my nervou
