  1. i do like the mk1 but it was not without its faults ie thumbwheel prone to break/come loose. depth stickers come off. not waterproof.some could complain about the colour grey ie not noticeable when put on the ground .
  2. well done.like the russell type. had a little belter myself in the 80s. good marking/bushing/vermin dog.
  3. they used to be popular in the 70s and 80s in my area mainly 3/4 grey 1/4 deerhound. saw a 1/2 cross bitch run in the eighties from b. nuttals kennels in lancashire. she was excellent. it is many years since i have seen a deerhound cross run.
  4. some pups anticipate the edible reward and start to drop the dummy short.
  5. good luck with her for the future
  6. cracking pics kr. hope the house move went well. dogs look great as always.
  7. pm mrpit off here and he will send you a list. had quite a few of him.
  8. cookie a genuine question. if you lived in a area that held low rabbit numbers and you couldnt get permission on good populated ground would you pack the game in?
  9. i have a soft spot for collie lurchers. all the dogs i have ever had have had collie in them.for the lamping/ferreting/mooching man a excellent choice. quite a few people have line bred them for years d.james rip for example. but i certainly would not discount them being crossed with another lurcher type. when i coursed hares preban my favoured cross was collie lurcher/saluki lurcher it made a biddable robust consistant hare catcher with stamina, other people have had good all rounders ie deerhound/grey x collie/grey and beddy/grey cross collie/grey to name a few.
  10. enjoyed the write up. youre going to have a good little team of helpers for the coming years.atb
  11. yep shes doing well, she was chasing bolting rabbits but id rather her not as iv heard it can cause her to yap while chasing, she can get bored and isnt focused on what is going on yet, but obviously that is to be expected due to her age and only going out a few times just take your time with her. she is too young to be running bolted rabbits. put your time into getting a bond with her and training her to the standard you are happy with.let her get to some in the net first. next season will be her time. good luck.
  12. good beddy crosses do well as daytime hunting up/mooching lurchers.
  13. start work on it soon. be busy as always. breed a few chickens. cant wait.
  14. i have had 2 off him 1 in 1987 and 1 in 1989. as with any dog ive owned i put in the work in training and entering the dogs. 1 had great potential but died at 2 the other had for 17 years made a good honest dog.the other dogs i had were mainly used on hares so i had saluki lurcher x collie lurcher.the first 1 cost £.00 the 2nd 1 £92.00.i have also been told he charges £230.00 these days.
