  3. no matter what your running and where surely you think your dogs capable or you wouuldnt be running him there in the first place! i wouldnt release my dog on something i felt he had no chance of catching If I'm working the dog off a slip then yes I will pick and choose the runs in the dogs favour. That's the main advantage of a slip. Otherwise I couldn't give two hoots. It's rough old ground around here, with no crops, mostly moorland, rough pasture, scrub and forestry, if you know of a dog that working up game on that ground does more than 35%, I will buy your Christmas dinner. so you acce

  5. Depends what your running, where your running it and how hungry you are. And not everybody works a dog off a slip. Some circumstances dictate it, but given the opportunity, I'd rather watch a dog work up its quarry
  6. Some people want instant success. They take on a dog/pup, feed it red mills and raw meat. Get it out behind the bike for a bit. Enter it on a few easy bunnies, brag about it as being the big dog man. Then they step up a level or two in their expectations of the dog. The dog doesn't match these expectations and dog gets moved on or culled 'cos it's shite. These folk need to look in the mirror, not at their dog! And some people just have bad luck
  7. My point was if you look on the net, when lads have been caught coursing, the posts by antis think hare coursing is barbaric.Ill Informed foolsTrue, but who is informing them? A phrase springs to mind, "if I have to explain, you will never understand". The thought of a creature being killed by dogs is abhorrent to a fair percentage of the population, and as such enlightening them will be difficult to say the least. Since coursing is illegal, it makes it harder to defend it principles and easier for the powers that be to slander. As I stated before, we need representative bodies to grow some, and
  8. Bottle of whiskey, bottle of wine, choccys and a fish supper! Feck it I might even give permission to some other bugger than me!
  9. http://www.uttings.co.uk/p112844-aigle-parcours-2-vario-wellington-boots-unisex-bronze-dark-green-84228/#.UrCKJ_RdWSo Make your own mind up about the comments. 2 year warrenty. wear 'em out then send 'em back
  10. Supplier, that is always your first port of call for a refund. They all know that the inside of the heels wear out, but hope that folk buy another pair because they are comfy and relatively cheep
  11. I did, had 2 pairs of muck boots, both wore out at the heel in 6 to 9 months first pair replace like for like. the second pair got my money back and went back to Aigle
  12. Traditionally , willy waggling by hunting folk took place in the pub and/or the field. Mostly there was nothing to hide, but ear wiggling went on, and questions were asked, and answered, within the hostelry. We live in a different world these days. We should not be apologetic
  13. I agree, we should not hide our light under a bushel,if our actions are reasonable, justified and ethical. The media onslaught against all field sports is ridiculous. Our supposedly representative bodies are next to useless. We need a national body that is non apologetic and has the balls and ability to stand up for what we do and why we do it
  14. Valid points, which I have some agreement with. But why the need to publish a picture of it? We all know what our chosen quarry looks like, so unless it's unusual in size or appearance, why stir the pot? As for legal photos, you have to prove its is so. I'd rather people stated what they were up to, real or imaginary and leave it to their piers to decide
  15. I've said it before and I will say it again, better to create memories and not evidence. It's not called the World Wide Web for nowt, and as soon as you publish something on there that's a bit non legit, then you have no reason to be surprised if you get a knock at the door. And it's not just young'uns either
  16. But he would do with a strong stuff collar on
  17. The hunting ban gave the authorities another stick to beat lurcher lads with. However, it was always thus. If you hop a fence, you were, and always will be at the mercy of the law. If you have permission and work within the parameters of the ban there is very little they can do. It would be interesting to see the split between convictions for trespass in pursuit of game, and convictions for breaching the rules of the hunting ban. Then compare those with the stats from before the ban for trespass in pursuit of game
  18. Nice bit of filming, but take your inhaler next time!
  19. it doesn't matter where you go in the world, there is always a bloke with a dog on a bit of blue rope
  20. In my experience bull breeds are not cowardly. But once their "inner bull" is allowed to come to the fore, they will react to instability and/or weakness. They are the best canine barometer of mental balance I have had the pleasure to deal with.
  21. Better that though than the dog 'potentially' ripping into some toddler when it's new owner hasn't got a clue and can't control the f****r. Not saying it would happen, but a lot of people haven't got a clue about dogs in general, especially how quickly any dog can go 'into' one in a split second, and with any powerful type of dog the resulting damage is going to be bad. A neighbour of mine invited us in to see their new baby. She was gibbbering about her GSD 'guarding' the baby. Sure enough it was pacing around the pram looking alert. I put 2 and 2 together and said the dog was attracted b
