  1. Bailing band = agricultural adhesive. I always have a length or two in my pocket, you never know what might need mending whilst you out and about
  2. doesn't take long to dig a ditch in a gate way/ gap in thick hedge with a back hoe
  3. What's folks real experience with one of these?
  4. Plywood bridges over deep ditches
  5. I love working my F1 bull whippet. He is never going to be a fen dog, or do big numbers on the lamp. But what he makes me do is tingle, to see a 22" lion hearted dog bust a gut to catch everything he comes across is such a simple pleasure. And when he connects with something that his stature suggests he shouldn't cope with, those supposed deficiencies go out of the window. Too many people want a see all, find all, catch all and kill all dog, but I think they are missing the point
  6. a bloke I know who does a bit of fly fishing swears by them. I have tried them on and they are unlike any neoprene gloves Ive seen /used. thin, snug fitting and plenty of feel. And not over warm if that makes sense. They are on my xmas list!
  7. nice type that, but put a drain in between the house wall and your flags, looks like water is running back to the house and through the air bricks.
  8. Give these a go SFT Neoprene Gloves & Socks The new Snowbee Seamless Fusion Technology (SFT) is without doubt the most exciting development in Neoprene construction for years. This new, patented technique is used to produce some totally unique new Neoprene gloves and socks, which will appeal to all fishing and shooting disciplines. 13124 Snowbee SFT Neoprene Gloves Unlike traditional neoprene construction where the seams are butt glued & blind stitched, this new technique uses new technology to weld the seams together and then apply an ultra thin, highly elastic tape. 9. What does athletic type mean?Maybe that could be the problemIf only genetics were that simple. An athletic type bull breed and a leggy/beefy whippet will/may have other types within their breeding and in the half cross of some such dogs some beauties may be created. And the odd lump the odd lump not in the best of shape in these pics
  10. Is that the one with Richard Jones in it..... Dai fish was in the original
  11. Fair enough. Let's wait for the lady hunter ;0)

And the odd lump Not denying that but what bull was used? My own dog is based on an athletic bull type, but my earlier response was based upon reality. Breeding isn't maths. Unless you breed the best lurcher to the best lurcher. But even then.............

  14. Nobody knows what the best of anything is. Only what is the best in their experience or opinion. The consensus of opinion is a choice of Meindl, lowa, and Altberg. After that I think it's down to what your very specific requirements are and the best fit. Excluding cost of course !
  15. They have the stamina to recover from a run, and go again and again, but in my (limited) experience, not the wind for those runs to be over long. Talking half x here by the way!
  16. Why's that?As pesting dogs they do very well. But for all round lurcher work, particularly on rougher terrain they need that bit more stature, especially the half cross. I'm not being kennel blind 'cos I have one. I'd love to see one put to a good coursing saluki whippet though. Anyone tried it?
  17. So do a lot of your collars!!!
  18. What's wrong with dispatch with an air pistol? I've used a .22 hurricane for years to deal with small vermin in cage traps. A back to front RWS hobby usually does the job
  19. I used to get a tub in my Xmas stocking every year as a kid and that is at least 30 years ago. I fired one through a tractor door once out of my HW35 with the expected result................. Got my arse kicked big style
  20. It will take a bit more than that to delete images that you have put on the forum
  21. I'd take it steady with that Lolo pup, looks a bit fragile to me. Be better with a dash more collie in my eyes
  22. Most lurchers are "purpose bred". It's just a shame that dog men are not. More good dogs get ruined by bad "dog men" than "bad" dogs get polished up by good "dog men".
  23. clubriter is a cracking wee torch. Good for air gun and rimfire ranges. the beam is a bit tight for dog work, but once you and the dogs get used to it, they are okay. Best used as a spotting/ back up lamp for dog work, I find it handy as you can run it on a lower level, which is useful if you are checking for obstacles as you move around.
