  1. Keep him going in the small places, some of them are naturals but the bulk of them learn their trade as they go through life.
  2. Why breed more when you've just sold a dog that's ready to work ?
  3. The old boy I dig with has a full set of dentures, I never knew for years, until he hit some hard ground with the banjo and they went flying into the bottom of the dig ! I couldn't breath for ages, almost pissed my pants. The misses has a false implant, you can't tell it from the rest but at £2.600 for one it's not a cheap option.
  4. There's one in almost every field :-) I don't know if it's still running but there used to be an underground range on the Ashbourne to Leek road, on the cross Roads for Ilam and Cheadle. I can't remember his name but others may help.
  5. Here's another thought, what if the same mating happened five years apart, could it be the user error factor ? By that a mean the owner the second time around could of lost the same drive he had or just didn't put the same effort into the pups ? I'm of the opinion that like begets like and you only get out what you put in.
  6. I don't think i know a single line of terriers that doesn't throw an undershot pup, or bad coat, to big, to small, you name it they've thrown it
  7. He's still a baby, he won't stop filling out until he's 18 months minimum
  8. Had the same many years ago with a good terrier bitch, same result but I wish to this day I'd of had a few second opinions.
  9. The pups are still pups mate, seven or eight months old. They're marking places now and ragging fresh kills. I took them to try for a few rats the other day, one was busy digging, the other was rolling in shit. I'll let you know towards the end of this season if I get round to starting them in a pisser somewhere.
  10. The pups from my first litter were poor, three dogs worked and one bitch but they were all VERY slow to mature. The pups from the second litter are stronger, bigger and were cocking their legs at six months, the dog I have from the first litter is three and has just started to cock his leg. No one has got all the answers, I totally agree with Neil on his views. I've had thirty plus years on the bank and all I can say is every dog is an individual so no amount of theorising would make you any the wiser.
  11. Because I'm an honest man Neil I'll tell you that I had nothing to do with the breeding of either litter. The first was by a young dog who stole the bitch, the second was the same dog given the chance yet again through bad management. Don't blame me for the second litter (I was in hospital) but I'll take it on the chin for the first, I'm getting dull with old age.
  12. I've got pups here off a repeat mating and the pups off the second litter are twice the animals.
  13. The emptiest can makes the loudest noise, most of the internet experts wouldn't know one end of a terrier from the other.
  14. Dirty b*****d should be boiled in a pot then shot :-) They reckon he knocked the back out of at least one trannie a week to !
  15. He called it Don, he was a big dog FM, if I remember right it died in the vets of a twisted gut.
  16. On a more serious note, everyone's got a different opinion of just what hard is, I for one won't have a terrier that gets itself into the hospital wing to much. I know they've got a job to do and the game is unforgiving but something that can't learn to sit back and work it's game instead of going balls out to kill it is of no use to me.
  17. If I had my time again I'd sign up tomorrow.
  18. Collie crosses for me Neil, I can't stand the bull x's , I don't doubt there's some top dogs out there and the fat lad who I came with has one you wouldn't believe but I'm just old fashioned :-)
  19. No Neil, it's a collie x greyhound but without the bull in it. I honestly don't know the breeding of that old bitch but there isn't a week goes by that I don't think about her, she left a massive hole in my yard.
  20. Get a gun instead, lurcher scene is just as much on its ass Revoked, it's a long story, to late anyway it's already on the yard and no it's not a bull x
  21. The more I read on here the more I think about getting a lurcher and knocking the job on the head.
  22. It would be a different matter digging out a good dog coyote I saw bigger than this when I was out there, good going all the same.
