  1. funny how haglers name has name come up before??That's because the dog will be be remembered by those who saw the dog work and the way he went about and quantity he did work. Not because he was he 2nd class working dog Because the dog was 1st class. What else you got to remember was the dog was not open to any body who wanted to use the dog on a bitch, or to anyone who had £100 in their arse pocket....prefer [bANNED TEXT] you want, I know my preference.. Bitch !
  2. It's a fact because Langars said so, no axe to grind what so ever I'm sure, bollocks
  3. It doesn't hurt anyone, it's a load of bollocks and in truth who gives a f**k if it had westy in it !
  4. I say it's got everything to do with JP, where did you hear it ? I heard it straight from JP, I know who told it to JP and I don't believe it for a second. As much as I dislike NS I still respect his ability with terriers and what he left behind. In truth myself, JP, and dozens more, including DF have made our name with his line of terriers (border x or not). IMO it's beneath any of us to bitch and moan and make up conspiracy theories, grow up, dig your terriers and move on.
  5. Heard it all, seen it all, water off a ducks back
  6. Let me make this clear, I consider myself a very good friend of JP, I mean him no malice, I totally disagree but I'll share a pint and discuss it anytime.
  7. I haven't owned one that point blank refused to work again but the old boy I dig with had one. She was a Nuttall bitch, I can't remember her name, it might be Ness, I'll ask him later.
  8. I won't add to it, there's enough pictures of Hagler and his sister to prove he's no border X. The original terrier I had from Stevens was Toby, all the old boys in my area swore he was half border or at least had heavy border influence, he was way before Hagler. Tell Jason to wind his neck in, I'm not swallowing his B'S
  9. If a lie is repeated often enough people will believe it
  10. The original bitches I had from a Stevens dog to a McCoy bitch would literally stop or go very poor a couple of weeks before they broke down, almost as though they'd never worked before. Once their heat cycle was over they came back hard as nails until they settled down through work. If I had a litter out of one of them they'd come back almost suicidal, it was so obvious it didn't take many examples for you to spot it, it slapped you in the face. All any of us can do is give them a chance to settle down and put their heads right, FFS we give the same benefits to the misses at least once a m
  11. Hormones, I've seen bitches hard as nails after a litter and I've seen bitches never work again after a litter. .......woman problems, men weren't meant to understand
  12. PMSL if I had ten to pick through I'd still find mine and use it, you get used to the feel of them. I'll be pickling my head all day now thinking of a name for her !
  13. The second one is what I use, I've put a metal handle and a metal shaft in it now, after many years use. I'd put a picture up but I wouldn't want you perverts getting off on my baby.
  14. You can do all the research you want, it won't help. Even in the same litter of line bred terriers you'll get different characters, hard, steady, cowardly and so on, there's no way of ordering an off the shelf terrier of type mentally. Best of luck looking for what you want but IMO the only way forward is to jump in with both feet

  16. I've had a couple of litters that had elongated soft palate, easy to sort out, a simple operation. I've never seen it before a certain stud was used and I don't know anyone else that's had it before.
  17. I had the pleasure of meeting Jack last year, a proper character, I enjoyed his company and I'd love to have shared a shovel back in the day with him.
  18. I worship the ground this old fart walks on, never told a lie and a pleasure to keep and work. Eleven years old on this dig last year, she's still fit and well and as long as she's willing she'll be out this season too.
  19. I've used the Hanwag Alaska for years, you won't beat them for quality, if you're on a budget then get the British army cold weather boots of EBay.
  20. Well this isn't the sort of tampering that came to mind......Two minutes wasted
  21. Nine times out of ten it goes as fast as it comes, shave the fur from around it and bath it. Once you've done that use some fusiderm ointment, you can buy it from Tesco over the counter but you can get a stronger version from the vet.
