Permission And The Poachers Angle
desertbred replied to desertbred's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
The dog looks familiar! the man and dog could possibly be flushing to guns on permission and it has been doctored with the printing, just a thought or paranioa -

Permission And The Poachers Angle

I have permission and my landowners have been threatened many times because the wildlife officer "suspects "I might be coursing one word "victimisation" -
When farmers and land owners are threatened regularly with prosecution for allowing some hunting activities on their land, and fines of £5,000, is it any wonder permissions are hard to come by ? A legislation that was badly conceived and drafted has left thousands on the grey side of a discriminatory law that will for example allow hunting of hares as long as they are despatched by gun or bird but cant be coursed and despatched by dogs yet if one is winged it can then be hunted by a dog and despatched in the most humane and quickest method possible in the prevailing circumstances. Now posters

Association Of Working Lurcher/longdogs ( Awl )
desertbred replied to Giro's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Look Giro its not a Demand you want to post on a public forum expect Questions Alan Tyer is chair of the AWL or President and I dont think he would have any objections responding to my questions. So get of your tricycle sonny.your a snotty nose, so grow up and put your brain in gear before you start flapping your gums. -
Thats my guess too. I suspect congestive heart failure due to an clot, Could have PM but it will not change anything. Just put it down as part of lifes rough tapestry A lot of the bull breads have genetic heart conditions especially the larger breeds life expectancy is not as long as some of the breeds just something that has become apparent to me over the years. Sorry for your loss, part of life as you rightly said.

Association Of Working Lurcher/longdogs ( Awl )
desertbred replied to Giro's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Reading some of the recent posts, some reasonable questions have been asked and various reasons offered why some cannot be answered possibly not advisable on a public.forum. I do how ever have an uneasy feeling that the AWL seems to be slipping into the die hard habits of the old regime. Dont want to be accountable and seem to be flexing muscles as they seem to be of the opinion they are the only kids on the block. The representation that is talked about rolls of the tongues but then it is contradicted by words and actions e.g trying to rekindle embers and open old superficial wounds. Those -

Where Will Lurcher Be In 10-20 Year Time
desertbred replied to bob84's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
As long as Man sets foot on the land and there is game to be had, there will always be sets of dog prints in the mud, The prints may vary in size and number but the Hunter/poacher/dog man partnership is forged of blood sweat and tears for generations. Laws may come and go but that particular partnership has stood the test of time. Some of the breeds have changed overtime, some have not, people who use dogs for a particular purpose have in the past tried to breed the perfect animal, some have come close others have f****d it up. show ring dogs come to mind especially those claiming to represent -
Why Is It Labeled Such A Bad Crime ?
desertbred replied to Saluki246's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
The least united activity in country pursuits is the running dog community, the majority are glory seekers and self promoters ,in it to be a name or to exploit those of less experience but with the same ambitions. As some one stated in England organised coursing is gone and never coming back. The amendments to the Hunting Act will never include dogs on hares or deer. those that say it will are either nieve or deceitful.. Lurchers working the rabbits are already accommodated within the present Act. The individual or a pair have a reasonable chance of following the tradition of running as long
