Put sentiment out of the window, say the litter wasnt yours, and you have travelled 300 miles for a look at the litter, your planning to spend a piece of your hard earned cash, which animal would you pick from your experience to be your companion and work colleague make a hard nose choice and dont second guess it.     A good stock man knows or should know the quality of his stock and its value. Socks knows what hes got and he knows £160 is not a true value, but hes not motivated by money he earns enough from his dogs in his profession. Quality is not something that comes along everyday and to me breeding should be primarily about trying to improve lines. Traditionally we some times gift the odd dog but excess are usually culled.     How long is a piece of string? A quality dog thats earned a name out on the land and is a proven producer of good working off spring ,to divide that between say 8 pups top dollar you could be looking 4 figures. A good working dog without proven off spring probably £250.unless its some thing special. Some of the studs that have made their name on the internet nothing.

    Some times you get what you pay for sometimes you dont, no one is forced into buying a dog or a pup, People who are into certain pass times should understand what they are into e.g someone likes cars understand cars and their values same with dogs , a good stock man should be able to differentiate between bull shit and sales hype, Breeding and history of the litter help to sort the wheat from the chaff and shortens the odds regarding getting something chancey able to do what you want.
