It was my life,i spent 3 years hunting with her, ferreting around the Lancashire hedgerows,i was 9 and when a mate of my dads, from Preston and an avid ferreter saw me out with the russel and ferret he bought both off my dad without me knowing,i came home from school to an empty ferret hutch and russel kennel.Id laugh now but it still irks 51 years,2 months,4 days and 7 hours later. Then folk cannot believe what an arse I am at times.
-
I'm pleased it healed from that, possibly as pleased a yourself, fact, its your dog and what it catches is a reward only you can fully appreciate, what I want you to accept is what you find acceptable is not acceptable to others, happy hunting mush because that's all that matters.
-
Behave it did not run that bad.
-
The best lurchers are owned by the most arrogant and unlikeable souls, they have the best breed standards, fact.
-
It takes a great lamping lurcher to be a great lamper, the owner helps.Im not having a knock at you fella,im having a knock at modern expectations.Take a walk with a lamper and his lamping lurcher, there are still many about,if they posted a video you would be smitten.
-
again bollocks. There is nothing in life I admire as much as a lurcher in full flight, there is nothing I like a little less than a lurcher that is portrayed to be a little more than its capability.I like lurchers, more than often not my own,i like their diversity and evolution, what I fail to like is modern lurcher ownership and shallow expectations. If folk post ill take up the challenge to respond,if that response irks sensitive souls like yourself then I'm here to irk.Id rather congratulate than criticise, its hard to congratulate today with the low standards expected of many a lurcher today and

I came from a time when we had to be a tad more breed specific, the first russel I bought was a swap for a ferret and 10 bob

So why not be honest about the fact?,its easy enough to patronise every ego on here and let them believe they are the dogs bollocks, most of us are not, including myself. The facts are the lad thought he owned a lamper and you encourage that, the dogs a turd and if my negative input allows a few to realise the same and attempt to own something a little better then I believe my input is more beneficial,it may upset a delicate few, sob, sob, sob, the rest will catch more later on.
-
If your happy with the mutt that's all that matters mucker,if you post you are open to scrutiny, the dog is a poor catcher and in 5 seasons time it will be the same.
-
Bollocks,if I was to post about lamping id make fecking sure the lurcher was adept at its graft before I was brave enough to put it on an open forum for the populace to gratify my ego.The dog ran a rabbit like it was a winter hare. Its the soppy cnuts like you that make a mockery of lurchers and the need to portray our sport in a favourable light. The dog ran like a turd, some post that fact and others would rather we saw the same through rose tinted lenses, say it as you see it.

Am I allowed to state the obvious, its not a russel?
-
I read a post in a tabloid, recently, about what they perceived to be pushy parents. They made their kids work for their pocket money and set them daily chores, the amount of folk that thought that child cruelty.Children are a barometer of their parents.
-
That dog is a poor catcher.
-
That's what id class as values some of us grew up in,fair play son, those values are lost on most now.
-
I'm also sure not all of them would, most of them but not all.We live in times now where the younger generation are spineless, they wander round like fecking sheep,no pride,no purpose and no fecking gonads.A few generations ago they stood up for themselves and British values, what are British values now?.Attempt to give English youth manual labour and look for graft and honesty from them,no fecking chance, they want the cake, the gravy and the leisure without earning it,its their god given right now to do feck all and reap the bounty. If there was to be a 3rd world war the health and safety would,nt

Your never to old?.
-
Id keep it simple and use a Coursing bred Greyhound, then id be willing to waste a few seasons on this cross until it was possible to breed a second generation lurcher from this mix,the first generation cross is often a pale shadow of things to come.Id never put whippet in the mix because of its influence on the size of future litters and what the whippet lacks,it lacks far more than it offers.
-
Grimy, drug dealers and whores, sounds an awful lot like Britain when we started the industrial revolution and ran the world.
-
You would have thought a little research would have made for a sturdier type of bench.
-
One of the finest ratters ive witnessed was a whippet, the worst ive seen to be patched up nearly every time it entered harsh cover was the same whippet,it ripped easier than a tarts clouts.
-
I understand where you are coming from because I'm of the same opinion as yourself in certain situations,i should have been a tad clearer in the first instance. To clarify my point nothing can work tight cover,on rabbits or anything else, like a terrier,a lurcher not working rabbits needs to smash the brambles.
-
Ive watched lurchers run and enter, without changing gear, dense patches of brambles,if they had checked and changed into a lower gear, the chase would have been futile.I don,t expect a lurcher to follow rabbit runs through brambles, you stated the average lurcher would,nt work brambles which to me is a lurcher better left at home.
-
The ones that do catch a tad more than an average spectator,im not talking about the stupid dumb lurchers that smack into hedges, walls and pylons because they are to thick to bounce,im talking about the lurcher that works alongside the busher and needs the aptitude to treat brambles with a little disdain,id kick a lurcher scared of brambles.
-
Bedlingtons are so quentin crisp.
-
Id accept a bloody good thrashing on the bare buttocks with a whippet.
