I remember a show several years ago when a big black bullx was awarded best in show,the judge did not like bull bred lurchers but awarded the top ribbon to the top dog on the day,Churchy owned the dog and I was the judge,the terrier judge on the day was a big mate of ians and he drove me back to Yorkshire,i remember a show,later on at Selby,when ian was robbed of the best terrier because of favouritism and I remember another show at Wireside fisheries,Lancaster,when Ian took a Bellman and flint set up for best working terrier in show.Ive talked to the lad,ive seen his dogs and know a few of hi

The last Lakey I owned id never have bred from,a prominent lakey breeder offered to put his dog over her and he was willing to give me £250 a pup for the offspring,the bitch was fecking mental,which showed when the Akita she tried to kill for years killed her.Find a decent Lakey worker bred now?,it will not come from the north east.

Read through some of my posts,my favourite terrier is the Lakey,my favourite working terrier is the Bedlington,they are easier to source and that's a fact.The Lakey was destroyed several decades ago because of the show scene and dollar.I know of more working Bedlingtons than Lakelands and that's so fecking sad.It boils my urine when folk look to the north east for the salvation of the Lakey,salvation of many a wallet perhaps?.Ive owned both and ill never own my favourite terrier again.

lb for pound for me the hardest mutt ever bred was the Black and tan lakey,no other terrier ever lived in the lakeys shadow,ever.The only reason the black terrier ever became more dominant was because of its ribbon value.The finest working black terrier now is a grey shadow of its earlier Lakey heritage.
