I've been washing and lubing pellets with WD40 before I bought all the rifles I now have, and every tin I buy is so prepared so, I do not have comparison test data to offer here. However, the level of reliable, consistent accuracy I get from my rifles tells me everything is running as it should. If anything, it is the odd inconsistent pellet I get in H&N Field Target Trophy .22 that causes the only deviations I get with all my Weihrauch spring rifles. Otherwise, they perform beautifully well. With my Air Arms TX200HC .177 and TX200 rifle with washed/lubed Air Arms field ammo, it's the same

pianoman replied to hunter1989's topic in General Airgun Discussion
Same goes for me Davey Steve. Understand that I am not among your accusers or your detractors here. You have handled this matter like a complete and utter idiot roaring for conflict, instead of calmly trying to quell the situation YOU ALONE have got yourself into. When you started acting like you didn't give a shit about what we think of you here or, you don't count us as among your friends. There are lads here who have stepped up to the plate for you. They don't have much money as it is, but, they were prepared to chip in and help a situation with your little girl..On the strength of YO -

Steve. This is what I'm talking about. Just read the words of these good men and know where their kindnesses are comng from, before you start dismissing anyone here as if they were of no real consequence to you. Or your little girl! That's what's put my back up with you fella. -
I absolutely swear by washing and lubing. Wash out the swarfe and lead dusts with Fairy Liquid in a glass bowl. You'll be amazed how much detritus you'll find at the bottom. Sieve out, repeat and rinse. Dry with a hairdryer on kitchen paper and lube with a very fine film-coat of WD40. Job done. Magic! Simon

Steve. I've just read the attacks and accusations made on you on the locked thread. More importantly, how you have reacted to them. You were the author of that thread originally. Pleading your innocence and accusing others from another, unconnected airgun forum. No-one's business here really, but your own. But, putting it here, brought your accusers here! What they wrote were quite reasonable, searching questions into your conduct in selling goods on their forum, but, instead of giving reasonable answers back and being compliant towards an amicable resolve, you degenerated into abusi -
International Arms dealer gets caught!
pianoman replied to markha's topic in General Airgun Discussion
I have no sympathy whatsoever. This guy had everything going for him on a plate. Great, well-established business founded by his father and grandfather, servicing a massive shooting customer base in the best part of the county; all the shooting he could possibly want. All he had to do was keep on selling shotguns, rifles and the gear... But oh no. That's not enough. There's a quick killing to be made with illegal imports of AK47 drum mags from China to the US. Quite apart from the on-going investigation of an illegal arms consignment of 40,000 AK47 assault rifles passing through his h -
Air rifle humane kill range

He shoots with a spring rifle Scotty. He cannot use anything but the palm of his hand for support mate North Wales Hunter SPA =Slut Point Award; is simply a pleasent recognition of good, correct points or helpful advice within a thread or post. Have a look at the pinned notice "What Is SPA? on the header page here. -
Hi Andy! Yep I know mate. I'll be kicking myself forever over it. I'll get it out on Sunday,,, See you then. Simon

Bloody hell!!!! What a pile of absolute rip-off shite these pcps really are. Every other day it seems, lads are forking out serious hard-earned money for a load of over-rated, over-priced bollocks and divers bottles and all that crap...And it won't work properly, or its cylinder leaks air, or it's regulator jammed somehow, or its magazine won't index, or, or, or.... Now a flip of a badge and VOILA! that's another five hundred quid on the bill! I honestly despair for anyone who experiences this. Simon

Hi Rob4490 and welome here Over £500 worth of rifle and scope for 200 quid,,,Blimey the guy's near giving it away! I have a fine condition lefthand .177 cal TX200HC with a nicely mellowed American Walnut stock and I'm thinking of selling her. And if I added my Nikko Stirling Nighteater 6-24x44 to it, I'd want around £350 or very near. These are blisteringly accurate rifles and the Nikko is a great scope. I adore mine and it's going to be like seeing an old friend go forever if I go ahead and put her up for sale. If there's nothing wrong with it, snap his hand off and grab a barg

Air rifle humane kill range
pianoman replied to North Wales Hunter's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
Hi mate and welcome to the section. Just a note to fully endorse Andy's spot-on answer. Your best hunting range lies entirely within your ability to hit a tight, penny sized 10-shot group to the limit where it starts to come apart with your aim. As an indication of maximums, a sub-12 ft/lb air rifle with an output in excess of 10.5 can lob a .22 pellet over 400 yards and, theoretically at least, retains enough kinetic energy to ensure penetration and humanely kill a rabbit through the head to 250 yards so, we are really only using a small amount of the available range with maximum power, -
The Theoben company is British and the name is an amalgam of the names of the two guys who formed the company Mole. One of who was Ben Taylor (you can guess the name of the other guy!) who sold his stake in Theoben to set up his own airgun company with his son, B.T.A.S. Airguns, a number of years ago And for myself; WEIHRAUCH HW77 STUTZEN .22.... Be still my fluttering heart!

Hi R488IT. No one with an answer yet? I'm not certain myself as I have neither rifle in my collection. But I think the answer you seek lies with a visit to your gunshop and a chat with the gunsmith or, a phone call to Hull Cartridge. ATB Simon

Send a PM to secretagentmole. He's mentioned fancying a Theoben Evolution on the dream rifle thread.

Hello Dai. Welcome here. We'd really need to see some photos to help assess how much TLC your HW77 actually needs. The beauty of Weihrauch air rifles is that, they are easy to work on and restore. And, from the wording of your post, you are well aware that they go on shooting beautifully well, even though the externals might be in a bit of a state. In my honest opinion, after shooting spring rifles for many years, the Wheihrauch spring piston air rifle is the very best there is and, the HW77 is the cream of the crop. It is the finest spring underlever rifle of all. ATB Simon

Hi Andy. I know mate but, I shot enough with your .20 HW90 to get a real appreciation for how nice a rifle in this calibre can be. And yours is really lovely. But then, I'm a total geek for Weihrauch rifles as it is. It may be though, that our friend here needs to put his rifle, for sale in a more favourable light. Cheers mate. Hope you are well.

Hi mate. The markets for selling anything are not good right now in the current shit financial climate, but, people are still looking for bargains and something new or different. The Theoben Evolution was a good rifle but, .20 calibre is what may be putting a lot of would-be buyers off. Have you tried to eliminate doubts here, like, mentioned best, most consistent pellet for it? How good its condition? How well it performs? You say, quote; you love it, it hits like a .22 but has a straight line shot like a .177 so best of both worlds. But then you add "or so I've been told"...??

Fine rifle you have here Owen. And the Hawke SR6 4-16x50 scope is a good 'un; I've got two of these for my TX200s Looking forward to hearing about your hunting forays with it young fella ATB Simon

Perfect answer Andy. As an HW80 owner myself redda09, 50mm objective lens scopes are fine but, if you can find a quality 40mm scope like a Simmons Whitetail Classic or Bushnell Trophy on low mounts, you'll find your HW80 is a lot more consistently accurate and better balanced. I have two 4-14x40mm AO Simmons Whitetail Classic on one of my HW80 .22 rifles and the other for my HW77 .22. No other scope touches it for what it does for these rifles performances. If you spot one 2nd hand, snap it up! Simmons no longer makes it alas! As it is, this Tasco shouldn't present problems for your

Yes, yes, yes! This is what I really like to hear. Top lads competing skill for skill and taking the prizes! Si you are a true sportsman and a fine ambassador for the sport in recognising Ste's accomplishment this way. Ste. Congratulations on a most creditable win in adverse winds. That makes your victory all the more well-deserved in my book. WELL DONE TO BOTH OF YOU. :clapper: :clapper: Simon Edit to add. Ste thanks sincerely for the mention buddy but, it's you that put it to work mate. I'm delighted to see you getting results by it fella!

Great read this one Karpman It's a great feeling for your confidence when your rifle gets her first kill, swiftly and cleanly despatched with a single, accurate shot to the brain. Squirrels are just another scavenging rat with cute looks. Your garden birds will not have complaints here, even if, like mine, your neighbours will probably faint in a Victorian melodramatic swoon at the sight of Tufty getting zapped. What does he taste like? SPA for cooking your first kill with the S200 fella Simon

Well WB, I'm not a pcp man and certainly, I prefer long-barrel spring rifles. But, "stick with what you know" is often wise advice . .22cal. from a short-barrel carbine should certainly not present you with any trajectory conditions you don't already know how to handle . So, enjoy whatever the benefits of a shorter-handling rifle may be, with a trajectory you already appreciate and know how to shoot with. .177 will give you a flatter trajectory but, it requires you to adjust your hold technique with a fraction more finesse, I've found, to get the best out of it. If you're prepar

Never lost zero in 6 years ftm? Your Simmons Whitetail Classic scope is still as sharp on the dot, centre-to-centre zero, as it was the day you mounted it six years ago and it's never been taken off your Rapid-7 ?? Blimey! I've been regularly shooting with a beautiful Simmons Whitetail Classic 4-14x40 AO scope for over 10 years and I always need a click or two of re-zero from session to session. You're a very lucky chap indeed. I've honestly never heard of that before. ATB Simon

Well, I must say it's nice to see a post or two from the ladies of the section; even if none too complimentary of your endeavour Steve. Never mind old chum, speaking as professional artist and illustrator myself, the rabbits won't have any complaints ATB Simon
