  1. TRU GLO SIGHTS??.... Say no more! Ooooh...'bloody great pig just went past the rooftops!
  2. Unbelievable is the operative word with you here Steve laddie. After all you've just been through with AGF members accusing you of scamming and lying the arse off them; to vehement denials from you. And here you are; proudly telling the world how you've shafted your own brother out of his HW97K for a Hatstand pile of bollocks. I'd have loved to have heard the bullshit you must have spun to con that out of him. Because I'll never believe in a million years he made the first move with all his wits and intelligence about him. Either he's a total numpty with no idea of what he h
  3. Great write up and pics Millsy (whaddya mean "getting tired" of your write-ups?? NONESENSE!! Keep em coming!) Nothing like getting a new rifle "Blooded"! Seems all my rabbits have headed up North to your way or, down South where Si and Davy are shooting. Nothing doing much here right now. ATB Simon
  4. DON'T YOU FECKIN@ DARE!!  :feck: Ryan. Thanks mate and good luck with your return to the sport.
  5. Ahhh, NOPE! Hi Dogvixen01. Although the same specs; there will be some quality issues between the two makers; like lenses, quality of coatings, able to hold zero through changing temperatures throughout the course of a shooting day. AGS scopes aren't bad for cheap and cheerful but, the Leapers are a bit better on quality generally. Simon
  6. Same answer with me really. I have a .177 TX200HC that is truly accurate at all ranges. I thought that was as accurate as it gets... But, I recently bought a Weihrauch HW77 in .22 and it will hit ten rounds through a 5p size hole at 60 yards -as witnessed by AndyFR1968 here! As BEARINATOR says it, it's a personal choice thing but either calibre is well up to mark for hunting with superb accuracy. Simon
  7. Hi Tony. I'm so sorry to hear of your efforts to get yourself some decent permission of your own is not meeting with success but, keep at it fella. I just bloody blessed with this place of mine and Ian would give you the run of it if you were up here with Andy and me. The pheasant and game bird shooting syndicate the gamekeeper runs here will set you back nearly three hundred quid per day but I get the lot for nowt because I spend every spare day and night in the summer pest controlling on it and getting Josh properly coached for the job. The other farmers in the area know me as a reliable, t
  8. Thank you Karpman. Are you in Yorkshire? Come over and have a shoot and a mooch with us sometime. You are right about time here. I've spent whole days from dawn to dusk on my shoot and every minute is filled with 60 seconds of sensations of sight, sound and smell. I've seen Kestrels and Buzzards nest building. Roe deer with their young fawns nervously emerging from the woods into the morning mists at first light. Badgers snuffling along the forest tracks made by scores of woodland animals before. I have a very strong and proud sense of history and this place connects with centuries of
  9. Sounds more like your fieldcraft needs an overhaul . If the rabbits are spooked, it's because they are at least aware of your presence, even if your cammo is concealing your actual position. You may see .177 as giving you a longer reach but, that's not the real answer. If you want an absolutely reliable, powerful and utterly accurate .177 rifle I'd go for Weihrauch HW97, HW77 or Air Arms TX200/TX200HC underlevers. Weihrauch HW80, HW90 gas ram, HW95 break-barrel OR Diana 52 sidelever. I cannot recommend any pcp. They all need further developement and improvement in the robust construct
  10. Cheers Steve. There is a vast amount of ancient forest and farmland that makes up my permission in total and I'm very, very lucky, when I read of lads looking for places to shoot and a permission of their own. There is just about every type of air rifle quarry feeding off the crops here and the winds are predictable for successful approaches. My farmer friend lets me know where the main trouble's coming from and I saddle up and shoot over it. Very few squirrels but there's a hell of a lot of mink coming in for some reason, that gets into the woods and the river valley. Tons of rabbits but yo
  11. Anything like a beany bag, pillow in a rucksack, anything that comfortably supports and cushions your leading forearm while your hand supports the rifle forestock will do a wonderful job for your accuracy with a spring rifle. NEVER ATTACH A BIPOD to a spring rifle. Don't even think about it! Simon
  12. What calibre is your TX200HC Rob? Mine's .177 and I have regularly taken rabbits clean through the head at 45 metres with it. But the best range of all is the one YOU are comfortably reliable with. To increase your range accuracy takes a lot of practice and NEVER on live quarry. Simon
  13. Nice one you two fellas, Good to see the weather was a lot kinder to you than it was for Andy and me yesterday. Good prone position there Steve. Tilting your weight slightly onto your left side will ease pressure on your diaphragm and help your breathing. Good! Simon
  14. Bollocks! You have a pretty decent scope there Rob! Sounds like the guy wants to diss the scope you have, so he can flog you another scope. Give me that Nikko Target Master on my TX200HC for an hour and I'll show you good stuff with it. 6-24 mag gives you a good cross-over mag range for hunting and target shooting and you should mount it comfortably clear of the action with medium height mounts. If the scope's making access to the loading port a bit of a fiddle then. go to high mounts. As long as you know how to mount the scope perfectly level to the action with perfect eye relief and
  15. Fair play Si mate  It really is a downer when the rabbit sport's well on, your rifle and scope is singing like a bird in your hands one minute and then...it all goes apparently wrong. That's why I love air rifles mate. You never quite get them absolutely, predictably sussed out the way you can with full-bore cartridge rifles and shotguns. Still, what you miss today is always sport for tomorrow :toast: Cheers mate. Simon
  16. Hi Rob. The TX200 standard rifle is incapable of having a silencer fitted but, the TX200HC is threaded to take a silencer or an adaptor for one. Frankly, don't bother. The bull-barrels are already baffled and the rifles are smooth and quiet as they are from the box. In my experience, the TX200HC handles perfectly well without one. Best pellet for these rifles are Air Arms Field, JSB Exact and FX. All are 16 grain in .22. 8.4 grain in .177. Take special note of pellet head-sizes. ATB Simon
  17. Hang on here a minute! Is this really your idea of an off-day Si?? Hmmm??? Bloody hell mate I wish I had days as crap as this!
  18. Thanks for this Bill mate. That's very kind of you. Si had it right when he said there are some quality lads, true gents and talented shooters on this section. Andy certainly is one of all three! All the best to you too mate. Simon
  19. Hi Ste. Yep, I found about a half of one foot pound's energy gain and it holds it consistently. Obviously, if it takes the rifle over the limit, you can't use it. But then you shouldn't need it at that level anyway. In truth, it is more of an aid to accuracy by better consistency in your rifle's barrel than by any means of real kinetic power-gain. It seems reasonable, at least, that a clean, rifled barrel; firing clean, smooth-coated ammo will perform better and last longer, than a dirty one with lead swarfe and dust compacted into the lands. ATB Simon
  20. I can certainly vouch for Bill's MTC Viper. A great scope and a real genuine bargain at that price Were it not for the eye trouble, I very much doubt you'd be selling your vipers. Eh, Bill?! Simon
  21. WOWWWWWWWWW!!! That's bloody awesome Basejumper! How long does it take to errect? I can see a use for this on my permission. Simon
  22. Well said Si and thanks mate. You want to get up to join us and come shoot here when you're home from Germany mate, this is really just a fraction of land my permission covers It's a bit more of a dampener when I've been out on my own and found absolutely nothing about; or pulled off a hell of a shot and nobody saw it! But, it's great to have a mate, regardless of a bag or not, to share the walks and target shooting with. I think Andy does himself down a bit here. I've seen him shoot before and he's nobody's beginner. He has an elegantly correct hold on his .177 cal. Diana 52 sidelever w
  23. Thanks Andy you are welcome anytime to shoot in this truly beautiful bit of God's county with me mate. The Went valley and surrounding fields is what every shooter wishes for in a permission of his own. Miles of sprawling forest, fields full of crop and no end of quarry...and a bloody big quarry at the beginning of it all. It has been my permission since childhood with my dad really, and I have never grown tired of it or wished for more and it's a pleasure to share it with you. You don't need lessons from me in respect of your hold on your rifle Andy, it looks perfectly right to me. We'
  24. The oil of Spitfires Craig! Well it will be if you use too much. And definately NOT a DROP or even a whiff up the skirt
  25. Beautiful rifle Dai. You're going to love it! :thumbs I was out shooting today in the rain, but a good day for all that as I had Andyfr1968 over on my permission and we had a good target and stalking session with his Diana 52 .177 and my TX200HC .177 getting absolutely soaked. My new HW77 is going nowhere near such weather! Simon
