  1. Aye, seems to have resolved itself with me now! Thanks lads. Good to see everyone else is running fine too. Simon
  2. Some guy comes to the door like this, DO NOT bash him one, no matter how much you want to. It'll only make your case look worse. Alex, you did the right thing trying to talk reasonably to him but, he was on a mission to get you banned and he's succeeded. For Now... Go back and have a reasonable word with the lady landowner and explain your case with example of the good you have done for her. It sounds to me like she's been a bit startled by this knob, lying his case with bullshit in the name of the law so, be calm and reassuring. And be tactful about the birds you shoot. If this guy ha
  3. HELP! Just tried to access the Hunting Section of the new site layout here. It refuses me with; AN ERROR OCCURED. YOU DO NOT HAVE PERMISSION TO VIEW THIS SITE. Err why is this? Simon
  4. The very thing I had in mind as it should be. Clear and concise as to where appropriate posts should go. Thank you for putting the forum so well together Admins and mods. Well done. Simon
  5. Hi Fallow. Either a .22 or .177 calibre air rifle will do the job of a hunting arm for small game and vermin. If you are a slightly built girl, have a look at an Air Arms S200 pre-charged pneumatic rifle. This is a small, compact and very accurate rifle. You'll need a riflescope, scope mounts and a seperate divers bottle full of air and a hose line to charge its cylinder. Similarly, an Air Arms S410 rifle may be a good investment. Or there are spring air rifles but these are a degree heavier but not so much. One of the very best you could try is a Weihrauch HW95 break-barrel rifle. Googl
  6. So why not lay it on your rifleslip moley? Consider your fieldcraft. There you are, all laid up nice and snug in your waterproof cammo when... out pops Mr Rabbit. You then move to take your rifle off the bipod...you move to get that out of the way...you move the rifle to your shoulder....He's gone! £7.50 to give your position away. Too many movements mate. They'll spot you easy and probably hear some sound of clicks when you uncouple the rifle from the pod. You might think you didn't make a sound but, the rabbit has brilliant accoustic high frequency sound detection in it's
  7. Matt God bless you lad, spoken like a true Englishman. And that's what I would fight and die with my last drop of blood to defend as a principle. And if the enemy of that ideal is a rabid Islamic fundamentalist who claims to be as British as me, well, he bloody well isn't and he's bloody well getting his arse slapped!
  8. I much prefered my beloved 7.62mm that filled up graveyards where the enemy cannot return to kill any of us after a spell in hospital, but I was of a different generation and tactical thinking back then. As for the anti 5th column stance...Goddamm right! Our oath and our values are not diminished by a bunch of politically correct arseholes in Downing street. Who else can this nation look to in such a time of crisis?
  9. Aye, the Britain we have today is not the Britain I served and fought for. If you got this kind of baby-killer crap from UK residents, then they are enemy sympathisers who should be bloody deported back to the shitholes they ran from, screaming for asylum here. I'm bloody sick of the foreign benefit-scrounging b*****ds using our freedoms to attack our soldiers.
  10. I agree with Andy's model. Technical and Revue Section should remain seperately, there's often some good help, tips, rifle and scope revues and advice on there. "General Airgun Discussion" where members may freely discuss a wider spectrum of air rifle and pistol topics, anecdotes, opinions and so on, should remain. This section, "Airgunners spring and Precharged" is the most confusingly titled. The title is too general sounding and invites posts and threads of a general nature, despite having an intruction for true purpose tagged above. It should be renamed Airgun Hunting. Spring
  11. As you are known here as hw97K, would this be the make/model of your new rifle by any chance; Weihrauch HW97K? And what calibre? ATB Simon
  12. If I were you, I'd use Bushnell or Simmons Whitetail scopes for your 17HMR rifle. You won't go wrong with these.
  13. I'm pretty sure that if you talk reasonably to your gunsmith first and arrange with him to take the unlicensed rifle to his premises for returning to legal limits, he would do it without getting his knickers in a twist and confiscating the rifle for the police. If however, he says that's what he'll do if you approach him, he's a bloody waste of business and not to be bothered with in future. Common sense and reason or pedantic application of the law. Years ago, before I had an FAC, I had an Original 45 .22 air rifle confiscated by an RFD who used the law to confiscate my rifle, de
  14. Hi Ryan. Well done for attempting an extreme air rifle range target shoot. Now that you have shown that you can happily "reach" the target at 100 yards, why not zero your rifle and scope and go for best precision that you can with the tightest groups you can hit? That would be something else. And place your camera close to the target so we can see the pellet impacts! Again, well done! Simon
  15. Well we won't be bloody down forever and things will get better and then...I'm signing me and Josh up! So don't go binning the idea just yet Wurz mate. It's just not a good time to launch an enterprize like this for the time being. But things will recover! Simon
  16. Jesus Rake Aboot lad that was a bloody close call. But I'm so pleased to hear you are going to be well. A dram? I'd be glugging the whole bottle with news like that. Si I'm so sorry your father John was not so fortunate. God rest his dear soul. My Jo had a cancer tumour removed with half of her left Kidney the year before last and we've been living with watching and waiting ever since for the day when she is pronounced fully cured and recovered. Last week I attended the funeral of a beautiful woman and old girlfriend of mine who died after breast cancer had robbed her of her physical b
  17. I must say I haven't seen anything to take exception to here. Si is indeed a remarkable shot and a thoroughly nice guy. He posts no-bollocks, straight to the point honest answers to queries and his films back up his knowledge. If I was a novice shooter looking for reliable guidance I'd have probably approached him the same way. Well done Si. Enjoy a bit of limelight mate. Simon
  18. That is truly astonishing 007. How did the good lady accomplish that? Somehow, I believe that could only happen to you
  19. Remember them?!! My dear fellow I still have a .22 pellet lodged in my left cheek that was fired, over 40 years ago, by a Relum Tornado in the hands of my idiot cousin. I just thank God they were nothing like as powerful as sub 12ft/lb rifles and ammo are today. Simon
  20. Does anyone here remember a chap called Barry Dagger? He was Britain's 3 times Gold Medal winning pistol shot among other shooting events. His achievements and those of our best competetive shooters are largely unknown thanks to the almost Medieval fear and ignorance that pervades this nation on the subject of firearms and the consequent reluctance by the BBC to broadcast shooting events. They'd rather show silly buggers running in circles!
  21. Hi Keymac! WEIHRAUCH HW80 Standard rifle FAC .22. Amazing power and incredible accuracy from the best break-barrel spring air rifle on the planet. Don't think so? You haven't shot with THIS HW80! WEIHRAUCH HW80K FAC .22 carbine. As above. I restored this rifle to pristine condition and it's a devastating rat, squirrel and rabbit killer. WEIHRAUCH HW77 .22 Standard rifle. The finest all-round spring underlever air rifle there is. As accurate and easy to shoot as a .177 rifle. HW97 is a slightly modified and reshaped HW77. I love her to bits. AIR ARMS TX200HC. .177. My All-Weather, all
  22. A fellow called rabbit.slayer. no.1 Posted a thread about his new gun. Alas and alack, his thread will come back, And be moved to the technical section, where proper dissection, Will provide the right answers, right back! (Howzat!!) There goes Rhyming Simon....
  23. Two teenagers have just been arrested for it.... Well, well well. Who'd have thought that! Next thing you'll hear is a wet-behind-the-ears junior minister announce; "We will look harder at the way airguns are obtained and held in this country and we will explore every avenue of regulation open to us" That's when you'll know what's coming lads!,,,,,,,,,,Start saving for a steel gun cabinet! Simon
  24. Hi Nick and welcome to the section. Good to see you have some quality spring rifles in your collection Simon
  25. Hi Wurz. It sounds absolutely wonderful mate A year ago I would be going but, with all that's going on with this nations economy and folk's jobs in question, it's going to be a tough one to sell. I can't afford it right now and £450 alone would get me a top end Bushnell scope or a .177 HW77 to pair with my .22 rifle. As it is, keeping my family fed and watered under a roof is a daily concern. So, unless lady luck smiles on my lottery ticket... Sorry pal. Simon
