  1. White Spirit and cotton wool, soft cloth or kitchen towel. Apply spirit neat to sticky area with a small paintbrush till it softens and melts the adhesive residue and wipe clean with soft cloth etc. Re-oil as good as new. Simon
  2. Heyyyy what can I say moley! You flatter me very much but, what I write is what I know works from some well proven principles..or not, as the case may be. Glad it's worked for you mate. Now, go do it again. In the brain next time. looks like you hit it in the cheek under the eye. Poor bugger's fought it's last battle though alright. Well done moley Simon
  3. Well shot Saluki mate. As long as you have a reliable, accurate springer, you'll never be without a rifle to shoot with.
  4. Weihrauch HW80. HW77. HW95. Air Arms Prosport, TX200. TX200HC. No bullshit, no bollocks. Spring rifle perfection, whatever calibre; .177 or .22. Hatsans...yeah, right Like comparing a fecking 1970s Honda Civic to a Mercedes AMG or ASTON MARTIN.
  5. Are we gonna get one in the bag this time honey, no Dyke shit?!
  6. A sub 12-ft/lb .22 rifle will lob a .22 pellet out to an average 415 metres Best Trajectory Range. It will retain enough energy to kill a rabbit at over 330. Take a THOROUGH and I mean THOROUGH understanding of the principles of Marksmanship. A thorough understanding of your rifle's handling. A thorough knowledge of the trajectory characteristics of your pellet, including it's performance in all air conditions. And you will hit a rabbit dead through the head at 200 yards and over. Most here will not have the ability or even the capability. It's a matter of the lung capaci
  7. Sounds like a right day! Well shot lads, any pics?
  8. Blimey Davy that sounds quick work! Are you moving up here or what?
  9. Nice shot at last Moley, you got a decent kill at reasonable range. It's only taken you near half a dozen rifles and scopes but, seems you've found one rig that works Ken?!!! (I worry for you mate, I really do!) So, will the BSA R10 you are now looking at, be called Barbie? Or do you have her already? ATB Simon
  10. In that case you need a lamp with colour filters and a good, low-light efficient scope. Around 3-9x50 spec. Bushnell Banner is a beauty for not a lot of cash.
  11. Anyone know of any bargain basement Infra Red/Green Night Vision scopes folks?
  12. Hi Davy. Thanks mate. Depending where exactly you would be based, York city centre is about 30-35 miles north east of here by the A1 and A63; about an hour's steady run. Bring your rifle kit up with you mate and you can joins us. My permission lies just off the A1 so, no problems for a lad with a vehicle! Poachers. Alas you could well be right. I doubt we have fewer rabbits born here than anywhere else by natural process and the signs of rabbit activity would suggest there are hundreds along the land. I'm no expert on hunting dogs and ferreting but, I understand that a couple of fellas wi
  13. Never mind Mark old lad. That's how it goes sometimes. At least getting out and about and showing the landowner you are taking your shooting and his livestock's welfare seriously is good for working relations with him; and you'll never know till you go as to how the day turns out. Could be good, could be shit; but never a waste of time. Spa from me for your enthusiasm and a big AWWWW for the little fellows in the pic! ATB mate Simon PS> What about baiting the blackwinged buggers with a shot rabbit? Bet you'll bag a few magpies if nothing else!
  14. I swear by H&N FIELD TARGET TROPHY in my .22 Weihrauch spring rifles. I'd be surprised to learn they were not so hot in an HW100 .177 pcp. Edit to add. What about RWS SUPERDOMES too? Simon
  15. Im so glad i quietly get on practicing, perfecting and dont post about my hunting or shooting .......... Buster Now Craig lad, you KNOW that's not what I meant...
  16. Cheers for the write up Andy . You up for this weekend? Thanks for getting these pics posted for us Steve The first pic showing the trees and grassy, ferny slopes near the top edge to the field is a terrific rabbit spot when the barley crops are ripe. I'm surprised you didn't get a few bagged here mate. We should be seeing more than we have done lately. I'm going to have a snipe from the paddock. And I need to know where these guys you came upon set up their nets, ferrets and dogs. No point staking out a cleaned-out warren. I had a run over on Monday and saw Ian. He says he g
  17. Thank you Mr Fry sir! It does go hot and cold from time to time but, that's part and parcel of this sport. But just to be out with your rifle in beautiful countryside, fresh air and the hope or chance of a shot for the bag; that's worth living for! Simon
  18. It's all horses for courses as someone has pointed out before now but, if all you shoot is a PCP it's a shame as, you are missing out on some thoroughly rewarding shooting that a spring rifle or Gas Ram rifle offers. But anyone who thinks that PCPs are better and more accurate is way off the true story. I really wouldn't take a PCP over one of my spring rifles for anything. And before anyone jumps up; I've done a hell of a lot of PCP shooting in my time. I found them OK at best, nothing to write home about that a well sorted HW or Air Arms spring rifle cannot perform; to downright bloody a
  19. Was it really not good Chas? I thought it would be something great but, I was busy at work that weekend. Well done on your good fortune Base jumper!
  20. Matt. Which is it to be? Get your head bashed in by some smackhead desperate for cash and wait for the beleagured police to deal with your assault AFTER it has taken place. OR Beat his arse so badly, the very thought of doing it again fills him with dread of risk and stops him? I understand and agree with your principles mate, I really do. But, from what I've seen of the levels of violence meted out by criminals to just ordinary, peaceable people, no! These swines are not playing by the same rules we are. Simon
  21. Why set up a thread poll like this? Marksmanship has nothing to do with the rifle's action. It's all down to the human factor managing and guiding it all. A 10-shot pellet string, shot through a penny sized hole at 50-70 yards is the reward of good, correct shooting technique, regardless of whether it was shot from a Spring, Gas Ram, PCP or Co2 action rifle. If the rifle, scope and pellet you have is not up to this task, but you know you are; it's time to ditch the junk kit for something better and befitting your skills to allow for your expansion. Real men quietly get on prac
  22. Large Paving Slab "Box". Take four paving slabs. Stand three vertically and secure into a three-walled box by hammering down 2 pairs of iron spikes per slab to act as firmly anchored, supporting guides and slide the slab in between the spikes. so it stands firm as a wall. Fill with sand or earth as a sloping earth-damper. Add the fourth slab as a roof and Voila! You have a backstop that will safely halt any air rifle pellet regardless of power. Safest thing you can get. Simon.
  23. Great rifle. I think that's the Mk.1 HW97 stock on the Mk2 action. I wouldn't take the HW97 over my HW77 .22 but it's one I would like to add to my collection. Simon
  24. Well done mate i would have done the same because the police are fuxxing crap No they are not laddie! The police have become hamstrung by the arseholes we un-elect to Govern us; as politics have become over the last decade. Life today is not about service and good manners and common decency. It's about ballancing accounts with the bottom dollar right across the board. As a consequence, we are witnessing the onslaught of a generation of pissed-up, doped-up, ill-educated savages with no moral compass other than given "Role Models" composed of "celebreties" with the intellects of morons the
  25. All great pellet suggestions but, for a pcp, what about giving Bisley Magnums a go? Often heard how good these are in PCP rifles and a tough pellet, similarly like the H&N Barracuda. If Barracudas don't work out, these probably will. But, if you have a tin of Air Arms ammo this much badly deformed, I'd take em back to the shop! The 4.51 Fields are fantastic for my TX200HC. ATB Simon
