At 14 months old you cant really tell if its no good mate. If i were closer i would be tempted to give it a chance.
-
Thankyou timid toad. Iv been looking on various greyhound websites and pups dont seem to be available. Iv seen a few adverts for pups but when i look there always 12 - 24 months and i dont class that as a pup! Lol! Like you i would want a "proper" pup, one from 6 - 8 weeks old and preferably from coursing lines if you or anyone knows of a website where the word pup MEANS pup?
-
You might want to remove part of that post mate. The pikeys that got chased off could be reading it! Lol! And might well want their ferret back and might well take your at the same time. Yes they should get on and what you described isnt fighting.
-
Avoid all muzzles mate. If the ferret comes across a rat it wont be able to defend itself. If heaven forbit you lose the ferret it wont be able to feed itself. If it comes across a stubborn rabbit it will take a lot longer to shift it. If it finds a nest of kits it aint going to leave them till theyre dead anyway and it will kill um a lot quicker (more humanely) if it can use its teeth. Edited to say you shouldnt be ferreting if you know there are kits about anyway.

How much? Where are you based? And got any pics?
-
Cheers Bill! Iv dug my spanner set out and its workin fine now. Not looking forward to having to undo it again tho! Lol!

As above. Just got myself a new scorpion and 3 litre bottle. I dont think it needs charging but tried anyway so i know how to do it. What iv found is that it leaks air from the metal part of the hose where the adapter screws in. Not the screw itself but the short metal part of the hose. Am i doing something wrong or is it fooked?

Everybodys got a different opinion on what lamp but for me its a clusion (lazerlight) wired straight through to a motorbike battery. If your going to do the same just make sure you wire a fuse in somewhere along the line to avoid problems. I HAVE recently ordered a blazerlight (2 million candles instead of 1 million) reflector and bulb that im going to give a whirl and a blue filter and a green filter, iv already got a red filter. The thing with filters is they cut the beam down which is why i ordered the 2 mill convertion.

What to do when a dog cant keep anything down ?
DogMagic replied to Lloyd90's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Ignore these pricks for starters! Get to vets asap and if they fob you off DEMAND an xray. If its a blockage an xray should show it up. As has been said, if the dog cant even keep water down DEMAND a drip. -
Moletrapper iv done that mate, nothing in the dales unfortunately. Its to hard to find a smallholding so im thinking just a detached cottage if i can find someone who wont want 6 months rent up front!

Advice needed? Ok, dont put your ferret to rats! Use a smoker. Rats DO fight back. Not all of them but a lot do and it only takes one. Their savage c**ts too. Do your ferret a favour and leave it in its cage.
-
Im sure he was telling the truth mate. Everyones different. I give mine rabbit all the time. When i look in the cage its almost gone i defrost another one and chuck it in the cage next morning. I sometimes give them fish as a treat or butchers offcuts if i forget to get a rabbit out for them. They have had dry food in the past too. Theres plenty of people out there who feed nothing but dry. Personally i think a ferret is meant to eat whole carcasses so that what i give them.

The fleas leave a rabbit once its dead mate. Just leave it on the ground for a while and they will all be gone when you pick it up.

please can I come and shoot you????
DogMagic replied to hollie.vincent87's topic in Ferrets & Ferreting
Hi Hollie, When do you need these pictures by? The trouble your going to have is that most seasons have ended now. Any ferreter deserving of the name wont be ferreting now due to the risk of killing baby rabbits. I must say i think it is a great idea and come next season (if youve got that long) i for one would love to get some pics while im out and about. Iv got some wonderfull images from my ferreting and lamping exploits burned into my memory that i wish i could have a "hard" copy of. Rabbits bolting from buries and midair catches by my lurchers, rabbits sitting tight with the lamp on them -
Your thoughts on bedlington whippets?
DogMagic replied to Jdakin95's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Prick -
I agree with moll. They open up out of frustration cos they cant catch the rabbits. If you keep running him on rabbits he cant catch he will open up everytime you slip him soon regardless how easy or hard they are. The seasons over now anyway, just walk him untill next season. Maybe give him the odd half grown rabbit thats strayed to far from home on a windy, rainy night but dont work him now till next season and then let him have a few easy catches by netting up a warren and ferreting it.

and people wonder why lurcher men get a bad name
DogMagic replied to lloyd-holmes's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
I agree he is a first class prick. Lets all phone him up day and night and tell him what we think of him? -
There was someone on here a few weeks ago whos dog hit a ditch badly and had a fit and f****d its back up. Last i heard it was on the mend. Cant remember who it was now. Would be interested to hear how it is. Dennned from what you say it sounds promising mate, i hope the pup gets better. There tough little sods.

His numbers not on the site is it? I couldnt see it anyway. But if i ring and ask any breeder what their dogs are like they will say "oh there brilliant mate, get one", no breeder would say "there shit but have one anyway cos i want to sell um". Thats why im askin on here for people who have actually got or had one. Nigel is only one option anyway. Another is mallyfield. As i say im toying with the idea of getting a workin whippet. Havent decided where from yet though.
