  1. Yes it would be good to get a second one. Although it does depend on how big the warrens are that your going to be working. If their massive then 2 ferrets wont be enough. Up to 10 holes is ok for 1 ferret. Any more than 10 and you need a second ferret. I often work warrens where i need to go with a mate cos iv not got enough ferrets! Lol! 1 rabbit will last 2 ferrets 2 days so every 2 days chuck another rabbit in the cage. This way you cant help to feed them before working them. Feeding them before working them means its less likely they will lay up (kill, eat then have a kip). If they d
  2. Same as that, give what nature intended it to eat and bung a rabbit in the cage for it.

  7. Do as you did, put the long net up around the whole warren then put the 20 purse nets out as well. Distrubute then evenly around the the warren just at random. The idea being that if they dont come out of a netted hole they will hopefully go down one and get backnetted.

  9. And how do you know if its going to be a short easy run? Do you make the rabbit promise it wont run to hard before you slip the pup? Enter her right mate and you will have a dog you can be proud of for years to come. Do it wrong and you will f**k her up for life and then she will be passed from piller to post for life. If you want her to get some experience take her ferreting. When a rabbit hits the net let go of her coller and whisper "go on girl". She will probably play about, lunge forward then jump back etc etc. Make sure you are ready for this and get to the rabbit quick enough
  10. The way i do it is to grip the rabbit high up on its shoulders so that the bridge of my hand is at the base of the neck in my right hand (im left handed) and then in one quick, sharp movement put my left palm under its chin and push its head backwards. You should hear the neck breaking. Untill youve got the hang of it, i would advise you to touch the rabbits eye afterwards. If it blinks it aint dead yet so dont drop it! Lol!
  11. I saw a blokes hand cut in half across the knuckles by a chainsaw once. That was interesting! We had just finished cutting up a fallen tree into logs. There was brambles grown up around it and one fella was picking up the logs putting them in the truck and the other fella was sweeping the chainsaw back n forth sideways clearing the brambles. And dopey sticks his hand in the way trying to grab another log! And some twat asked him if he was ok! Lol!

  16. My last pair was Le chameau, they died eventually after 3 years of not much use and then 4 years of hard graft kicking there way through waist high heather 3 hours every day. Things were tight when time came to replace them and i now have a pair of seelands which are tough, comfortable and warm.
  17. is it bad that i dont work my other ferret now that this one is unbeatable cause i dont want to take the collar off him when he works that well!? Its not bad mate but it would be good to give the other one a chance to prove himself. Also having one above ground is handy if the one below ground seems to be on a kill. Put another down and very often they will come out together 5 minutes later. any idea's on how to stop there water freezing over? i have to refill there water cause it freezes over every 2 hours or so! any tips? If youve got a shed put the cage inside it. Also have lots of wat
  18. Essex girl in car crash says "i think i have concussion" paramedic asks "how many fingers have i got up?" the girl replies "oh god, my fanny's paralysed too!"
  19. If its a mink you can kill it, either by shooting or trapping or by cage trapping then shooting it. I remember i was asked to deal with badgers once and as they are protected i called what was then defra and was told the customer can apply for a tempory licence to interfear with them in order to alleaviate damage. There were three stages of licence, 1) put a trap door over their sets so that once out they cant go back in and hence they f**k off, 2) trap and release somewhere else, 3) shoot. So first of all establish for certain if its a mink or a otter. If its an otter get on the phone.
  20. How much you asking?! Lol! I wont be wanting the terrier collor tho.
