    I would definately be looking for a way of cooling the thing down in the summer. Its made out of metel, with the sun beating down on it the ferrets will bake in no time. Yes light important but temperature is too. As has been said, you could cut the roof off and use mesh which would help with airflow. Plastic sheeting a few inches above the mesh would keep it rainproof and create light. I would also cut a few windows in the sides and mesh them over too. Once you have done this go and stand in it for an hour in the heat of the day and see how comfy it is and make more windows if you think its n

    There is a spot on treatment (simular to frontline for dogs and cats) made by a company called beaphar. It covers all parasites (worms, ticks, fleas etc) and is made specifically for rabbits, guinea pigs, ferrets and rats. It contains ivermectin as the active ingredient. I get mine from a pet store called jollyes but iv seen it on ebay before. Even if its not the problem its still worth doing 1 to rule it out and 2 to keep on top of the things.

    A jill will only kill her young if she doesnt trust you not to hurt them (if she sees you as a predator/threat rather than a friend) and even then she will warn you to stay away first with her body language. If she is constantly running in and out the nest when your about steer clear. Its all about bond, same as with dogs. Last litter i bred i went down the garden to see if she had dropped yet or not and as soon as i opened the cage door she grabed my hand and dragged it into the nest area to show me what she had done! If in any doubt at all though, stay well away.

    treat it like a lurcher and it will act like one i know what your saying mate but some people make out saluki x are stupid,so why would anyone work full saluki Thats a popular misconception. Salukis and saluki Xs are FAR from thick!! They are a lot more independant than most types and tend to do things their own way which can be frustrating for the owner but they are brilliant dogs in the right hands and as iv said they certainly aint daft!     Any raw meat. I see your an airgunner, shoot some squirrels and pigeons for it. Rabbits the natural diet but they love pigeons, squirrels and so on too. Dont bother with crows etc. I wouldnt feed rats to mine neither, filthy f*****g things! And feed whole, dont skin. Gut yes if you want to but leave the offal in.     Mate keep her seperate untill she is back to 100%. If she is off colour the others MIGHT pick on her and thats something she really could do without if she already fighting off an infection. Also its easier to monitor how much she is eating and drinking. A small cage might actually be a good thing short term.

    Hare coursing was included in the ban because bLiar called "fox hunting" "hunting with hounds" and then exempted rabbits and rats. But why include hare and not rabbit? Moll they didnt INCLUDE anything. They called it hunting with hounds, that means you cant hunt ANYTHING at all with a dog. Then they EXEMPTED rabbits and rats.

The fellas should get away with it and we should be cheering them on not slating them cos there travellers and were not! They were doing it not just for sport but to feed a family of 6 kids!     Get her seperated again mate. If its a virus you dont want her passing it on to her sister. Make sure she has water. As for feeding: try breaking an egg into a bowl for her to lap up, its better than nothing. Also try blending a bit of rabbit (especially the offal) into a paste and put that in a bowl for her.
