  1. No dog needs to be hit. If you hit a dog then the dog wont trust or like you and as has been said its recall goes right down hill and so does every other part of training. If the dog doesnt like you it wont want to please you and so it will ignore your commands and stay out the way so it doesnt get another clump etc etc. If they know what the command "come here" or "sit" or "leave it" means and they want to please you you will never need to hit a dog. The worse mine get is a hand around their chin to force eye contact and a stern voice making it clear im pissed off with them then back on
  2. Has the D E arrived yet mate? Hows it going?
  3. Would you be giving that advice if it was on your permission that his dog killed the sheep on? He obviously has not told the farmer that his dog has killed the lamb or offered to pay for it. So who is the farmer going to blame? Listen sonny, I have forgotton more about training dogs than you will ever learn. The advice is good because as sure as eggs are aggs that dog will kill again. Just read what he has to say when told that he should have put the dog on the lead after the first time it chased them. If you knew that much you wouldnt be openly advising him to shoot his dog you th
  4. And here are todays selection of retarded c**ts! How can anybody be so f*****g idiotic?! Shoot a dog for one mistake. Sensible people have given good advice on this thread mate, just ignore this couple of spastics.
  5. Oh im sika this, its a magic mushroom init?! Lol!
  6. I dont think you did anything wrong mate, you were just unlucky. Do you even know where they came from? Weve all bought straw for our ferrets nesting and weve all chucked a woody in for them to eat. The neighbours could keep chickens, pigeons etc. Red mite can come from any of those sources and others. The good thing is you spotted it youve done something about it.

  8. Google dietomacious earth mate and get some of it. Its kills insects by desication (dryes them out), so no active ingredients or chemicals. Its just a fine powder. It wont hurt thr kits. Puff some into the cage and nest box but not directly onto the kits and afterwards keep the cage dry.
  9. If youve got rabbits to hand, gut them, cut them in half and chuck half in at a time. Freeze the other half (not the wife! Lol!) Cat food is shit to a ferret, get proper ferret food. Its only 15 quid for 20 kilos and that will last ages. Rabbits, wood pigions, squirrels and all sorts of stuff you can take with an airifle are all good grub for a ferret. All i do with a woody (or any bird) is kill it and chuck it in. Same with squirrels. Big stuff like geese etc i would gut and joint up.
  10. I wouldnt want to start from scratch. If you mate a pure grey to a pure collie for example you will get some that throw to the grey and some that throw to the collie. The ones that throw to the grey will be worth a look. Some make it and most wont. If your VERY lucky the one you picked will be the one that does make it. Others will throw to the collie and not be something i would want other than to further x with, perhaps to a pure. Line breeding is a much better bet in my opinion. You take a dog that is doing the business and a bitch that is doing the business and put them together. The
  11. Mate there foxes, they dont live on thin air. Even if theyve not touched your chickens yet thats not to say they never will, especially when the vixen has 5 or 6 hungry mouths begging for grub. And i guarantee there killing SOMEBODYS chickins, racing pigions, a kids pet rabbits etc etc. I would stick the patt down there without thinking twice.
  12. I would be prepared to £150 just for the dog mate! Ferrets go for £10 each so thats another £90. Cage i cant put a price on without knowing more. Nets £1 each. If i could have the lot for £150 i would bite there fookin hand off for it! Lol!
  13. Btw raw meat is the ONLY thing i would be feeding her contrary to others opinions. And i certainly wouldnt be giving her or the kits milk neither. However i give it as half rabbits so its a nice big chunk rather than say mince. Yes they do drag it into the nest but you should be checking on the kits everyday anyway while the jill is busy elsewhere so it can be removed and replaced.
  14. what the least they can have Without having none at all i reckon the least would be 1.
  15. My jill had a litter of 8 on thursday. Thats a good size. Last year a jill belonging to a mate of mine had 16! Thats to many.
  16. Mate sheets are ok, not ideal but there ok and in any case its to late now to be worrying about it. If you disturb her now (by destroying the nest and replacing it) she will kill the kits. Its not so bad anyway so stop worrying. As for cleaning the hutch out i wouldnt bother. Use a scraper to get the shit and piss soaked wood shavings out and replace them with fresh, she wont mind that. Just leave the nest alone.
  17. She went to sniff them to make sure there ok, her kits are a VERY big thing in her life right now and she was apart from them for a while so when she got back she went to make sure they were ok, when she sniffed them there was no strange scents on them (because you didnt touch them did you) so she will have no reason to kill them, she will be happily letting them suckle instead.
  18. A cut pad is a b*****d for opening up again mate! Salt water to clean it then purple spray. Superglue to keep it closed but be carefull of sticking toes to each other. Once the glues set wrap a bandage round it. Forget the hydrogen peroxide, i only use that on a fresh cut cos it will just undo any healing thats already taken place. Dont exercise him now for at least a week, you need to give the pad a chance to heal or it will just keep opening up. Garden for a crap 3 times a day is all he needs for a week.
  19. Brilliant stuff mate! I like the squeekers for teaching pups the game. More chance of success and the dogs always over the moon about it especially with some praise.
  20. Depends on the cut really mate. A small, shallow cut would be ok with a salt water bath 3 times a day. Hydrogen peroxide poured over a cut kills off any infection. Purple spray is good stuff, so is cut n heal spray, paste or powder. Superglue is good for keeping wounds closed long enough for the healing process to begin. What sort of cut? How deep is it? Where is it? How did it happen?
  21. every time someone puts a post on with a problem with their dog your answer is a bullet, now someone has a problem with a ferret and your answer is to cosh it......what a first class cock! You must have a garden full of buried animals that had potential but was killed because you didn't have the care or respect for your animals to sort out minor problems or issues. Rob youve got him all wrong mate. He isnt a cock at all, hese a c**t! Lol! sorry, my mistake Not your fault rob, its an easy one to make! Lol!
  22. I had a black one ferreting this year. Iv had loads with a little white dot on their forehead or chest too.
