  1. That day will never come, sir, they remain unweaned for life, Roll in hot, raid the food stocks, clean out the fridge and bolt, no contact unless they require a loan that never gets repaid, I should have cut my man sacks with a broken beer bottle years ago, and saved my pain.
  2. The NZ lotto has to be won this Saturday night, a cool 50 million, one single person doesn't need that amount, be better if it was 5 million for 10 people. If I win the lot I'm going to fly over in my private jet and join the toffs club shooting pheasants ,all decked out in tweed sipping G & Ts.
  3. Wow, I don't think I've seen a whippet that colour before, luckee legs, it's a very striking looking dog and in tip-top condition might I add.
  4. I must admit, to still having about 22 or is it 23 dogs , oh who cares. I've cut back over the last 18 months, my Mrs "the Boss"had me agree to no more new dogs arriving, and it makes good sense. It takes a good chunk of the day to feed and excise them all. If I have to pick up the waste from the butchers, add in another 3 hours to sort it all into types like pure, meat, small bones, large bones and waste fat along with anything that's not suitable such as bacon trim. I thought I'd have the dogs out hunting a lot more than I have since I stopped full-time work last Xmas. I feel guilty, It's no
  5. That's very true but strangely very funny Dinosaurs!
  6. Bad knees are the pits, both mine were replaced last year, and I'm pain free in that respect. I'm now 67 years old and had a keyhole operation 8 years ago. At that time, the Doctor reported that he had to remove a lot more of the feathering along the edge of the damaged cartage, that stops any more damage, however it means what is left will spread out thinner in the joint speeding up the wear and tear process. Back then, when I went under the knife, I asked the Doctor if it was ok to go pig hunting the very next day. He told while I couldn't undo his repair, the knee might swell up tight. So o
  7. Good for you ,talking the talk and walking the talk, the real deal sir or is it miss?.
  8. Europe Boar has been released into the wilds of New Zealand for a number of years now, it's all kept very quiet. Their off spring have lighter strips that change's as they grow, once they are full size they have the colour of the Europe wild boar.Don't worry about those show ponies in the hunting videos, the real men /hunters don't have time to feck about putting makeup on, making themselves all pretty and filming, they are busy getting the job done, not talking themselves up with a load woffal. Aussie has a huge number of the number of pigs, many more than we have in NZ, it's the M
  9. I do believe that is very true, Often I would get a call about a single rabbit, camped up handy to somebodies garden, that they wanted to be removed. In that case, I'd only drop out the one dog, a Jack Russell x springer who was a great rounder. Once in heavy cover, if he pushed the rabbit, he would bounce up in the air with all four legs folded up like an airliner. Happy had been used one out for many years, off and on, even though he wasn't a very fast dog, he made up for it with his bag of tricks. One that springs to mind was his habit of pushing a rabbit hiding in cover forward, then retre
  10. Plenty of bone for that pup to grow into Leelaw 94
  11. Wow, that spaniel got a decent set of dusters, looks like they have had the bracken fern treatment!
  12. I bet if he decided late at night if you were sneaking about where you had no right to be, 5 seconds after he grabbed you, then began tossing your body around like a wee rag doll, you would know you had made a very big mistake, one that would not end well. There would be no escape from that demon of a dog. Very tidy feet for a large, heavy breed.
  13. It breaks my heart to see hunting with dogs to be labled unhealthy, sick, bloodthirsty, a crime in the making, when not that long ago it was viewed very differently. The act of keeping hunting dogs was a way of life, not only did the result of a hunt feed families in very tough time's, it was a shared passion. Country folk came together at fairs and local working dog shows, it was the very reason, all sat side time to go, to catch up with others in the sport. Hunting with dogs was in their DNA, it fed the working man's soul, it was an important part of country life, woven into the very fabric
  14. I bet you thought all your Xmas had come at once, when you got that book as a 12-year-old Tatsblister , advents at that age have a profound effect on young minds, and can shape our interests in later life.
  15. And you forgot the important bit, they must be two sizes small
  16. Weel I have seen it with me own one good eye,it was driving a golf cart, pulling a loaded up trailer, full of game, including a couple of himalain mice, and it was souped up of course, me dear old one legged hunch backed mum saw it too. The damn thing as wearing a bower hat at the time. The share sight, made me down a few more magic mushrooms, Ive never bin the same since.....
  17. On some of those points, I'd have to agree, so I've adjusted my quote post.
  18. I've never owned a Dogo nor have I seen one working in the field, however I do know hunters that have, and it seems a common finding, that even with a first cross you get a dog that is very driven and one that's keen to hold one out on any boar day in and day out. Some more interesting facts, they are a breed that's quite resent, and unlike so many breeds we have today, the dogo is one that can be traced back to the two brothers who included ten different breeds to finally arrive at the dog we now know as the Argentine Dogo. The brothers wanted to include the word Argentine in the title t
  19. Yes, he did. The breed is on the dangerous breed list here in NZ which means none can be imported, what I'm not sure on is, if semen can be brought into the country .
  20. Some pig hunter's here in NZ, use or have used Dogo's within their packs. It's fair to say that even a little Dogo goes a long way in breeding dogs to hunt wild boar,50% would still give a dog that behaved like a land shark and wanted to knuckle even the biggest of boars. I did a lot of research on the breed when I was writing a column for a hunting magazine and I found out that, in fact, it was two young brothers, still at school at the time collected a good number of bitches, that were kept on several farms, to start breeding the foundation of this breed. So it's still a relatively young bre
  21. I can't understand why that wouldn't have worked?
  22. Granted I wouldn't either, however fresh fish in my part of the world,(New Zealand) is expensive, strange when our country is three main islands, it should be cheap as chips, so I don't pass on fresh perch or flat flounder I catch my self. Trout doesn't interest me as an eating fish, most take on an earthy taste that doesn't suit my pallet.
  23. I love to target big perch, they one of my favourite fish .,great to catch and even better to eat
  24. In the deep south,of New zealand .
