  1. I was enlightened by a New Age traveller from Totnes many moons ago now. Always happy to pass on the power of nature.
  2. “Rewilding the psyche” it really is a thing.
  3. Can you post any pictures of her Shortstraw, curious of what the cross looks like.
  4. That’s what I’m thinking , be ideal for a walk out on the moor. Also be good as a running partner. Alfs not interested in running unless behind a rabbit and even then he’s not that fussed, he’d rather just stand and mark them.
  5. That was going to be my next question. The fly ball bred ones seem a bit manic but I guess a lot depends on how it’s raised. I would more than likely go farm bred which living in Devon there’s usually a few about.
  6. That Collie sounds the exact opposite to my Lurcher.
  7. Yes I know what you mean, the Lurchers I’ve had tended to sleep most of the day until you put your boots on then it’s like a switch has been flipped. Not sure a full Border Collie has an off switch.
  8. Their intelligence could cause me a few issues to be honest.
  9. Seriously thinking about one in the New Year. I don’t ferret or lamp anymore so want something for hunting up rabbits and generally mooching about the moor.
  10. Anyone working a full Border Collie for bushing rabbits. If so how useful are they to have around?
  11. I agree we seem to be going full circle regarding working lurchers. Staying under the radar and just having a bit of a walk about is the way forward ,for me anyways. I enjoy watching dogs hunt and being out and about in the Countryside. It’s rewilding of the psyche, good for mind and body.
  12. Probably to busy working them than posting on here.
  13. Good luck with your search, sounds an ideal cross imo anyway.
  14. GWPS were bred to dispatch wounded shot foxes. A friend of mine had one he used for tracking deer and for rough shooting and as you say it was definitely a no nonesense dog but also had a great temperament.
  15. Have a look on YouTube, if you do decide to try it build up the time slowly. It can also help with the retrieve.
  16. Just curious but what are the lines to be looking out for in a Teckel. I saw a couple whilst watching Hounds and they didn’t have the same conformation as the pictures on this thread. The Teckels in these pictures look so much more fit for purpose.
  17. Nice looking dog, not a cross you see much of. How’s he working out for you?
  18. There are quite a few people breeding dogs to make a fast buck that’s why there are lots of dogs around as well. You only have to look on some of the selling sites, bitches for sale at 2 years of age with the sales pitch “good mother”. They have took a litter off the dog made some cash from the pups and now the bitch is surplus to requirements.
  19. It’s very difficult to believe any party to be fair.
  20. That’s true and if Labour get in expect a ban on Hunting, shooting and fishing.
  21. What sort of hedges are we discussing here? Some of the Devon banks around my area a Kangaroo would struggle with.
