its a very easy way to gut the rabbits mate, I used to stand there making a nice straight cut down the belly, sometimes catching the guts on the way down and stinking the place out, magwitch showed us the easy, less messy, no chance of splitting the gut way
-
so last week magwitch phoned me and kindly invited me to a days ferreting on his permission, he wanted to try out a couple of young hobs, so I popped over with a young jill and her mum who's a proven worker, we started at 9-30am and the first warren was under a clump of bushes/tree's, so just run a long net all around, entered all the ferts and waited, we got 6 from this warren and then made our way up the hill to another set of holes half way up, again long netted half and purse netted the rest, only 3 from here, although number 9 got away by jumping the net, best days ferreting for me, pat
-
Ive found if you want to work more than one at a time, make sure you get a good ferreting partner, twice Ive taken people that were all up for it, and was glad of the extra pair of eyes to keep a watch on bunnies hitting the net or emergine ferrets, but on telling them to grab a fleeing ferret, they wont pick them up in case they bite
-
looks like you had a great day, and some great action shots of the bunnies

quote;Sorry if its a daft question, i just dont wanna be locked up for been over the limit answer; so dont try a bigger spring, knowing it will go over the limit as stated, if its longer range you want or bigger quarry, then go the right way about it, and get FAC, trying to do the "I didnt know officer" is surely only going to fuel the anti gun mob/ anti hunt mob with more ammunition agaisnt all of us

get ya lad to let slip once in the new school, that you've just got outta jail for armed robbery/ etc, it'll go round the school like wildfire, make them think twice about coming your way, or touching him

thanks for all the advice guys, put my mind at rest over the scabs as well, on watching this morning they are trying it on like rabbits D.S thanks for your words mate, dont know if ill start collecting just yet, but always take your replies as being good advice, they should give you a section of your own, cos others like myself enjoy reading your advice/stories from the past

so, all my ferts live together in a court, one of the young hobs had scab like patch between his shoulder blades, so took him to a vets, who gave him an anti biotic injection and some anti biotic liquid for me to squirt down his mouth and some cream for the scab, she didnt seem to know naff all bout ferrets and was more worried of him biting her, which i assured her he would'ent, anyway stiffed me for £35 today ive noticed another of the young hobs with the same patch, so im thinking that maybe buster (the dad) is showing his dominance or play fights are turning a bit rougher, im not

cost is the main factor.... do the hob, leave jills intact, only 1 payment instead of 2 had our hob castrated, rather than the snip, cos have heard that sometimes the snip aint 100% so for the extra £'s castration seemed the better option, once the jills are in season, (6 off) I'll either pair them with an extra small hob outcross I have, or put them with the hoblet and go with the false pregnancy, would much rather this, than leave them in season all summer, have had a jill die many years ago due to being in season, and dont wanna see that again....

I met my other half on a "biker dating" site, we both had insect realated biker names (hornet & wasp) seemed only right to meet up, glad I did, she is a farmers daughter, yorkshire lass, who has no qualms with me hunting/shooting/keeping $hit loads of ferrets, buying a 4x4,working nights, watching porn, riding me bike, she's a cracker, and can cook!!!! been together 3yrs now, getting wed next year

i think its like a case of kill or cure, as you say its the pecking order, stick them in a run together and walk away, sometimes what we see as rough, probably aint to a ferret, if the younger one aint fighting back, then maybe he is giving in to the older, and again you need to let them get on with it do you want to keep them separated forever, or get them together all my hobs live together, ok its the dad (castrated now) and 2 kitts hobs that are nearly as big as him, plus an outsider, little nipper, slightly smaller, they all get on fine, and have there own pecking order, buster the

heres a "deer" joke for you moll guy driving home late one night, spots a road kill deer, so pops it in the boot and drives home to stick it in the freezer.. a few days later he's cooking it, when his little boy and girl walk in, and intrigued by the lovely smell, ask him what it is, ill tell you when we sit down and eat says the dad, not wanting to put them off by saying its bambi as they sit down to eat, the little girl asks again, so dad says ill give you a clue.....its what mummy calls daddy most mornings, with that the little girl spits it outta her mouth and shouts to

no mate, over here pest control covers all pests, mamals, insects etc, you can also do whats termed as "bird work" which is netting, spiking etc against pidgeons/gulls, thats well paid, we shoot with air rifles as its on london underground, anything bigger and you'd have "armed responce" on ya,lol
-
your best looking for a job in pest control where they foot the bill and send you on course, bpca etc plus a bit of in house training, most firms will expect you to have a full car license, good spoken and written gramma expect to start on a low salary while your training I wanted in, so left the construction sites earning 25,000 plus and started at the bottom in pest control earning 15,000 ive now been in it 18 months and am earning 26,000 a year, night shift sunday to thursdays, but still want more but ive also got certifications coming outta my ears, and they paid for it all

just look at it as one finder doing two jobs, the switch on the side is what most peeps f**k up on in search mode you have a 16ft radius to locate the area the collar is in, once found, flick the switch to locate, this then gives you 8ft radius in which to find the collar, at this stage, using the dial on the underside you can tune in the signal as you get closer to it, all the time your using it you also have the LED screen that will either light up or not, depending if your getting nearer, the dial is used like the SWR button on an old cb radio, cutting out unessessary interfearance and let

hi all, saw a device on the bay of e, but as i can lay my hands on unlimited sheet wire and wood, it seems silly paying for a trap that i could make "if i knew how" its 24"x24"x24" 1" square mesh with a wooden top/tunnel which as you know is buried with only the wood on show, i have permission next to a railway line/fence where the rabbits gain entry to the field, have done pest control in the past on the railway side, using about 50 live catch traps with great success but the cages got noticed by people using a right of way and of course the traps got vandalised using a drop trap
