  1. classic one Ditch, I was in tears half way through reading it
  2. if you do a search on old posts, you'll find lots of advice between the old mk1 and new mk3, you either love them, or hate them, I use the orange mk3 and have to say, I preferred paying the money for it as a new item, rather than the same sort of money for a mk1 plus buying a mk1, you pay your money, and take a chance, at least with mk3 they are new, as for using, great if the ferts is layed up with a kill, but trying to track a moving ferret, some people complain of problems,
  3. as your a new poster/member, I'll let it go this time, but your first post is FULL of text talk, if you read the rules it's not allowed, please use proper english in future posts
  4. thats a lot of water for a fert, better off getting a drinker, more space on floor, plus no foriegn objects can fall into it from above
  5. nice work there mate, so much better than being stuck in a hutch I would suggest putting the hammock a little lower though, sleepy ferts getting themselves out of that, could end up having a nasty drop, normally set mine around 8" from the floor
  6. you'll probably get loads of replies, but I've got a hob thats a sandy/beige colour, I'll stick a picture up later, not the smallest, but the offers there
  7. of course markieboi so here's a free bump
  8. only trouble with doing that scuzy, is your then leaving the head in place, a possible site for infection
  9. hobs will try mating with anything, including other hobs if kept together, mine all live in a court system, and regularly have sore necks from trying it out on each other , saves me having to have single hobs in single cages though
  10. of course you'll get a signal when pointing away, thats used in conjunction with the visual LED's and the pinpoint on the back,
  11. can sometimes happen when the collar transmitter isnt facing straight down mate . think you'll find the instructions tell you to put collar on, with transmitter on back of neck, not pointing down (as around throat) although thats where I fix mine the mk3 I think works at its best, when the collar/fert are laid up with a kill (not moving) and can search and locate fine, yet when trying to "track" a fert underground, is when it goes haywire
  12. very doubtful that she would have been in season in november, and if she was pregnant by that hob, you'd see it, as you'd have one very large bellied jill, the reason your hob grabbed her, is that he's ready, willing and able now, but as you have stated, she's not, its not a good idea to say "march" for your breeding plans, she will come into season when she's ready, and no, he cant breed with her, unless she's in heat, but he can and will go through the motions of necking her etc, better to keep them apart till its time, or she'll have a very sore neck
  13. maybe you should take the time to fill out your profile, and introduce yourself better, let us know what your into etc, may get a better response from members
  14. see your wrong there, its already an animal, we just use them the way god intended, dressing them up in clothes, only shows the mentality of the owner, we keep ferrets as pets, as well as workers, but we keep it real
  15. Thanks for that. Took the fert to the vets, checked for mites etc could not find a thing, still a watery discharge. Vets gave me drops and a £28 bill. I asked what it was an all I got was an ear infection. !!!! ask a silly question. I know the feeling I took a hob to the vets, as he had a scabby patch on back of neck, £25 later and fert was given an injection and some cream and told to come back week time, keep isolated etc. on getting home, posted on here, and had multiple replies, that it was where hobs were mounting hobs, randy gits, at a later visit to vets, tried tel
  16. you gonna need 2 cages at some point in time, in case you breed her with an unrelated hob, youll need to put your hob in another hutch, so get that sorted now, and get them split, before she comes into season, as for breeding bro/sis together, it can and has been done, but normally by people that have the history of the animals, tracing back the family tree so to speak, its a good way of doubling up on a good factor, small ferts for argument sake, but when done without knowledge, things can go wrong, as you can also double up on things you dont want or cant see, why waste all that time on br
  17. so tell me, how do you identify a flea with mixy compared to a normal rabbit flea did you open them up and check the livers?? mixy cannot be passed over to either animal or humans (only rabbits)
  18. shaggy, ya gotta get to the point of being confident with ya ferts, use this as a starter point and get in there
  19. bigbob has a point, my missus, washed/bathed our big hob, and he smelt fine for a few days, maybe a regular bath either in the court, or kitchen sink will do the trick... if not get rid of the wife, problem solved
  20. of course I would, and will.... 08/08/08 got married at 19, and divorced 16yrs later went through a succession of relationships, then met a yorkshire lass, living in essex, we have been together nigh on 3yrs, and yup, were getting hitched on the above date she's got no problem with the hunting scene, even comes shooting/ferreting, rides a motorbike like me too, and is great in bed what more could a guy ask for
  21. castration wont cure it, nowhere near the glands I have a castrated hob, that still stinks lovely I'd be harsh and say, if you cant stand the smell, stop keeping ferrets
  22. answer to above question; hold rabbit, belly up, place foot on front legs, pull belly skin tight, nick (small cut) at rib cage area, insert finger and pull down, this makes the hole you can see in the photo's, when gutting lots of rabbits, this is a very quick and easy method, one person cuts, the other, bends the rabbit back, and lobs the guts down a recently dug hole, and nope, they dont get dirty
  23. yeah, I used it to check out a parish field I had not seen, but wanted info on access for ferreting, as already stated its a few years old on the pictures
  24. had a quick look in the ailments section of a ferret book, the only "ear" related stuff is from mites, causing an infection in the middle ear, is he/she scratching the ear, or black specks visible as with any syptom, my only advice would be to get to the vets quick/ or PDSA if its just an infection/abcess, its still gonna need anti-biotics
  25. dont see why not, any meat cut thinnly will stir fry turn ya cap's lock off
