  1. I got the set of three dvd's for my birthday from my missus, a quick review of them; the pig farm; brilliant, fast action, lots of plummers, and even more rats, captures the excitment really well testing the smoker; thats the then new rat attack smoker, at the start of the day, most of them want to chuck it away, but by the end of the dvd, they are all praising it, they say, that with a chainsaw smoker, its a combination of fumes and niose that gets the rats bolting, but the rat attack gets them bolting 3 to 4 minutes after smoking the holes, purely of the smoke, 2 dogs, 1 pup
  2. silvers, that have gone through the moult a few times, can appear as black eyed whites, my two could easily be passed as that rather than silvers, so dont pay silly prices, when it may be something else, a ferret is a ferret, no matter what the colour
  3. great pictures as always pat, was out giving the missus a lift to the hairdressers, and on our return home, found a pile of bunnies thanks, I paniced a bit, as I knew there was'ent alot of space left in the freezer, knocked on quite a few doors, no-one eats rabbit anymore even offerd some to a couple of dog walkers for the dogs, the look I recieved so I set about re-arranging the freezer, Its amazing what can be done, when you dont want it going to waste, the dogs ate half of one each for their tea, thanks once again
  4. we went to a new permission in braintree last weekend, and one field was littered in old bottles along the hedgerows, bought a few home with me, you just jogged my memory, they are still in the motor
  5. a very good outline of your days events, maybe some new ferreters can learn from it, a locator would mean just one hole needing digging, and a second or third warren done,
  6. Im sure you'll find someone here offer him a good home, but he's definatly not to big to go down holes, Ive three ferrets that outsize him, that rabbit and love it, like alot of ferts, if they dont take to going down holes immeadeatly, they get taken less or not at all, and are classed as pets only, also being grabbed by the other hob, is natural, one has got to take the dominant role, Ive 7 hobs in a court, a mixture of intact, snipped and castrated, they all have their pecking order within the court, but the are all alive and well, or should I get rid of 6
  7. the land will still belong to someone, and therefore permission should be sort after, otherwise it could still be classed as poaching, poaching was at one time (the old days) permissable to a degree, as it was "one for the pot" but nowdays doing ferreting as a pastime, which can be enjoyed all day, should'ent be done, constantly looking over your shoulder
  8. if such a loving pet, why not get him castrated and keep him
  9. first time Ive looked in here, dont you just love "the old days" well done to all those old timers who never used a locator, but knew all about fieldcraft and would wait for the ferret, the reason you never used locators, I presume was, the wernt invented, or cost way too much money back then, we move with the times, years ago, you did'nt need a driving license, but could still be a good driver, so should we tell all these youngsters that a license is not needed, no, because TIMES HAVE CHANGED, wer've moved forward, ferreting is NOW a pastime, where as way back when, I doubt very much i

    LOGS

theres a place that sells logs at the city limits roundabout in epping
  11. Im honestly beginning to wonder, why the f*** your on this forum
  12. so, if an old man phones up your mum, and says he's an old retired gent from the internet, that wants to talk to you, but you dont know him, your mum will be happy with that I removed your numbers by the way
  13. christ, my first 50cc cost me £12 a year TPFT and my first 125cc £41 full comp, mind you, that was 28 ish yrs ago
  14. will, yet again you put the mouth first, before putting the brain in gear, first you say "if they are brought up nicely" then contradict yourself, saying "a tap on the head at birth" it can only be one or the other surely go back to the guys first post, asking "should he breed with a hob with overshot jaw, where you tell him to go for it, so he'll breed kitts that either show this defect, or could be carries of it, is this the "extraordinary ferrets" your on about , so then he can just knock them all on the head as newborn kitts
  15. it may be consided unlawful under animal welfare legalislation to release a fox in to unfamiliar surroundings, ie outside of its home range
  16. cant see no problem with that idea, maybe get a rear rack where you can bungee the carry box onto, nets etc in a shoulder bag, shovel easily strapped to side of bike,
  17. my ferts get visits from the fox most nights, never had a problem, probably more interested in the chicken coop than the ferret court, just make sure your shed is secure, havent seen him lately, but then Ive just finished the terrier run down there, but they used to sit in the garden watching us too, if theres no other livestock around you could prehaps try fox snares, but to use a live catch trap, you'll need a means of humane dispatch (not air rifle)
  18. had thought that when I first fitted it, but over a year ago now, and the burner came off an old canal boat, has a water heater in back and sides, so these areas dont really get hot, just warm to the touch, most heat from front, top and flu, great for drying out leggings/longnets the owner of the land cancelled, not me
  19. does she want to go ferreting then
  20. 1281 members on site think your wrong, I just love it, checking posts daily, I get to see lots of stupid/silly/sarcastic/offensive replies to posts, yet I leave what I class as a tongue in cheek reply, and get jumped on for "being a mod", rather than a member too
  21. probably more when used in a house, rather than a shed, as the shed door seems to be open/shut constantly where Im in and out, but yeah, once you have shut the door, warm as anything, the missus keeps threatning me with sticking a bed down there
  22. we had planned a days ratting today, but got called off last night due to the weather, so spent a few hours in me shed, as we do, nice and warm with a coffee
  23. they are called kitts, babies are what we have
  24. er a fox had a shit near holes maybe marking terratary, they shit all the time in my garden
