  1. Well I finally managed to scrounge enough Damsons, as the crop up here has been crap, really poor to say the least, anyway this recipe I made 10/15 yr ago, but I lost the recipe when I moved up here, but found it last week, I have to say it was the best port I have ever made, but took a long time 18 months, any way the ingredients, 4 lbs Damsons ½ lb Rice ½ lb Wheat 1 lb Raisins 4 lb Sugar Yeast 1 gal Water Pour boiling water over damsons and leave for 7 days. This liquid should then be turned with stirred Add the sugar and stir until dissolved. Then add the rice,

  7. It's one of them things, I avoid bright frosty nights as that was what was driven into me by my dad, but when I have gone out I have had some good foxes,(I have had some bad nights as well) I think it affects Rabbiting ,a lot more than foxing, however you have to be a lot more careful, noise wise, and movement, also silhouette wise,

  11. It seems it's a mixture of bees wax and parafin, however it seems the rustoleum would be quicker and easier,
  12. Do you dilute it down, if so with what, and how much, I did a search for it and there's loads about, also found some speed dip, but wouldn't mind experimenting and finding/making my own, there has to be something I could make to do the job decently, I though about it most of the day at work, and I can see the points being made by phil / EDDIE its worth thinking about, whats the trap wax the the American lads use, whats that made of, any body know ?
  13. I want to trap a few mink on a stream side phill, and thought it would give best protection, I suppose it is a bit thick and could make the triggers sticky, does it cause problems?? Or wood it be ok thinned right down with thinners,
  14. JD what are you dipping your traps with if you don't mind me asking ?? that is if it is dipped, Hi, it's rustoleum. I'm experimenting with different dilutions. I rate it.it looks good, I was thinking of using clear wax oil,

  16. I may have missed it I don't know, but I am going to buy some more traps soon, and wondered if anyone knows how Matt got on with flat pack, I thought I would ask as I trap in very acidic soils most of the time, so I was going to buy some more stainless ones from flat pack, but was hoping he had manged to sort the issues out,
  17. I honestly bought mine for the same reason, my backs knacked and I can't get to the nets as quick as I would like, I have not had a lurcher for 35 yrs, as I got into pheasant shooting and wild fowling, stalking and such, so moved to labs spaniels and pointers, I still have a lab and a teckle now, but I bought this dog,and don't think I will go back, I am sure I could have done more with him, that's my failing not his,I will have another pointer, but dought I will ever be without a small lurcher/ and terrier, again absolute pleasure to be with,it's really good to have a night on the lamp with t
  18. They are good at it, mine loves it, he has a real nose on him for pheasants, and works very well along side the Labrador, goes nearly every where with me, the hunt suffers a little when a rabbit shows but we soon get back to it, He loves duck shooting, had I known how well he was going to take to it,I would have spent more time training him accordingly, they are very versatile,he uses his brains retrieving from water, and if there's a flow he will let the lab do the work, onto the field though he's there, and will retrieve most anything,
  19. They must have more Balls than our Rozzers then cos the antis walk all over them, I swear they have a ranking officer some where on the antis side,Jesus in the miners strike they would wade in for any reason,
