    I love Ullapool Bob, it has so many happy memories attached to it, and a little bit further north is Achiltibuie, Inverpolly, and all the fantastic hill lochs so good for fishing. Ada kid, Ullapool was always full of Russian factory ships, knicking all our fish!

    To my mind, every one who owns any sort of gun should be a member of BASC. You get good insurance, good advice and your subscription goes towards helping to keep shooting alive. If it wasn't for BASC, standing up for shooting, who knows where it would be. Yep. I agree. But! There are other organisations that offer the same! My personal view is that they should all be amalgamated into one.

    The major problem with us in the UK is that we find this distasteful. Or, some people do. If this is the way these people survive, then so be it. Do you think it was any different before we got firearms. I don't think so.

    Great bringing up the little one with the ferrets. Well done pal. He will know that meat comes from animals, and not from supermarket!

    Craig, any decent sight should have the calibration magnification marked on it. It doesn't have to be 10x, its just whatever magnification the manufacturer calibrated it at. For example one of mine is calibrated at 12x. That really is the down side of second focal plane scopes.

    Call me old fashioned but give me a straightforward image that has just been enhanced and that does it for me. Levels, curves, boosting saturation etc

    I'm not sure I like the fox one Nige, it looks false with shadows all over the picture on the rocks etc, but with no shadows around the fox. It would possibly look better in colour, as there is not the contrast around the fox I feel there should be. Dont take this the wrong way, I am not trying to say it is false. Its a little bit the same with the spaniel, it is backlit by the moon, but a complete lack of shadow. Show us some more of your usual pics, which are very good!

    I dont know why but I find the abu droppens have to be going faster through the water than the mepps, to spin properly.

    The only thing for me is I am not keen on savage, but I dont think it will be long before the excellent barrels of CZ start turning them out. Then the .17 hornet will be one to look at for the accuracy alone.

    Its certainly one I will be watching, but I have no doubt that there will be dinasaurs about who say it will be just a flash in the pan. If we didnt develop we would still be throwing spears!

    what ye mean aboot the ball bearng mate, sorry im having a proper blonde minute here lol If the ground is solid or wet, and you are pushing down with the probe carefully, it is a little easier to feel it breaking through into the tunnel, with a ball bearing on the end, as the ball is slightly wider than the rebar. When the ball breaks through there is no soil gripping the bar, if that makes sense. It was something I learnt with the smaller version I now use on mole runs.
