  5. My closest friend, the man who first took me out with a dog when I was only 6 died last week, it was his funeral on thurs he was only 56. It made me realise how much I owe him he taught me to hunt and fish and every weekend ( and some school nights) were the best times ever. He would pick me up on a friday night to go lamping then saturday and sunday we would ferret or fish. I managed to get out for a day with him a couple of months ago I took him ferreting with my brother and my son, who's 5. He was by then quite ill and i had that horrible feeling that may have been my last time out with hi
  6. This was my first running dog for a few years but we always had bigger dogs back then 23 + the best being a Grey/ collie, susie, who could turn her hand at most things I think in the future i'll be looking for a bigger dog as well but me and my lad enjoy everyday out with the dogs, she's way too young to say shecan do this or that but she tries her heart out everytime andputs a smile on my face so thats good enough for me.
  7. A couple pics of mine, she's around 7 mnths ( around 10 mnths now) in the photos 3/4 whip 1/4 beddy, 19.5 tts, she's done pretty good tail end of the season with the ferrets and daytime bushing with the terrier only done a little lamping so far with her out with more experianced dog. I'm sure these smaller dogs are'nt ideal for all but if it's rabbits your after both day and night people are gonna keep them.
  8. loved this season got the lurcher pup started and my terrier has come on leaps and bounds, had some great days with the ferrets and some interesting nights lamping, just got back from ratting 1 smoker, 5 lads 4 dogs and 74 rats , oh and a swing shovel, the dogs were on fire today and the farmer gave us a load of beer when we left and we got the permission for rabbits next season And to top it off my little boy loved every day out with us and today was right amongst it, he's mad for a 5 year old, roll on next year can't wait

  10. Mines on raw chicken carcuss minced by a friends butcher, there £1.50 a tube ( about 3lb), they get sardine at leasst once a weeks and some dry food, I've always got a big budget pack of chicken wings and thighs in the freezer if the mince runs out + they go in for the ferrets when I'm out of rabbits ( and as my dogs are always to full to run thats often ) If you can't keep an animal properely you shouldn't have an animal, theres no excuse
  11. Gutting mate, I hope it all goes better for you next time By the way what the f**k with the negative comments on this post I can't see the need........
  12. 3/4 whip 1/4 beddy She's only young so you can't say for sure but I'm pleased with how she's come on the last couple of months, good with the ferret has started to mark , didnt trust her at first and waited for my terrier to mark but but entered ferrets on her mark and rabbit bolted she's caught runners, works around cover well and works well with my jack russel, I've started her on the lamp with an older dog but I'm gonna give her a few easy runs beginning of next season. she's been quite easy to train ( well to my standards any way ) stock breaking was no problem. Generally she's been a r

  22. nice one mate, the weathers been mad again this year loads of snow but didn't stop them breeding.
  23. Try to get out tomorrow morning but I reckon tha'll be the last time this season. It's changed from years ago when it was any month with an R in it.
  24. Bloody he'll we must of post basically the same thing at the same time. I've got a feeling you've made a wise decision.
  25. I hope the dog comes good for you mate. I would also say that merle24 seems a really decent bloke, fair play to the offers he has made you, with him knowing the line he has bred and showing that much confidence she'll come good , maybe you should give her a little longer. Good luck in whatever you decide.
