  1. cheers bigdog cheers web22, the pregnant rabbits aren't a good sign mate considering a mnth ago there was at least a foot of snow there shows the rabbits breed anytime hopefully get another couple of weeks in , got some other bits of permission to try might be different there
  2. totally agree mate aint the same without the dogs
  3. I wish the season would go on for a bit longer this year Whin, just so the pup could keep at it for another few months, but with us already catching pregnant does I think we've only got acouple of weeks left with the ferrets. I'll keep her at it with the terrier daytime mooching and a bit of lamping then fish the summer till next season My brothers got a 4mnth pup who will be out with us now so next season should be a good one. Good luck with your pup mate, we used to use a collie/ grey when I was a lad she was a real good dog ferreting or nigh time, but like you've said you gotta get th

  5. We're way down south in sunny Devon Had 4 out of 11 carrying young on fri.
  6. Yeah I'm pleased with her Whin, she should make a good little rabbiting dog, she's coming on well round the ferrets a bit slower to cotton on to the lamp, but I'm not worried she's still young
  7. Another great day there mate. Brilliant on taking the youngster out, it's thanks to people like yourself that a lot of lads get into this game , once your bitten by it it never goes away And fair play to Adam it maybe a while before you get another day like that ( unless your out with steve again next week ) All The Best Kev
  8. I take a jack russel and a beddy x whip pup, out this morning first bury no interest from the dogs looked fresh as a daisy, thought I'd give it a go any way, nothing, the pup marked a little 6 holer covered in leaves looked dead, she wouldn't leave the hole, Netted up ferret in 2mins late rabbit out, loads of praise for the pup . It makes the day watching their reactions, you can't beat the anticapation when the ears prick up, one leg lifts and they start to quiver with exitement. My dogs and ferrets get on well
  9. I had to go out tonight for an hour, because I didn't wake my lad this morning when I took the dogs out with the ferrets for a couple of hours. He got right stroppy when I got back with the dogs and a rabbit, he's only 5 so it was an early one ( school in the morning) but the dog had a couple of runs, nothing caught but the lad loved it, his first time out with the lamp was trying to take the lamp off me every field he's keen as hell which makes him a menace
  10. nice one mate........don't sound like you need nets with that ferret, just the spade Good write up
  11. It,s the same here mate. All over the place and soon they.ll be robing all the nest,s again. Like the mink lad,a proper pest.shoot the fuckers. Hi bud shoot about 40 a year and a few other lad,s do the same. if not more but we never seem to make a dent in them. have any of u eaten squirrel ? Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall reckons they're better than rabbit, and he knows of a chef who slyly puts them on the menu as "flightless partridge" I know a mate shot and barequed a couple years ago he reckons the people who ate them didn't even question what it was.
  12. well done pal looks a nice little bitch aswell atb popps Thanks popps
  13. nice one mate. I've seriously gotta get a quad my backs still killing from our laden doen yomp yesterday
  14. We had 4 out of 11 carrying young yesterday, the seasons getting shorter and shorter. They must be mating when there's a foot of snow on the ground. Its getting like that more and more they breed all year round in the right locations, we had some half grown ones the other day so when were they born? yeah it's mad mate, I remember as a kid ferreting at least till march, no chance now, lucky to do any in feb i reckon. I suppose being right down in the south west it maybe a little warmer than up north but the last 2 winters have been as cold as i can remember, so is it just the rabb
  15. She's about 7 and half months mate, I've had her out with the ferrets since about 4 mnths or so , it's starting to click now, you can see the exitement in her when you hear the rumbling. I haven't ran her much on the lamp just the odd run and letting her watch my mates dog. Will have her out again end of next week when the moons gone, and hopefully the frost. Good luck with your pup mate. Kev
  16. Well done lads It's a massive bonus when the dog accurately marks, the pup could become invaluable in the future
