  1. For the last 2 years I've taken my oldest girl and 2 neices to the X factor tour at Cardiff as 1 of their christmas presents. Yesterday was that time of year again I'm basically the taxi and the wallet ,my wife takes great pleasure in dragging me around the shops then watching me squirm during the "entertainment"........ Yesterday was worse than ever as I was supposed to be out on a wreck fishing trip so I got extra grief from the lads.... Mind you I got a nice lump of pollack in the fridge for tea, thanks to bro.. What about you lads what do you have to put yourselves through to be a good da
  2. Summer holidays camping out down the woods, nesting, dreaming of catching a decent bream on the canal but resorting to perch bashing, naf-naf, joe bloggs and 2 tone jeans ( hideous things), knowing you would get the new mitre delta for Christmas but you were well chuffed when you got it. Wearing football boots all day, scrumping then running like fck when you were caught laughing so much you could hardly run. Wedgies, dops, slapsy's, knuckles........ The feeling of pride when you could tell your mates " I poked her" ..........
  3. Fck me aren't they proper hard men.... Dancing around a little pike like a bunch of poofs.... I hope they get what they deserve in time.... Everything should be treated with respect l, something they know nothing about.
  4. These pups are turning into cracking looking dogs lads, look forward to hearing of their exploits when the season comes around..................
  5. The pup is looking cracking Johnny, looks like you've got your handful
  6. Good pose from both dog and handler haha........ nice one mate
  7. A mate I hunt with is from the Isle on mann, by the sounds of it the hunting laws are very relaxed there, his nephews still run dogs there and there is loads of rabbits and a lot of hares, no foxes though. Cheers
  8. As has been said mate take it slow and get the basics as right as you can, don't get frustrated everyone will make out they have a perfectly trained dog the reality is usualy different, work on re-call and retrieve but make everything short and fun for the pup. If you've got ferrets or a friend with ferrets start her early season around them she'll soon work out the game. I started mine around 8mnths on the lamp nothing serious just a walk out 1 or 2 runs on easy rabbits, early season young ones are ideal. I've got a 3/4 whip 1/4 beddy too they are cracking little rabbit dogs mate just take it
  9. I've got 3/4 whip 1/4 beddy god little rabbiter, quick can turn on a sixpence and runs the lamp well and ferrets ( the sister to troters dog), brothers got a first x, to e fair hasn't done as much but is really driven hits any cover and is full on, needs to calm down a bit on the lamp but that should come. Good rabbiting dogs with big hearts First x on the left of pic 3/4 on the right
  10. Some fine looking dogs there mate, roll on next season
  11. Not ferreting mate got an invite few weeks back on a new bit we had 10 full grown but was hard work, loads of lay ups with the amount of young. Been out with the lamp a bit, had 8 on Monday with the pup she ran well just let down by her retrieve ( or lack of it lol), pretty much done now though, already looking forward to next season. How about you mate you gonna be doing much more?
  12. Cheers Billy, she's came on well mate nice little rabbiting dog all her obedience is good apart from the retrieve, she'll bring me back anything but live rabbits lol, Hope you had a decent season mate, hope to see you and Zac next season. Cheers Kev
  13. Took Martha out for a few hours last night, the season is rapidly ending for me the fereting stopped 2 weeks ago when we started bolting fluff balls, I hoped to get a few more nights in with the moon down. It was a good night a little wind and pitch black, this is a nice bit of permission with different fields spread accross a couple of farms, some sheep and cattle fields and some bigish open arable fields. The first 3 fields not a rabbit out, then se had her first slip and missed it at the hedge, diving in after to no avail. next rabbit was sat right in the middle of a big arable field I gave
  14. Crackpot off of here has a cracking looking JRT x Whippet, from his accounts on here he's pleased with it.
  15. Good write up mate, fair play to you your putting in the miles at the minute
  16. you beat me to it was going to get to the end of the post before I said something similar mate can't see the fun in ripping a kid thats lost their first dog. Nat: Thats a bad one mate, when you're ready get another dog and start again I'm sure it will help in the long run, just don't associate with that numpty who forgets bout a cliff again. Keep your chin up mate
  17. Few of the dogs my mates EBT and Pat my Beddy x and Jrt and my brother Beddy x as a pup ( right hand side of middle pic) Cookie: All our permission ok with dogs, really wouldn't fancy it without them...
  18. Got to agree with that mate watching the dogs is the best bit for me, Cookie: Similar thing with me mate my Jack russel will sit in the hedge and nail them in the nets and is a good marker, and my beddy whip will run the bolters, they're a decent little team, lately I have been letting the Jrt mark and then keeping her on a lead, mainly because I've found the rabbits will leave the hedge and hit the stop nets more readily, A mate who I go out with from time to time has 4 dogs he brings an EBT, littl jrt, a pat and a staffy, they all are good with stock and ferrets and all mark, are go
  19. Wont be doing much on the main farm we've done all year as, I'm the only one with permision and I'm looking forward to next years sport on a farm which is just up the road we've had a fair few off it this year so there's no need for us to keep hammering it for the sake of it. Got a couple other places we've been asked to go on and one is supposed to be crawling (heard that before) so I will still be out for a few weeks yet, but don't think I'll be doing much after the end of this month with the ferrets. Personally I don't like to be seeing loads of young and pregnant does being killed, just m
  20. Best of luck with your pup Johnny, I've enjoyed reading about Don's exploits on here, it's only a internet forum but I think the lads involved with these dogs come accross as some of the most genuine on here, I'm sure the pup will do you proud
  21. Moll, thats a bad bit of luck, I hope Rudie makes a full recovery soon. ATB Kev
