Patent is sorted thanks mate, the technology is covered, it would be hard on the frame etc, it's cost us a few bob, but the signs are good. Night hunter: hertz and thrifty are watching with interest.... Big meeting on tues fingers crossed.... Cheers lads

Thanks, my mate is the technical brains it is his idea, the frame and inside and out finish is our bag, a lot of structural design has gone in so we can lift the unit whole onto a low loader, also the internal finish is critical. Its a very smart looking bit of kit, but the technology is the key. The beauty in doing it as a whole unit Is we deliver to site and with in half a day it is operational, if it went in pieces we would need 8 days to erect and clad inside and out + fit out the cameras etc. it's a big selling point.

It scans for any scratches, bumps etc in the hire car. When you take the car out it gives you a print out and when you return you get a print out. It uses 9 high tech cameras ( not my part I'm not a techy) which view the car from every angle. There is no margin for argument, unlike the bloke with a clip board which always results in arguments. At the moment it costs avis alone 60k a month in insurance disputes this will eradicate that. It only takes 4 seconds to scan and your on your way. I think in heathrow alone there are 400 hire cars rented from avis a day so that's a lot of wasted time fo
  7. Cheers for the replies lads The bloke who had shot them in the week is an odd job man for the lady owner, she hadn't realised he had shot them, they were both apologetic on reducing our days sport. Like I said its a bit of fun for us, a social day really so although we had less than expected we still had a good laugh and the dogs were out. Cheers Kev

Around 6 months ago I was asked by a friend I hadn't seen for years to look at a new idea he had. I've got to be fair the lads a genius, he runs a very successful alarm and surveillance company and is a computer whizz. The idea he had was a car scanning booth for the hire car companies, he had the technology but not the design for the steel frame and cladding etc. we came up with a design and started on a prototype, we built the whole thing in his yard it was 8m longx 5m wide x3 m high, the idea was put to Avis and they asked for a trial, we sent the thing whole to heathrow and it is being use
  9. Worked steel erecting and fabricating from 18 in 98 me and my brother set up on our own I was 21 he was 18, started off sh@t car bag of tools and a labourer. We've worked all over the country from farm sheds to supermarkets I missed a lot of time with my little ones growing up being away from home. We now have new premises with fab shop and office few good lads on the books and at the minute we're busy. You get out what you Put in, I reckon, and it is hard to get in now, but if you really want to work its there ,you maybe have to travel for it , or not get as much as you'd like ,to start with,

  13. Me, done it with the kids a few times! Start off with one of these: Feed the greedy little fecker loads of fuchsia: Until it turns into one of these: Keep it in a cool and dark place for the winter, bring it out around may when it warms up & hey presto! Not a butterfly, but you get the idea! glad yours survived Mal, i killed mine somehow Done this as a kid also used to collect frog spawn and watch it turn into tadpoles then frogs then we'd let them go down the river...... 15. e Lol mate, I loved all the outside things and still do, the biggest worry is letting your kids go and have the freedom of years ago, you can't let them find out for themselves like we did, it just doesn't feel safe anymore. We were out at light and in at dark, no mobiles to check up...... I couldn't let my kids do that now unfortunately Things aren't really any worse now than they were then, its more that the perception is worse now than it was then. You maybe right mate, although I think the country has changed a lot in the last 20/25 years though....even down to some of the op

  17. Good luck with this one gnasher, I don't know why but I'm a bit jealous of you.... A week of peace and quiet no phone, missus or kids sounds like heaven.....until you chuck in midges, hunger, cold lol...... I would personally take a telescopic rod and reel few spinners and hooks, you could dig a few worms and catch yourself a nice trout for tea.... Be a nice way to unwind after a days yomping sat by a loch having a fish ....and getting your head bit to pieces by midges..... Seriously good luck mate look forward to your posts once you've done it...
